The silicone liner for the inside is so that the nonstick liner is not damaged, as the nonstick liner if/when damaged introduces carcinogen to the food. Of late, the uncoated steel baskets are being recommended, I have a coated one, trying out the silicone liner soon myself, for this reason.

@@ellem6050Hi. I learned a few years ago breads and other people foods can hurt birds. They shouldn’t be fed breads, fats, old bird food, nuts (meant for people), pet food, raw meat, potato chips, & honey. I used to save up old dried bread until I realized it could hurt them. I think if you’re feeding buzzards it might be ok. They must have cast iron stomachs. I’ve never heard of a buzzard needing antacid tablets 😂.

The parchment paper is great.. I use it all the time. I buy the ones that look like a big cupcake cup. It's not really for cleaning purposes. It's great for drippy stuff like cheese that you don't want dripping through the grates and getting lost. It's also great for when I wanna make a french toast so the egg doesn't stick on grate and ruin the teflon. It's wonderful for softer things like salmon too; esp if you are cooking it with a sauce, so the sauce doesn't drip down, and you can remove the salmon in one piece by simply lifting the paper.

Exactly. I use silicone baskets in my Ninja dual air fryer. They work great and the silicone baskets just go into the dishwasher. I am really cross with this woman who obviously hasn't trid the silicone baskets or mats because she says she "doesn't know what they are for" which is a pretty silly thing to say. If she's going to do stuff like this she should use everything she mentions so she can give an informed opinion.

This is the first air fryer I have ever owned. It works well kzbin.infoUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB and, if you use the proper supplied silicone tray, keeps the food separate from the oil\grease of cooking. I cooked pizza, hamburger, lasagna, etc all with good results. (I also purchased some paper inserts to cover the silicone trays, just not to have to clean the trays.) Recommended. Just make sure to REMOVE the PAPER INSERT below the air fryer tray before using the air fryer! And yes, I have experienced a bit of an "electrical"-type smell after cooking items. It seems to have gotten less with time and did surprise my nose the first time I smelled it.

The silicon sheets for cooking are handy if you reheat something in a plate that might scratch the basket. I'd say they are rather useful. The parchment paper can be used in the same way and a pack of them is less expansive and will last a long time if you use like 1 a week.

I agree that the thermometer is essential. Before owning an air fryer, pork chops always turned out so dry and not delicious. But now I take out the chops when they reach around 140-150° and they are tender, juicy and delicious. @@fabianmckenna8197 It's only worth it if you are either - living in the USA where eating raw/nearly raw meat there is very likely to end up on ER, or - wanting to have the best of the best experiences of the meat you eat. I don't have time nor willing to just sit there in the kitchen and check on the meat every 5mins if it's perfectly baked or not, so a little overbaked by a little is usually fine for me. Parchment paper in the air fryer works great!
@wickedsunrise59692 жыл бұрын
I do use the papers for things like warming up pizza or something that could crumble when you put it inside or take it out of the airfryer. They would work great for nachos too because you just lift out the whole paper and set it on your plate, then toss it when you are done. Love the papers for some things. I also use the silicone mats over the teflon grate, I do this because it is non stick and easy to clean. I love them because the grate does start to wear and you don't want to eat carcinogens and the silicone mat just keeps your food from sticking to that grate and eating things that are really not meant to eat. Also, I make homemade chicken tenders and they would stick to the bottom of that grate, you don't have to worry about it with the silicone mats. Those are the only two items I don't agree with. The rest, I totally agree!!!

I disagree on the parchment paper liners... when you air fry lots of batches of meat, that basket ends up very messy and the liners make the clean up so much easier. getting used to an air fry takes time and a bit of exprementing as all air fryers are different it can do more, much more, i even did some bakeing and air drying in mine and the results were nothing short of amazing, better than my oven and better than my top of the range convection cooker. if all you want to go for is just air frying just buy a basic model but if you want to do more go for a ninja or or a cosori. the advice here is golden but i would recomend getting a toaster rack as it does the best toast i have even tasted. and the fact that it uses half the energy is a plus in my book.

