Tricky is a titan of Trip Hop. Trip Hop in general is such a wonderful genre. Production on this track is light years ahead.

Ah, that moment in the mid-'90s, when I simultaneously discovered Tricky, Massive Attack, Portishead, Autechre, The Orb, Orbital, Aphex Twin, U-ziq, Meat Beat Manifesto, Mouse on Mars and Ultramarine. Too good to believe. Now years can pass without any interesting, not to mention electrifying music.

+PapuStronk The trickster is not underrated at all, in my opinion. I'm glad he's not mainstream. I'm glad he's unique, and that not many people know of him. I've been listening to this album, Maxinquaye, since I was 12. Found it in my brother's room, where I used to listen to his records and CDs. He was a music buff, and for that I'm grateful to this day. That's nearly 20 years, well over a lifetime for me. So yeah, he's not underrated in MY opinion. (:

PapuStronk I start to think that when people says "underrated" they actually mean "not famous". I dont care about music being famous. Most of the stuff I like it's not mainstream. The mainstream is a big scam. I mean some good music is mainstream but the whole thing about fame is make believe and prefab business. Music outside mainstream is not underrated and always alive. Everybody who knows Tricky know he is a genius.
@search8957 жыл бұрын

People just like to make the statement for lack of anything to say. There's one in every thread who likes the sound of the word "underrated" and has no idea what it means and they are talking about. Like OP.

Hell yea. I was just asking some people on the previous number for recommendations cuz im kinda new to trip hop. I found MA Mezzanine and Portishead Dummy and got hooked. I dig numbers with female vocals and the one cat who sings on "Angel". I knew of Topley Bird from MA and of course loved her so this record is turning out PERFECT for me. I don't know what it is about the female vocals on these beats but its nasty. Love it. So i agree with the 3 records being the Holy Trinity lol. And on a rainy day even better. Then again for me theres nothing better than a rainy day. Add a "cuppa" as yal in the UK say and its 👌👌👌. Peace

I'm a recovering alcoholic and drug addict for 6 years now. I haven't even had a cigarette in 5 years, When I drank and drugged, I bummed and stole money for them. Those chemicals and drugs destroyed me. Now I'm doing a master's degree. Since It took the poisons out of my system, it has allowed me to turn my life around 360%. The point you are making dear is an existential truth. Alcohol and drug dependency are but a symptom of a far deeper malaise with the self. I did it to myself and have taken responsibilty for those actions. However, the fact remains that for some, alcohol and drugs are what fuel that self destructive fire within,. I personally think hashish and weed are the two most overrated of all time. I have met far far more people who have negative shit to say about the drug. I have met many who would have extolled the virtues of it endlessly and boringly for years for them too later 'give it up' as they felt it had robbed them of much of their ambition, drive and sense of adventure. If you have a different opinion, that is fine but I can assure you, my mind and soul would NOT have been eaten away by Hashish and weed had I never had become addicted to it. If you don't care to accept this point, you can go and Kiss my firm left buttock dear. .
