I CANNOT WAIT FOR YOU TO GET TO INDIGO. If you’re so amazed by the tie into other arts. Just wait! I hope that you consider reacting to some of RM’s post-indigo interviews after hearing the album, like the album breakdown with Zach Sang and the album magazine film. He really takes amazing inspiration from other authors, poets, painters, artists and so eloquently puts his interpretations into art in the form of lyrics. He is truly one of the most amazing human beings on the planet. His mind is out of this world! So excited for RM week 💜

The plagiarism question was one of innumerable such charges, and in not ONE case was it true, and every single legal case was thrown out. In this instance it had to do with a French artist whose works consisted of miniature scenes, and in this case focused on his claim that a video from Wings era stole the concept of his piece set in a similar manner: of a sit down meal outdoors. Again, the number of such baseless cases is staggering, and not one of them stuck, but the endless nuisance and hits to their reputation were very stressful
@shockofthenew10 ай бұрын
It's true there were many completely ridiculous 'plagiarism' claims over things like hair colour, school uniforms, running through a field, sitting at a table outside etc. However for full transparency it's important to acknowledge there was one incident which was legit - HOWEVER it totally makes sense once you understand the context, and it's been dealt with already. To explain further, there was a line in one of RM's songs (I can't remember which tbh, but I think it was either in 2014 or 2015) which someone noticed was the same as a line by another writer. Instead of asking Namjoon about it and giving him a chance to explain they went to the media and tried to blow it up into a 'scandal'. Namjoon responded and apologised, he explained that when he was writing that song he was going through his old notebooks from when he was a teenager, where he used to write down all kinds of weird things that came into his head. He usually only wrote his own thoughts in there, but at some point he must have noted down this other writer's phrase while he was reading, and then over the years had forgotten that he didn't write it himself. He said when he saw the claims he realised what must have happened and he was very embarrassed about it. He apologised profusely and said he would be much more careful in the future. Then the original author spoke up, saying that kind of mistake just happens sometimes, but thanked him for the apology anyway and wished him luck with his music. So yes, there technically was an incident of 'plagiarism' which antis like to bring up endlessly, but it was literally as harmless as you can get, he apologised, and nothing like that ever happened again.

Passive aggressive Namjoon is one of my favorite genres. You’re absolutely right, he is unfailingly polite, but if you know him at all, you can 100% tell when he is telling someone they’re an idiot, without saying the words. My petty side just gets a kick out of it, but on a deeper level, in my opinion this is one of the ways that BTS refuses to be stripped of all sense of normalcy and their humanity. In an industry in which they are treated like commodities, I feel like the subtext of his attitude is that they are real people who have thoughts, feelings, and ideas, and he refuses to let them be reduced to objects. 💜💜
@shockofthenew10 ай бұрын
Oh you explained this perfectly, just perfectly. They have worked so hard to be endlessly gracious and polite despite continuously being dehumanized, belittled and stereotyped. At this point Namjoon and Yoongi have actually made a couple of small comments here and there referring to the way they're treated by the media. It must be exhausting to deal with but they're class acts and just continue to rise above, subtly showing up the attitudes of these journalists by simply maintaining their dignity, allowing themselves to laugh at the situation when needed, and bringing the conversation back down to earth whenever possible.

it was super hard to endure all the interviews the guys had when they first started entering the American market, the interviewers never knew anything about their music or them as a group, and asked the same questions all the time (literally, the collab question was asked like 100 times) after a while, I feel like the guys got so bored of the nonsense that then they started joking around and taking almost nothing seriously so they could endure it and make the moment less awkward. can't blame them for that, It was so rare that there were decent interviews, that when they came from time to time, we celebrated as if it was an event, that's how bad it was at the time.

