Who cares about MSI laptops being upgradable when if you replace the thermal paste to improve longevity and thermals, you warranty is now void? Replaced my thermal paste on my GPU as it was suddenly going max RPM while not blowing blazing hot air. Naturally I went in for a repaste and found a large cavitation on the chip with paste baked into it. Sent it for an RMA and they refused any diagnostics whatsoever since I broke their void sticker. I am currently in an out of court settlement case with them as of today. They still haven't changed their stance and it seems I will have to sue them. GO MSI!!!

I would be in the middle to be honest. I don't mind the thicker laptop and I rarely find myself using the trackpad or keyboard anytime I have enough space to pull out real keyboard and mouse. Especially since you can get decent tkl low profile mechanical keyboards now. The only time you really don't have that much room is on a plane and honestly I would be more likely to use a handheld or a tablet in that case or just be watching a movie on it. If your hauling a laptop your typically using a backpack anyways so the difference in weight and thickness isn't much of an issue. Where the thick one loses me is the screen, i don't really care for a high refresh rate 1080p screen and I definitely would prefer a larger screen. I much rather have a more color accurate 1440p screen. Ideally if I am spending over 2k in a laptop I kinda want to start seeing oled in them. The other issue I have with the 15 inch is that can really be replaced by something like an ipad anymore for 90% of work and is way better for content consumption. The few times I want a laptop is because I want the bigger screen because what I am working on might be terrible on a small screen. As far as sound quality and how loud the fans are I wouldn't really care since I am would be using a pair of headphones over the built in speakers in almost any circumstance on either.

For me, the three most important things (in order) for a good laptop are... 1. Durability (shock resistance and drop resistance) 2. How well does it work as a portable device? (Resting on your legs is the laptop's ventilation blocked or do your legs get hot?) 3. How quiet is it? I don't care about battery life, screen quality, keyboard quality, and trackpad quality since they are always pretty good on laptops that are over two thousand. dollars.

The last time I bought an MSi laptop that you recommended, I needed to get an RMA, and MSi left me out to dry. They wouldn’t respond to e-mails, they blocked me on social media, ended phone calls while I was on hold… I didn’t even express anger to them. Disappointment, yes. But I wasn’t offensive, I was just in a predicament because they sent me a defective product and wouldn’t ship it to Japan when I’d be living there by the time they’d receive the GS70 Stealth Pro 2QE. To the other viewers, I strongly recommend against buying MSi’s laptops. I hope they’ve changed as a company, but if they haven’t, they don’t support their most premium products.

Bro, if your use case involves "sending replacement to an entirely different country" you're going to be disappointed. Laptop makers are not concierges.

@@planefan082 I’ve had fantastic support from Apple tbh.

@@ssl3546 $1700 system, bought in America, shipped with a dead pixel and a bottom shell that could be clicked and not tightened flush. I had two months before I left the country, and I spent them trying to get an RMA while I was still here. They still led me to dead-ends by hanging up when I was on hold. I’d get close to support, be put on hold, then the call would drop.

@@zizimugen4470 Yep. Not my favourite brand but their support is still quite good.

I would buy the GS77 if it had a MUX switch, the GPU was higher wattage, and the screen had FreeSync+GSync. Hoping MSI add those to next year’s revision if I haven’t bought a Legion 5 Pro by then…
@Ryne4S2 жыл бұрын
wouldn't that be too much to ask?
@suitknol66042 жыл бұрын
How stupid to both want a mux, and a free/gsync screen. You won't be using both at the same time
@MerryBlind2 жыл бұрын
@@Ryne4S Not for the price they’re asking for. Also increasing the wattage seems feasible since it’s pretty silent and cool at the current wattage. MUX switch was part of the specs when it was unveiled at CES but didn’t make it to the released product for some reason.

@@suitknol6604 How stupid to call others stupid when you know less than they do. FreeSync is to work with Optimus when MUX switch is disabled. G-Sync is for when MUX switch is enabled. The Lenovo Legion 5 Pro does exactly this.

I actually bought an MSI laptop for business use a few years ago. Specs were great for the money, but drivers were garbage out of the box. Speakers sounded terrible and headset never worked right. Uninstalling the crappy drivers made things better, but still not great... Battery failed in the machine extremely quickly as well... Would NOT recommend...

Had the same experience, drivers were crap and the battery died in under a year and the Replacement battery didnt hold much longer. For the price I paid... nope never ever MSI again for me. XMG makes the most reliable Laptops imo. Their driver support is insanely good and the BIOS has much more options than I ever saw on a Laptop.
