I was in Japan last month and saw Trident live twice in Osaka and Shinjuku and they were awesome...at the Osaka gig they played 16 songs and absolutely rocked the place, hugely underrated band. At Shinjuku they played a three band concert with Broken by the Scream and Hanabie in a packed small venue and it was fantastic, during Trident's first song Hanabie's drummer Sae ran from back stage and dived into the audience for a bit of a crowd surf...a concert I will never forget.

Nice reaction. Love this song. As a Band-Maid fan I find that Trident's latest songs like this and Spoopy fits in very nicely with BM songs in my playlists. Oh and they got extra points from me because Nagisa, the drummer tweeted that she was very excited to be playing on the same day as Band-Maid on the 2022 Merry Rock Parade on Dec 18.

TRiDENT has been at it nearly as long as Band-Maid. If they weren't any good or at least making progress, they would have disbanded. It could have happened when Junna left the band, but with the pick up of the equally talented Nagisa they forged ahead. I love they didn't give up as they only gotten better.

@@bruthabluto8824 I thought same thing about the covers they did at the 246. Something about those covers really showed a different side of them. Asaka and Serina had showed technical and vocal ability I had not seen from them before.

Not sure who was saying they didn't have any good songs before Spoopy. They have some pretty good songs out before Spoopy was released, and some just ok songs. But with Spoopy and the EP they just put out, the bar got raised to a new level for Trident. All the songs on the EP are really good IMO and Spoopy is the best. But some of their older stuff is worth checking out, Ambivalent is a personal favorite of mine.

EVERYONE lmao it's like all over my comments for Spoopy. I haven't really heard less than quality tho from them. Think it had something to do with the drummer.

@@TheChampOfMedium The band originally had a different drummer, Junna. Went viral for a video she did plying Through the Fire and the Flames. But back then the band had a different name too. Admittedly I haven't listened to anything under the old band name. But I've heard and read a lot of the issues were Junna was a bad band mate, not necessarily the music being bad.
@ramair3judge

@@deathsyth27 I think Junna became more ambitious and self-promoting as they went on. They were all great friends from what I could tell. They have a whole other channel where they uploaded videos doing other things together outside of being a band.

No one said they only did one good song - most people who have followed the band since they started think they were good from the start but lacked something to get in the top league. Since Spoopy - and Cry out now - they got it: great producers (different for each song though) who give much more dynamic to their songs (before, it was a rapidly tiring wall of sound from start to finish).

Hell yeah TRiDENT have it going on all day! Spoopy may have been there best but it was just their first ten after a large pile of mid nines. Nagisa on drums is always a beast. Try Ambivalent or No Regret (live) or Continue or Last Hope.

Trident are a bad band? WTF? Looks like I'm gonna have to fight some people. 'Spoopy' was a great song, but it doesn't mean the band is bad because their other songs aren't all equally as great. That would be like if someone thought BAND-MAID was a bad band because they didn't like 'Chemical Reaction'. 😉

Band-Maid is by far my favorite band, but I have always loved Trident from their beginnings as GRBK, when Junna was their drummer. It still drives me crazy that Band-Maid and Trident don't get the recognition they deserve. Although, my favorite Trident song is still when they were GRBK, Trident is great! After Junna left, they all really raised their game, too. I think they might have realized that Junna was in a different class and they needed to step up and did!

Spoopy might be their most innovative song - maybe that's where the "one good song" take came from? Either way it's a bad take. Personally I like Cry Out more, and Ambivalent is my favourite. I've seen quite a few other people say the same about Ambivalent. It doesn't have a high view count, but I think that's just because the video is live footage rather than being an official MV.

Great reaction. Spoopy is definitely their best, but by no means their only good song. I also really like Continue since that was the first one I heard. They were ガールズロックバンド革命 (Girl's Rock Band Revolution) from 2016-2020 with original drummer Junna. When Junna left, and the brought in Nagisa, the band's name changed to Trident. I'm finding I like their newer stuff more than their older stuff, although I haven't heard a lot of it yet.

Her vocals (or at least the production on her voice) is actually my major gripe I have with Trident's sound from the couple of CD's I own by them. The only exception is the drum production on their full album which is not good (they might have been using bad quality samples on an e-kit or with triggers), the newer ones are better. You can hardly hear Asaka's real voice at all in most of their stuff, it's all overprocessed with tons of artificial harmonization and pitch-correction. So while she might have a good voice, I actually started to doubt she has because why would you otherwise cover it up so much? I have a feeling Serina's vocals might be better because they are usually not as processed (I feel the same about Hettsu's vocals in Hanabie over Matsuri's, it's very clear live). That said, I do like Asaka's guitar playing and I think she does a good job in general, playing in a 3 piece band can't be easy. All 3 of them are clearly talented as far as their instruments go. But I also own a DVD of one of their live concerts which I haven't watched yet, so I hope that one will completely change my mind on her vocals (hopefully they didn't process the DVD too much). I typically enjoy most Japanese bands more live (with some exceptions) because the vocal (over)production usually kills it for me and they typically don't do it that much live. I have recently watched a streamed live set with terrible vocals from a "great vocalist" that seems to be revered (so it can go the other way). But that set also changed my mind on Nana (Fate Gear, there were 3 bands in that live set) and while I still really don't like last 2 EP's of Fate Gear because of the vocal production, they killed it live without all that fake production. And that comes from someone who basically got this set to give Fate Gear a final chance because I somewhat gave up on me liking their stuff. As far as the song goes, I don't really love everything I have heard by them, but I enjoy this one. Spoopy is probably still my favourite (the processing works for me on that one for some reason), but this one is good.

@@robertandre778 The mix on the one ガールズロックバンド革命 (Girls Rock Band Kakumei) EP that I own is better than the mix of the first Trident album imo and I prefer that EP over the album and EP's I own of Trident because of that. I don't own the EP with Voltage on it since you can't really get those anymore unfortunately (they cancelled my order). I do own 2 EP's of Trident where they basically rerecord tracks of their ガールズロックバンド革命 albums and they at least sound better as far as the mix of the drums go. I do still feel like her vocals are too treated for my personal taste though, which is a shame, but it is what it is. I know a lot of people love that more J-pop inspired production since most bands seem to gravitate towards it. I will check out those covers later, I don't think I have heard those before. I have heard Voltage before, it's probably one of my favourite songs by them.

Yea they are wrong Trident last 2 albums are really good but they rise to a different level with these new releases but trident even when they were girls rock band with Junna was great but since they got the new drummer there music has become less straight forward abd a little more progressive

Spoopy aside (it’s unequivocally awesome), I always want to like Trident more than I do. I think what it is is that he singer’s voice often hangs out in a mid-high range that is uncomfortable/grating for me to listen to when it stays there for too long. Happens a bit in the chorus for this song. But the riffs are so good, and other parts are so kinetic that I wish I could get into more.

My piece of advice is this one, if you haven't already just check out Tridant Voltage with Trident's former marvel their former drummer Junna whom crashed them ...Nagisa is more balanced with the Trident Band. By the way my favourite japanese drummers are 1) Junna 2) Akane from Band Maid, 3) Nagisa Trident and a young marvel Yoyoka...
