6:23 the silent rushing wind and the encounter with the inquisitive butterfly brought a flashback of being on a bike climbing up the forested mountain in Ko Samui, Thailand on the way to a meditation center. It brought back that feeling of rushing green and fresh air blowing in my face and the vastness of the world. The complete and utter engagement with nature and a deep bliss. In another vid you said "Life is a participation sport, not a spectator sport", I needed to hear that, and it hid hard. Thank you Mike. 💕

Hi man, I'm from the Congo(DRC). Great video. The main reason why you have been labeled as spies is because Obed is from the east of DRC where there is rebels who are mining illegally, killing people in the village in order to disperse them and forcing them to leave the villages, jungle due to fear. The other reason is also that in the DRC we are too protective about the pygmies as they are a minority, they never want to live in the urban city. They are very protective over their culture. They have good and deep knowledge of the jungle and wild life. They know which animals are in danger of extinction, they didn't want to speak to you as they saw you with the crocodile, they had to call the head of their small village to see, so he can be aware.

It's because in western society, the consensus is if you're not famous, successful, extraordinary, wealthy, ect. then you're just inadequate by default, which plays a huge part in why so many people have depression here in America, even though the vast majority of us live in extreme comfort in comparison to poor people in 3rd world countries. They don't have much room to be sad about trivial things like we do because they're simply too focused on trying to survive like you said. And real survival too. They appreciate the smaller things in life like community and having a meal at night, things that many of us overlook and underappreciate on a daily basis. We directly and indirectly live to "keep up with the Jones's" so to speak. They're just living life.

Watching from Kenya. I really appreciate your work. My heart however bleeds, wondering what happened to the DRC. A massive country, so much blessed with natural resources. So much potential, it could be the food basket of Africa, the economic vein of Africa, the breath and the sunshine that Africa desperately needs. And yet today, we see funded militias fighting deep from the jungles, we see France and other imperialists establishing mining companies in that country that has a few tarmac roads. Who will really save DRC? The mighty Congo River alone can produce hydroelectric power enough to light up the whole of Africa.

We draw these lines because, while we are the same , the experiences are very different . This guy has a waaaaaaay different set of opportunities and lives a life where he gets to point to where he wants to go , or choose what he wants to do . Iv lived in African countries volunteering and I must say that the image of a romanticized Africa becomes different when you realize that they don’t get to choose whether or not living like them is an “adventure “ vs a way of life . Most people watching this don’t realize that many can’t choose to jump teams whenever they feel they want to . I like this guys content it’s great , just thought I would mention this .

I've never been outside of the U.S.A, but thi summer I want to save about 40k and travel asia, including the Philippines. You inspire me man! Thank you, long time fan; Kyle.
@dustinthewind39252 жыл бұрын
I've been to the Philippines, I had a difficult time figuring out how to handle the friendly nature of the locals. Awkward, but in a good way. One elderly woman told me that the people are mostly good, churchgoing folk, and only advised that I watch my pockets and avoid the muslim areas. All the kids I walked by would smile at me and say "Hey Joe!" (White foreigner).
@FerachiGames2 жыл бұрын
Hey! Not sure if you've already gone, but 40k is WAY too much to travel Asia. I spent 3 months all over China the summer before Covid and lived on about 5k which mostly went towards my plane tickets. Maybe add another 2k for some touristy stuff. But yea 40k can get you basically around the entire world. The rest of the world is insanely cheap compared to the US (with the exception of some European countries).

This is much more interesting than what you learn in school, the fact that this man brings people into all these diffrent cultures to show all that they have to offer. This is incredible!

Well you and Eva certainly go to the extremes alright, you sweating it out in the jungle and her battling a freezing wind storm in Antartica, you are both amazing. The challenge of life is to be challenged and to appreciate every moment that life has given us too often we take things for granted and watching your videos reminds me how blessed I am to live where I live and reminds us that one person’s reality is different to another’s. The hunt to survive is still reality in the jungle, the search for what we want among the the multitude of choices we have in the supermarket is another and we cannot make judgments based on what we consider to be normal in our world. At the end of the day we are all human and have the same basic needs , but as increasing urbanisation of life it takes us further away from the truth of who we really are, something that politicians increasingly exploit for their own ends . Great video 👍👍

This is so beautiful. I cry to every single one of your videos i watch, i feel those people, i wanna be there with them. They have so much knowledge about nature and permaculture its unbelivable. We have so much to learn and its right there in the forrest we go, but instead we lean on something called google. As an example, you can watch someone on youtube filming a tribe gathering resources in the woods, but when you are on the spot with them, you are vulnerable. And that is why you feel alive. Thank you for everything you are the reason many will go to africa to help, and to get help.

Bro at 18:50-19:00 mins into the video, those scenes spoke volumes to me. Its common sense that we are all the same, but to see us coming together with food, shelter, community, we are all humans and that feeling goes deeper then language can comprehend.
