I'm impressed by what Americans come up with, too. I have never heard of half these things, but it was very interesting to see! Mehboob saying to 'leave it' at the first item, I understand that completely. I want to meet the man who drinks from the freshly frozen lake! Please Mustafa, bring him next time. It honestly surprised me at first that ice water is not a thing around the world. While I personally am not a fan of it and it is more healthy to drink warm things, I just thought more people preferred it over regular water. But it does make sense when you think about it. Bless all the cast and the crew! Greetings from Germany!
@muzcat1003 жыл бұрын
Ice water is normal here too, but we usually prefer to drink chilled liquids when its sodas or juices, but throughout summer everyone drinks cold water which is made cold using ice of course. The reactions our tribe gang gave here were because it was simply water with straw in it, I think Mehboob was so dazzled by the fact because we normally drink the water along with the ice and then chew the ice, so having a straw there beats the purpose (in his view maybe) and it would be better if it was just cold water.

Sweet potato casserole is a desert . It didn't look like it was made very well in the video. It's actually very good. We allso make Sweet potatoes with a topping of pecans. Both are much like pie without the crust.

@@lbe don't think of sweet potato as a potato. It's a yam. Basically mashed sweetened but still lumpy yam with a Sweet crunchy or gooey top. Aka Sweet potato casserole. I pulled a random recipe off utube and am forwarding it to you. You can get lots of recipes from utube. I've made many weird foods, some was because I was hungry and had to make do with what I had on hand (dry cereal with peanut butter) or because I simply wanted to see if things tasted good together. Some of the things I found to be good was to fix a pizza, then cook an egg (over easy), then put the egg on the pizza and eat. It's pretty good. Another food was I took hot dogs, wrapped bacon around them and baked them (did the same thing with chicken once). The most surprising thing was when I took sliced bologna and put a little caramel on it (the sweetness of the caramel counters the saltiness of the bologna).

Why not try the Norwegian national dish; fårikål, literarly lamb in cabbage? Take equal prts lamd, or preferbly sheep; and cabbage. I normally use 1.5 kgs of each. Put in layers in a casserole, meat at bottom, cabbage on top. Add some boiling water (1/2 -cup, depends on how much broth you bwant) Sprinkle salt and whole black peppercorns between the the layers, and cook for 1.5-2 hours, or until the meat falls off the bones. Normally served with boiled potatoes. It's best after a coulpe of reheatings. Bon appetit.....

I know a lot of people are annoyed or atleast amused by Mama Mustafa and him constantly saying that his village is better. I am not saying he is completely correct, all cultures are rich and beautiful. But still, read and research a bit about Balochistan. Its a hidden gem. The culture is absolutely treasure. Baloch history is thousands of years old.

As an American, most of these things i have not tried. I am not sure if i ever heard of the Donut Burger. Maybe, not sure but I don't like hamburgers. Ice water, i have heard of and drink it often in other homes or restaurants. I come from the desert in the mountains of New Mexico. The high desert. Water, by itself is good. It doesn't need to be boiling or frozen. But I am not in the desert now and live where it is so hot with so much moisture in the air that my son and his cousin faint outside. They get terrible headaches from being in the heat. People sometimes die in this heat if they work too hard. Even young healthy men who are not afraid of hard work. They get Heat Stroke. Their body heats up much more than it is supposed to. Even though I don't care for ice water, I like it in that heat. It tastes good and lets me work outside longer. It is here, in the south where it gets so hot, that every drink is on ice. They are used to it this way and when it is hot? So do I. In the house, though, i don't keep my water in the fridge. But i keep my husband's water in the fridge. And I serve him fruit juice with crushed ice. And he likes it that way. I think now, though, everyone likes ice water. It is only when i go home and ask for water in a home or in a restaurant that i am brought water in a glass or cup with no ice. And the water there is clean and sweet. The ice tastes funny after being in the freezer. We don't want it to make our water taste funny. This is a big country with every climate in the world (I think)

For those Americans who haven’t had one, please do. If you go to the state fair (for the food) it’s sticky, but really well balanced sweetness. To someone who likes donuts. So good, they’re in town, but I live in a dumb state so I’ll wait til next September to get my 3rd.

Salaam Mr. Kareem! The sweet potato casserole can be made without the marshmallows. It is a favorite for special occasions where I live. To make yourself, get 4 medium sweet potatoes and bake them with a little butter on the outside of the skin. Cook them until a fork will go through them and let them cool. When cool, remove the skins, and mash the pieces together until the "strings" are no more. Add salt, one egg, a hand full of sugar, a cap of liquid vanilla, 1/2 cup ghee, and beat the mixture until nothing shows as different than the sweet potato. Pour into oven dish and bake until top is lightly brown from the butter. You can add cinnamon, nutmeg, mace, or nuts (almonds are good in this) as you wish as you bake. Add the marshmallows to the top at the end and just let them melt a bit to get the "goo" at the top.

Including the ice water was a good nod to the rest of the world, that is definitely one of my most American traits, I LOVE my water ice cold all the time haha! The sweet potato marshmallow casserole is weird yet also traditional, to me that's a dish we always have once, maybe twice, a year at Thanksgiving/Christmas and that's it. So it's a combination of weird, unusual food that is also very traditional and familiar. I've never had one of those donut burgers, interesting how divisive that one was haha.
