@SaulOhio8 жыл бұрын
Phantomhive And those plans are all wrong. He has proudly assumed the label of socialist, so what are you complaining about. Of course, THIS time, socialism is going to work. After hundreds of socialist experiments all around the world, THIS time it will be different. SOMEHOW its going to be different from Chavez's "21st Century socialism". Taking money out of politics is not going to change anything. That is TRYING to take money out of politics isn't going to change anything. The cronyism and corruption is not a product of capitalism or economic inequality, but of the mixed economy. If government officials have power over the economy, if they have the power of life and death over businessmen, businessmen will do what they have to to get power over government, both out of self-defense, and to take advantage of government power for themselves. What is needed is a separation of economic and state the same way we have a separation of church and state.

It is very interesting to read up on how we transitioned from a hunter/gatherer self sufficient society to the full blown capitalism we have today. Trade was born out of necessity for efficiency but as always there have always been greedy and deceitful people out there to rig the system starting with the concept of Kings. I still cannot comprehend how people bought the idea that these families were given a God given right to oppress and rule over all. I'm glad the French woke up and took them to the guillotine. People starving while Marie Antoinette was parading with all of the luxury the world had to offer. We don't need Tax Cuts for Billionaires and multi-national corporations____ We_Need_JOBS!!!___ FACT: Billionaires and Giant Corporations are NOT the primary job creators; when billionaires & Giant Corporations get more money, only a tiny, tiny bit goes back into the American economy (Q: How many homes, cars, meals, services, etc. can each billionaire buy?__ A: not so many). Billionaires & Giant Corporations don't create jobs with their money, instead they hide their money in off shore accounts, search for tax shelters by moving factories off shore to low wage countries, and then gamble with that money for profits on wall street, to make more Money!!!__not jobs.***THE REAL JOB CREATORS are the poor and the middle class: when poor and middle class families get more money, they **SPEND it** in the local economy. When money is spent in the local economy on homes, cars, goods, food, services, etc, etc, etc, it creates **PAYCHECKS**. Paychecks in the hands of consumers, creates **DEMAND**, demand creates... **** J - O - B - S ! ! ! ! ! **** Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding!!!!To create JOBS, we need to eliminate corporate welfare and subsidies, eliminate excessive tax breaks to billionaires & Giant Corporations, and then use THAT MONEY to raise the minimum wage to get that money into the hands of THE REAL JOB CREATORS!!!!!. This will get poor people off of welfare, and get them working, turning them into **CUSTOMERS** and supporting the small local business' that are owned by us Middle Class people (i.e.; plumbers, dentists, mechanics, painters, contractors, computer techs, truck drivers, salespeople, teachers, entrepreneurs, shop owners, etc, etc, etc, etc) . It's not rocket science, it's common sense.The Billionaires keep telling everyone that THEY are the Job creators and that THEY need more and more and more and more Money so that THEY can think about creating jobs. BULL SHIT!!!! Where are those Jobs????? Please don't be Fooled or Foxed or Rushed by the Billionaires. Instead, ***THINK*** Because thinking is Patriotic! We need to elect Democratic Socialist representatives, locally, in Congress and to the Presidency who will help the middle class and fix the economy. Hooray!!! Go-o-o-o Bernie Sanders!!! Trickle Down, a speech by Senator Bernie Sanders about what the misguided Republican theory known as "trickle down" economics has done to the American middle class and to working families. In a country in which Consumer Demand makes up 70% of the economy, approximately ZERO percent of income growth since 2009 has gone to the bottom 99%. The result is income inequality: great wealth co-existing with complete wage stagnation and continuing pockets of horrendous poverty. Wages have been stagnant and unions have been struggling ever since Ronald Reagan was in office. The time has come for Congress to stop slavishly serving the 1% and go back to doing its job: serving The American People as a whole, with a special focus on the middle class, working families, and the poor. For all the rapid growth and high-flying stock market we've experienced, American can grow even faster if we invest in our people instead of starving them. America deserves a raise! #economy #economicgrowth #incomeinequality #consumer #demand #Clinton #Warren #Sanders #Election2016

