There are a lot of gems from many years ago too that I think many people should watch, by directors like Sathyan Anthikkad, Fazil, Lal Jose, Ranjith, Lohithadas etc. but I do understand that it's probably less accessible considering older films aren't as subtitled or dubbed. I hope that with this increase in interest in the Malayalam film industry that more older movies get subtitled and/or dubbed too because there are just so many more beautiful films to discover for those who are just getting into this language of films :)

I really feel Mathu Vadalara 2 should have been in the list …. It was an amazing experience to watch it in theatre and uniquely directed , specially if you understand the Telugu references. “Not a single Kannada movie made it to the list. I’m not complaining, but we’ve been expressing our frustration with Sandalwood for a long time, and it feels like no one listens. All the good movies out there share a common pattern: a solid script (because writers are valued and paid well), excellent direction (where the director is respected and professionally trained), a hero who doesn’t overshadow the director or producers, and top-notch production quality with a skilled technical team. Unfortunately, these qualities seem to be missing in Sandalwood.”

This is the fate of our Kannada movies. Despite good movies are coming it will always remain underrated. Main reasons is our own Kannada people don't go to theater to which these movies (excluding star hero movies) n naturally buzz will not be created. Now, coming to Bhageera, Bhairathi Ranagal, UI n Max though it has/is got/getting good response in Karnataka.... not sure if the movie is not accessible to review OR purposefully ignored. The reason why I get this feel is every industry mass movie is being reviewed (even non-pan India movie) but our industry's mass movies are ignored in this channel.

Never enjoyed a movie as much as I enjoyed AAVESHAM, in a long, long time. It was a movie that showed how a MASS entertainer should be made. "Keep your brains at home and enjoy" is what people say when they talk about mass movies that become blockbusters. To that, I say, "Why? Why should I be dumb to enjoy a movie?. Why can't I enjoy a movie WITH brains?" And that's what I felt while watching AAVESHAM. Intelligently written, tongue-in-cheek (the dumb charade scene was a hoot!) and a great background score...all added to make it a smart entertainer. I've already watched it two times. Another movie that came close to this kind of entertainment was RIFLE CLUB. Again, what a movie! Clever writing, witty dialogues, great performances and a super background score! It's No.3 in my list and AAVESHAM is, surprisingly!, No.2. Why? Because the top slot for me is BRAMAYUGAM - a masterclass in movie making. It's right up there in the best of WORLD CINEMA list. A must-watch in theatre, it's a movie that made me marvel at how you don't need a huge budget to make a world-class film. It's a movie meant for connoisseurs. That said, I'm sure there will be many Mallu haters, AAVESHAM-haters in particular, who would want to pounce on my comment and post their hatred. All I can tell them is, "Let it out, guys. Have a field day. I promise not to respond." Ciao!

Dear Jammy, It’s my 5th year following you earnestly. While I always saw “movie reviewers” to be old snooty & would just simply write off movies based on their own preferences, here comes a young guy, who watches movies like a sincere student with his completely unbiased way would just watch every movie for the sheer way of a movie to be watched. So much sincerity, passion & pure love you would have with every cinema you’d watch. I could so relate to every single movie review. It always felt like a dear friend watching the movie & sitting on a couch with me to tell it how it was. No jingoism, no overacting, no hype, no extra music or visuals in the video. The one & only reviewer who’d do this. Of course a lot of young reviewers came after you but none like you. Never abused anybody, used filthy language, you were so pure hearted that I went on to write in many comments that you should be my soulmate! I would always share your videos in families, friends & other groups. More your reach grew, your first celebrity interview, when you interviewed Hollywood celebrities, it felt like my own win! I would scream with happiness & show it to my partner. I felt like saluting you when you changed your channel from Bollywood to Indian cinema reviews & find hidden gems & show it to entire India! I’m one of your followers with so much live for you from longest time. Because you were the purest in this dirty hateful world. I’m a kannadiga, I hated Martin as much as you did. In fact, I went and commented on all the trailer & songs of Martin on KZbin saying how dare they conduct such an obnoxious move. They have lost credibility for entire industry. The respect Kannada industry had earned with so much difficulty has been lost by them. Not just me, entire Kannadiga fan base literally trolled them for their move on reviewers not only from outside but they did it to many budding Kannada KZbinrs we support as well But brother, with a heavy heart I must say. It’s so totally unfair that you turned into one of those haters who in the hurry of boycotting one North Indian producer have boycotted the entire Kannada industry & Kannada fans. If UI is not one of the top 10 movies of this year, I don’t know what to say. I’m deeply deeply hurt Jammy. Goodbye

He doesn’t hate. He’s just angry with the Martin producers so he won’t review any Kannada movies. He reviews Telugu movies.

Because telugu and kannada mostly deluver high concept movies but with no logic and brainless stories that have no plot and obsessed with star power. Look at the diversity and story telling by Malayalam and Tamil and some of the movies in malayalam made in less than 20cr. Your movies are all 300cr plus but have no soul. Hope that makes sense.

Kalki 2898AD is great enough to be in list and it takes guts to make that kind of risky project itself with biggest budget movie of India.
