This is fantastic! I grew up in WV about an hour down the road from where Williams grew up. As an elementary aged kid, I remember going to watch J-Will play high school games. This was very well done! Seeing those TMac clips brought back memories of being angry that Butch Carter wasn’t starting him at point. What could’ve been… I’m guessing you’re a Torontonian, so lemme ask you this, who’s the GROAT in your opinion? Here’s my list: 1 - VC. Without him, there’d be no Raptors in Toronto (for those who disagree, where are the Vancouver Grizzlies?). Sure, the way he left was terrible, but because of him, there are much more basketball nets in the GTA compared to hockey nets now. He brought that here. 2 - Kawhi. 1 year rental, but won us a chip. He didn’t want to be here, but he was a professional and played like a superstar. Sure he had load management, but because of him, the vets on our current roster learned to develop a “just play” attitude no matter what. 3 - Kyle. The most loved Raptor ever. Without Kawhi, he wouldn’t have a ring, so he can’t be the GROAT (sorry). Should he be the first to have his jersey retired and receive other accolades? Of course! Is he the GROAT? Can’t be. 4 - Demar.
@TriceOfficial2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed. Feel free to share the project with other Raptors fans! I think it's gotta be Vince Carter imo just based on the way he got the franchise off the ground and inspired this generation of Canadian hoopers. An argument could be made for any of the other three, obviously Kawhi brought the first ring and DeMar/Lowry helped elevate the franchise to a consistent contender, but without VC I don't know that any of them get the opportunity to do so. Still cool to see the Raptors have such a great list of "GROATs" considering how young the team is in comparison to others across the league!

I'd love to see the memorable dunk contest moments make a return, but I'm afraid until bigger names decide to sign up, it's just never gonna have the same electricity. It's hard to beat the hype generated by guys like MJ, Dominique Wilkins, Kobe, and Vince Carter.

Some of the most unrealistic and incredible basketball was played then. All around great. What people or kids today don’t realize is that TOUGH DEFENSE makes the offense try harder and be more creative to get around the defense. That’s why the 80’s and 90’s were some of the most intense games. Dam time flies. Miss it maaaan🙏🏼❤️😔

Toronto would've still be a championship city. But maybe not by this time. I believe Carter's impact into the Canadian basketball scene made it so much that the ripples continued on until eventually they did win the big one. 2019 won't be Toronto's last championship but I believe 2019 could've been questionable without Carter. Still, VC is my favorite athlete and the Raptors will always be my childhood team even if I wasn't born there. And I will look forward to the day that the Raptors wins another gold to be added into their trophy case.

I remember watching the first game when the nets played the raptors and confused why people were booing vince. Like bro was our star, he got traded why boo him. I wouldve cheered for him like how when sundin got traded and that first game he played against us he got cheers

VC and Tmac were primed to be the new school Jordan Pip. The turning point was him going to his graduation during the playoffs and I think the NBA had it in for him after that. Then the splits and trades happened and Kobe officially took the baton from MJ.

Thanks for making this, but wish you hadn’t made it such a VC puff piece. Leaving out how vince stopped trying in his last season, with career low averages of 15.9 points and 3.3 rebounds and field goal percentage of .411 (which all immediately improved once traded) and announcing that he wasn’t going to dunk anymore and basically killing his trade value meaning the raptors got almost nothing in return for someone who just 12 months earlier had the highest trade value in the league…. Including vince’s quote of how he would never disrespect the game, when in fact that’s exactly what he did and not including all the negatives of him forcing a trade and giving up on his team and teammates makes it an unbalanced piece. I’d love to see you make a piece dedicated to that part of the story.
@TriceOfficial Жыл бұрын
I appreciate your comment and I'm glad you enjoyed! I'm sure there will be a time at some point where I can dive into more of the reasons Vince left and the rest of his career, but I really wanted this specific piece to be more centered around his peak with the Raptors and his impact on basketball in Canada. Anything else would've taken away from that focus. Obviously things didn't end great in Toronto, but I wanted to moreso focus on the healing that came afterwards and where the relationship stands now. Thanks for watching!
