Lyrics - (This is an inside joke for all those working musicians who have been through "it.") Now Listen!! I’ve been playin’ my drums for 25 years ‘like to bang ‘em real hard, and then drink a few beers I got the chops to rock you, but I can’t run and hide ‘cause I’m playin’ Barry Manilow, and havin’ no fun Chorus: I’m on my boat gig Response - Boat gig! I’m on my boat gig, YEAH! Response - Cruise ship! Makin’ da bucks Wearin’ my tux for you! Now I’m big-'n'-mean, and I’m muscle bound Got the fattest set of drums in the whole damn town I can slap my snare drum, knock yer head right off But I’m usin’ my brushes, ‘cause I gotta play soft! Chorus: I’m on my boat gig Response - Boat gig! I’m on my boat gig, YEAH! Response - Cruise ship! Makin’ da bucks Wearin’ my tux for you! Well, the boat leaves the dock at about a quarter till nine Filled with yuppies dressed proper and fine. A wedding reception, tonight’s affair. Who got married? …I DON’T CARE, NO NO! Well, ya know I gotta feed da kids, gotta clothe da wife Nothin’ but heartbreak, trouble and strife! So, until I make it, and become a big star… Spoken in Elvis-ese - "hup, wanna put a little money in my tippin’ jaaar?!" Chorus: I’m on my boat gig Response - Boat gig! I’m on my boat gig, YEAH! Response - Love boat! Makin’ da bucks Wearin’ my tux for you!

Great great group: Willis is a driving force and a great harmonist, Covington a powerhouse and Henderson a true genius. difficult for Kinsey to over shine. TT is a very important band, but the Henderson solo albums are stellar.

Scott Henderson can play anything he wants to. Like Greg Koch

Yes, Scott can play some really good guitar ... he's a mix of Jeff Beck, Gary Moore, Stevie Ray Vaughan ... and then takes it to a whole new level.

can somebody please "transcribe" what Kirk is saying at 4:27 into the chorus... I'd love to know... It's different from the "tipping jar" line on the recording... I absolutely love this song... THANKS!

My favourite singing drummer bar none. That is close to the truth if you remove the "singing" from that sentence also.

Mickey Dolenz was the best vocalist in The Monkees. Karen Carpenter played drums while she sang with the voice of an angel.
