Very sad to hear that Ron Ranson passed away....he touched countless hearts and brought so many aspiring artists through his classes, books and videos. He taught us that it wasn't about how much you put into a painting....but how much you left out of one!! Rest in Peace!!!

Dave, I studied with Ron Ranson from 2000 to 2005, and he is a fantastic teacher. This is a wonderful tribute to a fantastic gentleman and artist. Thanks for posting it.

Dave, I watched this tribute again and let me say how pleased I am that you made this video demonstration. Your complements are appreciated, but remember I had great first hand inspiration sitting there next to Ron while filming it. It's coming up now a year since we've lost him but his impact on my life and so many others remains. Best to you and keep the brush wet!

Dave, Beautiful tribute to Ron Ranson. After having watched his videos numerous time, I attended one of his seminar in May 2007. He impressed me as a no-nonsense and kind person. Ron was a lucky man who lived his life doing what he loved best. I am sure he appreciated friends like you, Mike Potter, Steve Cronin and a large quantity of followers throughout the world. He. graciously, dated and signed one of his instructional sketch. It is framed and on the wall of my den. He will live on through the legacy of his work. Ron, rest in peace!

Your tribute captured the true essence of him, it's so nice and generous definitely the same characteristics of his generous and gentle soul... I accidentally found Mr. Porter's video prior to this and it was beautifuly done! What a genius of watercolors Ron Ransom was... Thank you for doing this and sharing so much, also

Feeling inspired by all of the loving messages and inspiration he gave to countless people in his life and wanting to learn more about Ron, I have just purchased two of Ron Ransons books. Very much looking forward to him teaching and inspiring me through his books. It is a shame that all of Ron’s tutorial videos have not been made accessible to us all here on You tube.

Lovely painting! I have all I mean ALL if the books Ron published. How I wish I could have met him! Your painting was a fine tribute to Ron. May I ask what weight paper you used? Also, hot press, NOT, etc?

Hi Susie, I usually use 130lb studio practice paper bought in 100 sheet packs, nothing special but needs practice. Happy painting. :)

@@DaveUsherArt Spelling spot on! Which of the Cotman colours are on your butcher's tray. I had them written down but clicked the wrong button and lost them.

Cancel that - I tracked it down on your 'Beginning with large hake brush'. Clever me!