Spot on Bernie. Spot on. We got screwed. I got screwed, literally, to keep my job. And subsequently my family got screwed, too. We are still reeling from it and struggling to recover. I'm one of the middle class you are talking about. I somehow managed to hang on to my home but I had purchased the cheapest house in my town - a little 1948 war cottage on a postage stamp of a lot. There are three families living in my 900 SF cottage plus detached garage. I had people sleeping on my couch and living in tents pitched in my yard during that time. It was bad. Really bad. And all the young adults that came of age during this time. It was horrible for them. Jobless, lost, aimless, fed a pile of lies their whole lives being told if they just did good in elementary school, so they could do good in high school, so they could get into college, then they would automatically get a great job and be able to buy a home, a car, a big screen TV and live happily ever after! BS! Ha ha ha. Poor kids. They were not prepared for THIS reality AT ALL!!! How did I not commit suicide? Too many people depending on me. I HAD to stay strong. And how do I stay relatively happy? Cuz I THINK THERE IS KARMA!!! I don't have to worry about those greedy, predatorial fucks becuz I believe the universe will take care of them for me. This I rest assured on. I believe this life is but a small yet consequential blip in the big scheme of things so I'm not worried that it might not happen NOW becuz it WILL happen in its own time. I like the way J.K. Galbraith explained supply-side theory: "The rich don't work because they have not enough money; The poor don't work because they have too much money. If you believe that, you'll believe anything". BTW, corporate taxes contribute 0.9% of federal revenue and effective corporate tax rates (what they actually pay) is 17%, compared with 50% in 1952 and the lowest in records that go back to WWII. If their effective rate increased to 22%, the deficit would disappear..

@simpleravenraven63588 жыл бұрын
It is not an easy task for a country to get a good leader. The democratic system is infested with the "not so good leaders'" propaganda. Yet millions of people must vote for the good leader on the same day. If the good leader is selected, soon the party will be over and the people will settle back into their couches and watch what he or she will do. They will find out that it is very little. In order to change the way things are done the leader needs, not just votes on election day, but a political revolution. The people who voted must relentlessly maintain pressure in order to help the "good leader" achieve their goal. A real change will only happen if the people strongly want it and the leader leads them united to achieve their goal. Possible but not easy. We all know what the other alternative is.

***** "the immorality of socialism" well as far as i am aware, it isn't socialism currently in the process of destroying the ecosystem, nor is it because of socialism that we are pushed into a state of endless war for profit. Libya was a socialist country that was doing just fine, look at it now. Libertarianism is a religion, even Ayn Rand couldn't adhere to it, running to the government to pay her medical bills.

I listen to this man and all I think is; how come there are so many people in government that really just don't give a shit about this country? People need to come together. Not support for blacks, gays, free trade, etc.But for strengthening our country, where high ideals are already in place.
@jscottupton8 жыл бұрын
There is no economic "school of thought" that teaches "trickle down economics". It is a very colorful, but inaccurate term that has no place in the discussion of economics. The REAL debate in economics is "markets vs central planning". Right now our government school system is organized under "central planning" not markets. It is expensive and doesn't do a very good job (except in those suburban neighborhoods where teachers compete for a chance to teach there because it is so desirable). If you really want to help the economy then you should support free market reforms.

Based on the analysis of the economy I compile every six months, it is clear that our problems are systemic and will continue whether the Congressional majority is Democrat or Republican. I suspect that few on the Left or the Right have studied economics or are consulting with economists who actually understand what is going on in our society. Sadly, there are too few within ranks of the economic discipline. Politics does indeed determine economic outcomes, and the politics of our society is dominated by the "rent-seeking" interests of individuals and groups who by virtue of the laws of the land are able to claim an increasing portion of what others produce. And, as a side-effect, a growing number of individuals are not able to produce anything although they would be very willing to do so. The measures needed to turn this situation around are well-described by several economics professors, of which I highlight only three: Mason Gaffney (emeritus, U. of California), Fred Foldvary (San Jose State University) and Joseph Stiglitz (former World Bank economist). What they all call for is dramatic changes in how government at all levels raises its revenue, moving to the taxation of the rent of land and any gains on the sale of land and land-like assets. This one systemic change will do more to correct the maldistribution of income and wealth in our society than any other measure.