One of the things that made me love RM ('Namjoon' to us ARMYs) is how introspective he is without losing his sympathy and humanity. You can see how he grew and mature - both as an artist and a human -through his music and lyricism. During his Indigo album promotions, he mentioned he was a poet first before anything else. He really is one of the best lyricists of our time. 💜
@BansheePurple Жыл бұрын
Yee, his first mixtape 'RM' is fcking incredible but terribly underrated 😭 Namjoon is one of my favorite soloists ever. I love his voice, hir rap and THE LYRICS. This man is really a poet and makes you think a lot and touch your soul. His songs usually have a lot of wordplays and references. So, I recommend you to read the translated lyrics in a web call doolset. Armys usually read and analyze BTS' and the member's solo songs there since include the necessary explanations! His playlist/mixtape 'Mono' is one of my all time favorite projects. Like I relate A LOT to his songs and gave me so much strength and comfort when I went though a hard time in 2018 and every time I feel bad, sad, stress or something, I listen to Mono and I just vent those feeling. That Mixtape is like therapy. It's like a journey with each song and I always end up crying and letting out the strong emotions during 2 specific songs and at the end I feel calm. His album 'Indigo' is incredible and so diverse, I love the production of each song so much and has a lot of collabs. Even if I usually listen to albums in order, I have to say that with this one I kind of play different songs more depending o my mood. It's a great album. Oh I can't wait to watch your reaction to his discography! 💜

Loving how you're picking up on their actual personalities/dynamics - the channel you're using is a good one for trying to show true representations of the guys. For some context, that interviewer was indeed trying to start crap on plagiarism. You'll discover for yourself the insane hate campaign against BTS by other k-pop fans - WINGS, one of their albums, literally had a campaign against it called Break Wings Project (and, yes, BTS knew of it). None of the claims are true, but the hate definitely did damage, and it's one of the reasons Bangtan says "we only have ARMY". And yep, Yoongi and Namjoon are the ones who pick up on the shade and react, but the rest of the group is as fiercely protective. Namjoon's talked several times about how he finds Yoongi a source of reassurance in press junkets and he's said "Without [you], this...journey would have been very tough", and Jungkook described them as: "Namjoon-hyung leads from the front, Suga-hyung leads from the back." To many of us, they're the twin pillars. One of Bangtan's greatest strengths is they're really all for one, one for all; they've worked very hard to build on their natural chemistry and it's resulted in this wonderful, rare cohesion. Anyway, thanks for being genuine and wanting to know the reality beyond the phenomenon :)

