This tribute should have been given to the triumvirate... Burt Bacharach, Hal David, and Dionne Warwick. I wonder why Ms. Dionne was not acknowledged in this tribute. She is the original singer of most of Bacharach songs. She was the one who popularized and immortalized many of his songs that reached and captured the heart and soul of millions of music lovers around the world. Here in the Philippines, in our time , she was hailed as an international Pop Queen. There was a one- hour radio program here that played purely Dionne Warwick songs. Up to this day she is still being loved and followed by her Filipino fans.

Wow! This level of artistry on songs of genius is an absolute treat. I know it's unfair to single people out but... Stevie Wnder's confidence and mastery are always inspiring. He has NO equal! So rich on the keys and always utterly compelling vocally. I love that he loves Burt Bacharach. Diana Krall really understands The Look of Love! And Shelea makes Anyone who had a heart so organic. Arturo Sandobar is a joy. So layered! How accomplished! What a beautiful subtle voice Rumor has. I have made a new discovery! Lyle Lovett has this amazing winsome way he draws the audience so close, and he does that here. Sheryl Crowe just lets the song speak for itself, and with the perfect tone. Michael Feinstein, genius. so well-spoken and sang so sweetly. Burt and Hal, Bravo, Vale, and THANK YOU so much for music which has, as Michael Feinstein says, changed our lives. Beautiful XXX

Lucy: I will use this site to sign my formal tribute to the passing of this great man because I cannot be at his wake in person. I am a 22 yr old university student now, but I remember Mr. Bacharach picking me up with both hands as he spoke to my parents at the side stage door of the 3,200 seat Orpheum Theatre at the conclusion of his concert with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (VSO). The line up we were in to meet the maestro grew steadily in the slight drizzle until it stretched around the block and he told Dad that he was determined to greet every single one until no one was left standing in the rain. During this time I had somehow managed to claw my way up from his arms to sit on his shoulder as Mom held an umbrella over his head. Dad took the umbrella and continued to hold it as Mom picked me off Mr. Bacharach because I was beginning to mess with his hair. Mom put me down next to Mr. Bacharach and I reached up and held onto his jacket sleeve as he continued chatting with my parents and admirers coming by from the line up. I must have been about four years old then, but it felt like yesterday. ❤Diane, Vancouver, Canada. SaFE11/23. 01:43 am

@@monicalillis3294 Monica: Mom told me that the Vancouver concert we attended sold out in two days. We were so lucky to sit in the third row centre. My parents met audience members from Seattle, Montreal, Honolulu, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Sydney. Everyone just converged to this place where Mr. Bacharach was performing. I remember him sitting at his piano and he was really close to us and he conducted the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra himself while playing the piano and subtly directing the small group of singers he brought with him. Because I was about four years old I cannot recall the entire concert, but I do remember he opened with the song, “This Guy’s in Love with You.” One of the singers sang while Mr. Bacharach played the piano. The concert ended with Mr. Bacharach alone on stage in a darkened theatre with only one distant spotlight shining on him as he sang “Alfie” on the piano. I was only a little kid and all this felt magical to me. And after the show I got to climb and sit on the magician’s shoulder…now how magical was that. I’ve been re-listening to my parents’ collection of Burt Bacharach CDs these past several days when I arrive home from campus. It’s interesting how one song leads to another as I listened to my favourite “This Guy’s in Love with You” sung by Herb Alpert and then I Googled that he fronted a band called the Tijuana Brass and I come upon two musical gems, “A Taste of Honey” and “Spanish Flea.” Then I read that Herb Alpert is still married at 87 yr old now to Lani Hall, the former lead singer of Sergio Mendes’ Brasil 66. I listen to a wonderful song by the Brasil 66 called “Mas que nada” (pronounced “mash-kin-nah-da” in Portuguese which means “just nothing” or more informally “yeah, right!” or “no way!”). And then I encounter another Brazilian songstress from the same time period called Astrud Gilberto, making famous the song, “Trains and Boats and Planes,” written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David on lyrics! And there I was…I came full circle from Bacharach back to Bacharach through several countries! Just goes to show how internationally loved he is…what a musical giant he is. Got to hit the sack again Monica. I have classes tomorrow. ❤️Diane, Vancouver, Canada. ThFE16/23. 02:35 am

Monica: You are so far away. The only connection I have to your part of the world is my 101 yr old neighbour, Miss Marion Campbell. Her parents conceived her in Edinburgh and then moved to Dublin where she was born, making her an Irish national. Her parents moved again to London in her teens where she later became a nurse baking thousands of scones, muffins, and shortbread per day in the London subway Tube for the thousands of people seeking refuge from German bombs during the Battle of Britain in 1940. Her family moved to the U.S. after the War and she enrolled in and then graduated from Harvard University. She moved again; this time to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, to the house next to us with her sister, Margaret Campbell, and brother Murdock Campbell, who happened to be the city’s Fire Chief. With the family wealth inherited from her father, Captain Angus Campbell, of the Royal Navy, she methodically purchased street after street of commercial property in Vancouver’s run down areas and then rented them out to upscale businesses when these areas went through urban renewal. She taught my mother all those original recipes for the shortbread, muffins, and scones that she baked in the underground London subway during the War. She was also with my mother at the hospital when I was born; so, she is like my “third” Grandma. She has since moved into a seniors care home and I visit her every weekend with boiled and mashed yams and sweet potatoes and pudding and we spend about three hours together. Mom and Dad visits her usually on Wednesdays and in between Mom’s mom, my “real” Grandma, would go by her care home in the days between my and my parents’ visits. I got up out of bed to write to you, but I’ll get back to bed now and sleep for a few hours more before classes in the late morning. I can hear my school mate, Gizelle, snoring in the next room. She lives with us during the school year and is like a sister to me. She even some nights take up half of my bed and we sleep together when there’s a thunderstorm raging outside. Goodnight Monica….❤Diane, Vancouver, Canada. FrFE17/23. 05:41 am

I thought the versions perfotmed here really did justice to the songs. I watch this every now and then and find it uplifting. I can't find anything else that comes near it. And the entire event was outstanding, brilliantly produced, and how refreshing to be reminded what class Barack and Michelle have too, and they totally get it all. Lo de Stevie y Arturo, junto al coro y músicos que los acompañan es sencillamente EXTRAORDINARIO, una pasada.

All of the artists were great but I must give a shout out to Steve Wonder and the band. The guy playing the trumpet was awesome ( I should know his name). As for Rumer, what a beautiful, haunting voice. Burt Bacharach richly deserves all of the accolades and tributes. Thank you for uploading, Lucy Shropshire. Much appreciated.

Hey Skygazer! Thanks for your kind words. I've loved and performed Burt's music my whole career. He and Hal David are national treasures. Will look into who the trumpet player is. Peace!

Felicitaciones al clan Bacharach por la bella impronta de amor que han recibido y que su padre ha compartido con el mundo.