Democratic Republic of Congo is a real place. It is literally Lord of the Flies. There is no appeal to emotion - or anything else. Congo effectively has no taxes, and so no government, court system, roads, or anything else - everything in Congo (all social costs/risks) is shifted into the individual. So a true Libertarian paradise.

Senator Sanders is a big government zealot that should know better. The fact is the most free market economies do the best. Look at Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand, and Switzerland. The freest economies not only have the most prosperity but also the least poverty. Big government socialist policies only bring equality of poverty. People in countries that practice what Sanders wants have shortages of basic staples, just look at Venezuela, Cuba, and North Korea.

***** Switzerland's total government spending is still only 34.1% of GDP compared to our 40%. Their freedom rating is higher too.www.heritage.org/index/country/switzerland

Sanders' speech is only partly about whether the economy is booming or not. It's mostly about who's reaping the benefits of economic recoveries. Switzerland also has universal health care and enforces its corporate tax rates more effectively. If you want to use them as a model to emulate, you should be willing to copy everything that contributes to their success.
@DavidAdkins789 жыл бұрын
Sambal Oelek not at all. A free economy is also about trade, immigration, labor, property rights, regulations, and taxes. Switzerland could do better really, but they're ahead of us.
@pugnatio9 жыл бұрын
David Adkins If an economy can be free and still have extensive regulation and consistent taxation, that would make Sanders a free-economy zealot. Switzerland and perhaps New Zealand are the only countries on your list whose success would be realizable by us, for ideological reasons. Switzerland is not ahead of us, if being ahead means deregulating industry, removing access to health care, and taxing inequitably. In that sense we're way ahead of them :)

We have 340 million Americans in this country. Yet, look at the number of people (above) listening to the facts of what Sen. Sanders is saying about what has been going on, and by whom it has been perpetrated. People expect a country as vast as America to run on its own like some kind of a wind-up toy. They don't want to engage. They don't want to turn off the sports and put down the beer and get involved in the running of THEIR country. It goes to show what a bang-up job the media, the churches, and the politically motivated have done in brainwashing the people of America. George W. Bush said it best (paraphrase): "Don't worry about the running of this country. Let us handle that. You just go shopping." Only children would think that having a democracy is something you don't have to defend from the predatory ruination of the Right and Right-leaning Left. Democracy is NOT a spectator sport. We all have to do something no matter how small that may be to insure our freedoms and keep us out of the clutches of those who only want to enslave us and see us only as a commodity, like stockyard cattle. It is stunning and appalling what has happened to us. The sooner we get on it, the sooner we start the trek back out of the weeds.

I really hope he will be the next president, even americans deserve a break every 100 years lol. After FDR there hasn't been a single decent one with maybe the exception of john kennedy. The usa has to much influence around the world to not be concerned with the way the usa is declining the last decade. Its not some little island nobody cares about. It will be harder to do it without unleashing revolt, making whoever would concider it think twice if it would really bennefit them And if he where killed, the people will demand someone like him to continue his legacy. Doesn't mean offcourse that it is impossible someone would be stupid enough to do it anyway.

Infrastructure jobs don't create prosperity when the private sector (mom and pop small businesses) have to pay for them. There is too much infrastructure in my opinion and it is used for the wrong things (like spying on the American public). It's best we go back to living in and off of nature instead. I say we need to cut the bloated budget of The Department of Transportation. We need basic roads for driving, not an electronic dystopia of red-right and speed cameras pointed at us trying to bilk us out of money and deny us our natural rights.