RM is a wonderful leader (one of the best ever in my opinion). It is crazy because he isn't the oldest or the second oldest, because age plays a huge deal in Korean culture and society and the age you are plays a huge rule how others talk to you (Oldest to Youngest: Jin, Suga, Jhope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook). He was the first member picked not just because of rapping ability but also because of his personality and everything. RM is amazing at pushing his members to be their best but not trying to be in the spotlight. RM inspires all the members to be their best and try their best. RM has truly tried to help and understand each member, so he knows how to help them. Not only that but he is someone that all the members know they can rely on with music and with advice. I could keep on going but RM is one of the best leaders ever and has so much pressure on him because he is the leader of the biggest group in the world. Many people will say that other members of BTS are the most hated but honestly, I truly believe RM is one of the most hated because he is the leader, what he has openly supported, mistakes he has made in the past, etc.
@evantesseract737 Жыл бұрын
Hybe labels don't seem to want the oldest to be the leader these days, which I think is good - it creates some balance. I was still pretty surprised at Enhypen though, Jungwon is so young! They do have a process to determine the best leader, but I saw a joke that said it's just whichever member has dimples and they may have a point 🤣
@AJP.OT7 Жыл бұрын
@@evantesseract737 I personally think that it mostly started with BTS then other groups were influenced so they started doing it. So, I would say Bighit started it, or maybe not started, but had the biggest influences and the other subsidiaries started it. It isn't hybe that decides these things. It is the subsidiaries. Hybe only oversees and gives money pretty much. All the plans for everything else (promo/creating groups/music/etc) is done by the subsidiary companies. Hopefully this makes sense. I think it is important to start making sure we are talking about the right thing because a lot of people group all groups under Hybe as if they are in the same company and have the same "rules" but it isn't really like that. (i mean no hate). However, it is true they do have a bias towards dimples lol.
@evantesseract737 Жыл бұрын
@@AJP.OT7 I wasn't careful with my words, you're right! They all have different ways of choosing a leader. And it can vary group by group, too. There are some similarities across HYBE labels that I assume are at least partially structural - access to the same staff, shared training programs. But the labels have their own flavors... I'm pretty interested in ADOR. They want to shake things up. 😁
@AJP.OT7 Жыл бұрын
@@evantesseract737 I personally don't pay attention to companies a lot just Bighit (BTS) really but as for groups NewJeans I think really stick out and have great potential. I really like a few of their songs and I do find their concept refreshing but besides that I don't really know much about ADOR. However, I have heard rumors that their director is kind of creepy and tries to take all the credit about the girls, which is kind of unfortunate, but we will see what happens. They never research to ask good questions, just taking BTS at face value & exaggerating their reactions while calling ARMYs rabid and obsessed. The best interviewers were: - Liam McEwan from J-14 - Zach Sang from Zach Sang show (although he has some shady ppl working there) - Jimmy (from The Tonight Show) - Stokes & Friends (these are very old interviews of when BTS was starting to come out into the US as more mainstream in 2017) - BTS on BBC Radio wth Adele Roberts. 2017 & 2019. She was very nice to them even before they became mainstream in the west. Ngl Liam & Jimmy are my personal favorites. They're the ones who truly make BTS laugh & be comfortable enough to be crackheads on their shows. As well as doing interesting questions and giving them surprises. You can even tell on BTS' faces how happy they get when they meet.

@@Rox7ne We both r from India n I felt really happy to come across her interview bcoz that was one of the couple of times Indian media interviewed tannies. I became ARMY in fall 2021 so this Interview was telecasted long before I came to know abt BTS n I stumbled upon this as part of BTS rabbit hole. The first time I watched it I was impressed by the way the interview was. I liked the way she interviewed them fanchant wise n asked everyone a question instead of throwing questions at them as a group. The second time I watched it was when I noticed few things- she kept on asking the same question abt depression more than once. Suga answered her in the first question itself but she repeated herself which I found odd. Then the question to Jin felt a little bit off. Trust me the first time I watched it I liked that conversation bt only the second time I realised it was Jin's answer that impressed me. He answered that question beautifully - one of my fav traits of Jin btw. Later I noticed the way it was edited to make that V was flirting with her- it is not her mistake, Indian media does it. Months later I came across a tweet where the discussion was abt how this Interview was nt good. Apart from the points I noticed, there were a lot of things that happened. Apparently there was a live of her where she said something along the lines of Maknae shared some secret with her n she apparently used tannies crying as gifs even after ARMYs repeatedly told her not to. There r few more things that I don't remember. But her interview is much much better than western media interviews n she told the boys that they make the world a better place n she wishes they get the love back multipled by 1000 times. That was a lovely thing to say. This one sentence is enough for me to forgive her but I will not hype her anymore.

31:32 Right after debut, RM and Suga were invited to this K-hiphop roundtable and they attended in good faith, however, the rappers here, many way older than them, were very condescending and downright misogynistic. They mocked RM and Suga for leaving the underground scene to become Kpop idols because they thought it was "the easy way out." RM responded that training to be an idol was not that easy and not anyone can do it. He mentioned one guy here even auditioned for the same company as him. Suga said, respectfully, he didn't think he's changed that much - he still wrote his own bars and the difference was that he had an audience to listen to what he had to say (as opposed to how he'd sold his songs, got scammed, got his songs stolen and didn't earn a dime before). The dudes at the roundtable responded with toxic masculinity - ridiculing them for having predominantly female fans, calling them girls for wearing stage makeup, and declaring that hiphop culture was about being macho. 🤡

