Do you mention anything in any of the other Free Spirit Society videos about a constitution or mission statement? I would want to know that a constitution was democratically established (and amendable) as a disembodied/decentralized from any one person.

Let's not romanticize loneliness shall we? It is sad and always will be. We are not cats you know we are social creatures.
@Infinitesimal-ho7it2 ай бұрын
@@stuckonearth4967 , people are varied, and have varied social needs and comforts. Someone like me _does_ need community, but I also need time alone for processing thoughts and often for recreation. Also, there is a difference between alone and loneliness. Alone just means someone is by themself (hopefully by choice, and probably will connect with at least someone else, sometimes). Lonely is someone that is by themself despite wanting to connect with someone. They feel pain from loneliness.

@@jonobester5817 Following the structure of a large shared Communal Area and individual small cabins, I like 6 to 10 members - no more than 12. But that's me. Each group has to find what works for them. I go over this in detail in the book "The Gift: Building New Haven."

I think that people don't stress the virtue of Conformity enough here in the United States. It's this BS tendency to glorify rugged individualism. If you have everything that the group stands for like a constitution written out then somebody can look at it and either agree to it and get the benefits of joining the group versus being on his own or else he would just not join the group. I don't see why it has to be a small tribe if you have enough benefits of being in the group versus being on your own then I don't see why it has to be a problem to extend the size of the group. Which would give the group more power and influence in society which is what we want we don't want A bunch of isolated individualists when The powers that be have extensive organization To get What they want done

@@kimwaldron2606 Thanks for your feedback. There are infinite ways to create and maintain a community, and birds of a feather should flock together. My preferred approach is to stay small and under the radar. Maybe I also feel that finding "like-minded freaks" for me to join with is not going to be easy? I do see your points and I encourage you to form your Tribe with like-minded friends, and make is as large as you like and can. You may like to read our Charter in the link below and see if it sparks your interest in adapting it or developing your own: freespiritssociety.org/charter Thanks!

@@KitchenMycology Thank you for your response. It may be speculation on my part but I suspect that ultimately the driver for the formation of larger type intentional communities will be the coming of radical change, of a negative sort, which the population will need some degree of security against and will happen when it realizes the government hasn't got a clue about how to deal effectively with that change. The other thing that I want to say is that.a common denominator for larger type intentional communities like the Amish or in Rojava is a strong ideology which binds the group together. They are not merely about self-interest, but involve some degree of willing self sacrifice on the part of their members. You can talk about the petty individualism and contention that is a factor in limiting size all you want. That is present now maybe because middle class Americans have been led to expect that they can have it all, just like the US government expects to have its own way throughout the world but the empire of the US is over as a world power able to ensure cheap oil and cheap products for its people by invading other countries and threatening economic sanctions against them. The smarter ones will sooner or later realize that unless they are able to act in a unified way and sacrifice for common worthwhile goals, their lives are going to take a drastic turn for the worse.

@@kimwaldron2606 I see your angle - where you're coming from. The only point I do not understand is why you believe that small communities are doomed to fail where large one will survive. I think each has its strengths and weaknesses, so can't this be argued both ways?
@KitchenMycology2 ай бұрын
@@kimwaldron2606 Also, I strongly agree with your point that Common Purpose is a very strong basis for a strong and successful community. For example, the Bruderhof Community's foundation is their Christian Beliefs, and they all practice what most of us outside would feel is too fundamentalist. But this is their backbone. And they are a large community. Great for them! kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3TZk3eofNV2qsk
