13:14 something I've noticed in this devlog is this implies or straight confirms that trike and rex are getting sparring animations, which may mean a special animation set for these two animals or they will be able to interspecies spar with another of their own kind with trike it should be a simple copypaste of dibbles spar but im curious what rex could do

All the ceratops gonna be copy and paste I'm sure, with each of them having a bit of their own "spunk" and I think for the t rex and other large carnivores they might lock jaws together or grab each other's necks and you have to break out of it

iirc sparring will be something any playable can do as long as it makes sense for that playable, like it still makes sense for a Rex to be able to ram things with it's head most of the time (except things with horns or spikes like Trike or Kentro) but it doesn't make sense for a Dilo to ram things with it's head, though it might be able to spar in other ways, I dunno. But I'm on the side of making almost all playables able to spar with their own species since it would give people something to do other than just killing.

It was confirmed that interspecies sparring will be a thing. I hope it's more complex than whoever has the most mass wins. More mass would be a big advantage, but I also hope there are other metrics that decide a spar like positioning, timing, stamina, and special abilities. It makes me wonder what other animals will have sparring. It also makes me wonder how sparring abilities will function vs animals that don't have sparring.

@@crabhater9373 Though size should have a significant role, because bigger animals are not only going to be harder to push around just by simply being heavier, they are going to have more strength aswell. Though if it is a small difference then it should depend mostly on the player, so like, if two Trikes are sparring and one is 100-200kg smaller than the other the advantage the difference in weight should be small enough that the smaller player can make up for it with skill.

@@alunaticwithashotgun9840 I really just don't understand what winning means in a spar. Do you drain their stamina? Do you get a critical hit? How do you even win in the first place? Pretty sure Rex will be heavier than trike, does that mean Rex always wins the spar? Whatever those answers are, I hope the mechanic is dynamic enough that experienced players don't automatically win if they have a bit more mass

I'm also very glad global chat is not touching officials, and I hope it never does. This game is so unique, and sometimes those wordless interactions are so wholesome. It still feels just as much of a social game, just in a different way. I love that.

Agreed, I'm not the biggest fan of global chat, but I'm glad those who want it got it for unofficial servers. I prefer the more natural encounters, global chat in my opinion promotes too much mix packing, and mega herds. Although it is good for finding groups of your species.

In terms of where people spawn i always grow as a carni in South plains area and usually see lots of people, but there is definitely still this obsession with players going to NE Plains

You can no longer spawn at the lake, and they removed the spawn completely from some creatures. This is only in the horde testing branch atm. Should get pushed to main evrima branch soon

This game is hemorrhaging players and that is why Dondi and his devs are finally implementing some of the changes we've been asking about for years now. It makes me laugh because Dondi is so stubborn that he kills his own game because of it. Should have had global chat from day 1 with the option for a player to hide the chat if they don't want to see it. Increasing growth times is just a dumb idea. It will push more people away from the game. You can be killed in just a few seconds yet it takes you hours to grow. That isn't very fun. Long growth times also incentivize people to play like cowards, to mixpack for easy kills and to cheat or just run away from every encounter. Shorter growth times would encourage players to play more naturally and be willing to take more risky maneuvers and hunts.

@@halfslyced something about carnos charge too though, idk. but the changes definitely seem good, i just feel like carno is still the most lacking playable in the game (fun and content wise). bro feels like a robot and has 2 of the most simplest abilities, a bite and a charge. just feel like they shoud make carno more diverse and fun (sorry about a rant, cant help myself when carno is mentioned in the isle)

@@halfslyced yeah in combat, its actually really fair and good, but it still feels *kinda* shitty and robotic with that bad drift. its like the overall concept of carnotaurus as a dinosaur doesnt seem very true. i feel like maybe if they SLIGHTLY, VERY SLIGHTLY (but noticable ofc) buff the turn and make the drift on carno better, carno can be a bit better, and ofc some charge changes to make it feel smoother that they already mentioned.

Before I get into this I just want to say I enjoyed this video. I like most of your talking points. That being said, you complained that they are adding a new more powerful attack to stego. Firstly they are adding a new powerful attack because its getting its apex kit. Secondly you called it Op but just got done saying rex and trike are coming sooner than you expected. When those two come out stego will not be op. Lastly, in the last dondi stream, it was said that deino is getting the ability to grab and drown adult stegos. If you want to talk about op, how about the ability to take a 4 hour grow time away from someone without giving them a chance to defend against it. It would suck to spend 4 hours of your life growing only to go for a drink of water and get drowned by a deino. Knowing dondi''s obsession with rex and judging from how he handled rex on legacy, hes gonna make it body deino and stego like they weren't even there. Trike will easily body a stego, they weighed 8 to 12 tons. I get it, stego has been unmatched since its release on legacy. That doesn't make it over powered it just means there hasn't been any competition for it until rex and trike come out.

I'm talking about the fact how powerful stego is compared to the rest of the roster as it is right now. Rex and triceratops aren't being added to officials, and stego is staying on official. And if they decide to give stego an "apex killing" attack before apexes are added to officials, then the attack is going to be absurd.

nothing in this current roster is meant to hunt or compete against stego though. That would be like me going into a boxing ring and my opponent has a gun. There isn't a fair comparison that allows the statement, "stego is op". The devs didn't put stego or deino in this game early because they thought they would be fair. They put them in to hold a slot for future apex dinos. Yes stego and deino are the current two most powerful species on the isle evrima. But neither are op. They just havn't met their competition yet.@@halfslyced

@@corylance364 they haven't said when they are removing it, and the fact deino is going to be able to drag a full grown stef underwater soon, they made it so you can't hit dienos as a stego now, and they are adding a "pounced to pinned" mechanic. All this is seemingly leading to solutions for them to try to keep stego on official. But I hope I'm wrong

Are you trolling or are you actually serious? Gotta be trolling. Nobody is this ignorant. You do realize that the vast majority of us made our friends in legacy through global chat don't you? In fact every single person in my Discord are people that I met while playing The Isle legacy and met them through group chat. Taking the group chat away is one of the reasons why this game has been dying and is on life support. It also helps to call out rule breakers in chat vs having to get killed by them, pray that you happened to be recording, save the recording, upload it to KZbin then sit around for hours while you wait for a moderator to review your ticket. A lot of times you can call someone out in global for rule breaking and they will either stop, or an admin can TP over and observe. If the mod sees a rule break they can make an announcement in global telling the person to stop or they will be punished. Global chat is essential to this games survival.

@@kenshinhimura9387 considering the fact you are mentioning rule breaks I assume you are on an unofficial discord for whatever legacy server you are referring to. And global chat just further provides more tools for mixpackers to utilize which in turn... Creates more rulebreakers than it does help at all. But yet again... I have no problem with global chat being an option and people have the right to enjoy it. Just not my cup of tea.