Loved your deep dive into the album. They way you take time to examine the music and lyrics. Shows a genuine love for music and respect for the band and not just mindless yelling and screaming 😅... One week won't be enough lol... RM has so many layers... All of his interviews the BE ones and the ones with Pharrel (Rolling stone) and Zach Sang to understand his creative process lol. But I think you can do a part 2 with rapline interviews to understand each of their creative processes and recurring themes and styles if you would like. Each of them brings something different. I won't tell you too much, you'll have fun discovering that yourself. RM is the Poet Philosopher - I don't want to say much, will leave it for you to discover...😊 Suga's a Rap- Producer who does a few signature things so his production and lyrics tell a combined story. His adlibs often emphasize the lyrics creating a total experience. J-Hope's dance background and love for lore and literature, unexpected melodies... You'll find a lot in his music and artistry. He likes world-building. I'm trying not to leak out too much. 😅 But consider the bg of these artists, it really informs their writing so beautifully :)

It's been said before that RM raps with his brain yoongi with his soul and j-hope with his heart

They got a ton of plagiarism accusations. Constant. My favorite thing about how they handled that interviewer isn't just that Namjoon made him say it out clearly, or that Yoongi shut him down. As soon as he started, RM knew where he was going and crossed him off the list in front of him. He (and possibly whatever publication he represented) lost his chance to ever interact with BTS again. There are ways to respectfully ask about the issue, but that wasn't one of them.

I had literally given up checking for a new upload and decided to go to bed, but I still wanted to watch a video from you so I came to look for your Jin reaction you mentioned and saw this one!!💜 Thank you so much for these reactions, they literally make my day better! These past couple of years the guys have gotten more comfortable being theirselves in interviews, especially the US ones. I love when they show their sassy sides lol! Though I miss seeing them as a group, so far this chapter 2 of their careers has been amazing for their growth as indiviuals.

I'm happy you actually read the lyrics I say this to EVERYONE when I try to get them into BTS. I just sigh in the end cause they really don't get it. Joonie is something special I love that man I love all of them but he was the one that pulled me into checking out the group more.

This was a very insightful review of the album. I really appreciated your own personal views, especially about the shards of divinity within each person. I think you understood RM's words and meaning very well. He's a poet through and through. Like others in the comments, I really look forward to seeing your reaction to "Indigo". As far as RM's leadership is concerned, he's the best there is. He's an excellent leader and example for his boys, and nobody else would be as patient as he is having to try to herd these chaos gremlins into something resembling order. It's not an easy task, but he handles it beautifully. I respect him so much.

I’ve really been enjoying watching your journey. You bring a solid and fun dose of chaos and your intelligence really shines through. The way you break down and connect with the lyrics that you’ve seen so far makes me certain that you are going to LOVE this rabbit hole.

i love you for going back to listen to the songs again thats like hardly ever done by any reactor. usually reactors are 1 song done and never mention it again like they do the bare minimum. but YOU my brother i love your review of RM. you completely got RMs vibe as an artist. He's an analyzer. He sees, he questions, he doesn't just accept. We had this saying about the BTS rappers: RM analyzes the world SUGA criticises the world j-hope visualizes the world keep going!! im so excited for your bts journey!!!

Tribe Loui! You will always be a favorite for me. Your love for music is palpable. I was excited to see you also listened to, “Do you Believe…” which isn’t on the title of your video. So happy that Ren was able to pull himself out of such a dark place and thankful that such beautiful and meaningful music came from all that pain. His music is literally helping save lives…. 💔❤️🩹❤️

You are one of the most genuine reactors I’ve seen on here in a while and I greatly appreciate you taking this journey and the route that you’re taking. At first I was like get to group stuff get to group stuff hurry n watch the member guides but I find this way of going through each member individually and giving them real time to truly get to know them is absolutely a breath of fresh air and reminding me of so many memories I have from my own BTS journey 💜