Never had a single microwave die - until this fall. The one that the builders put in Fl ally crapped out (house bought in 1999) - AND the electric stove also died last summer - same age. They just dint make anything that lasts more than 5-10 years anymore. Fingers crossed on the refrigerator!!!!!

My most used accessory for my air fryer is a metal teflon-coated cake pan which works with my airfryer (20 cm, 7,87 inch). Easy to clean (you only need butter and flour before baking, after a wet paper kitchen towel to clean the pan). My airfryer (looks the same as yours) has 1700 Watt and 20/21cm 7,8/8,2inch inside the baket. I use it for baking bread and cakes. Most of the time I use 160°C/320°F for baking bread, cakes, vegetables/potatoes or meat/chicken. For every cm/0,4inch round about 10 minutes baking time (meat/chicken maybe more time). German cheesecake, french tarte, litte pizzas/flammekuche (french pizza). French tarte (also used for german cheesecake is easy to do. You only need 200-300 gramm flour (for the tarte you use less than for the cheesecake), If you want: sugar (up to 80gramms), 150-200gramms butter, 1-3 egg yolks (the egg white you need later). Knead all (without the eggs white) together, let it rest in the fridge for 30 minutes, roll out the dough, put it in your cake pan. Fill in what you want (sweet or savory). Bake cheesecake 15 minutes then core the cake 1cm from the edge all the way around, then bake it again for 60 minutes. Tarte (sweet, with fruits): bake it for 30-40 minutes. While it bakes you whisk the egg white until fluffy (with a pinch of salt and 50-150gramms sugar). Then put the fluffy egg whites on the cake and bake it again for 10-15 minutes (until the fluffy becomes golden). Savory tarte: Leek, onion, bacon: bake it for 15-20 minutes. In this time you mix the eggs white with some salt, pepper, nutmeg spice. Put it on your cake and bake it again for 15-20 minutes (use this time for prepare a salad). I'm sorry, I'm german. Watch youtube for german cheesecake. You only need lowfat quark, sugar, eggs, food starch for the fill in. 160°C/75 minutes. Your family will love you. Good for you: easy to prepare, cheap, healthy. French families bake a tarte/cake every day before start cooking the normal meal. So the cake can bake while the family having lunch/dinner. The cake will be eaten at the end of the meal (while drinking a cup of coffea). You can also bake little cakes like brownies. It's always the same dough and topping, so you can take it to school, work, picknick...

Hi Lisa, I tend to agree with you about not needing the silicone trivets inside the air fryer since you have to clean the tray and the basket anyway. But what do you think about the silicone baskets like the WAVELU Air Fryer Silicone Pot Liner? Oil flows into the grooves, away from food and the bottom basket. It also extends the life of the tray and basket since they have a non-stick coating whose effectiveness decreases significantly over time with frequent washing. Please let everyone know what you think.

I use the powerwash on my air fryer, gas grill, pots and pans, you name it. It really breaks up the stuck on grease and crud.

Good info, but disagree re parchment paper use ! Also, the Olive Oil and Vibegar Source you provided appears to sell products from the same importer we have used for years… delicious products!! Happy to see a W Coadt source w reasonable to free shipping!! TY 😀

Are the oil sprayers made of glass or plastic question mark and where can you purchase them

I have had the Instant Pot Air Fryer for a few years and the coating is peeling off the grate. I tried one from Amazon and it was garbage. I am now worried about toxicity since that's all anyone is talking about these days. You are right. Parchment paper holds the oil so food doesn't get crispy.

Great video - as always. I have subscribed. How do you recommend cleaning the interior of the air fryer - especially the top of the interior? Sometimes foods spatter grease when cooking...

Do you by chance have a recipe book for an oven air fryer ( like a whirlpool range that has both convention and air fryer oven?)

I 100% agree with EVERYTHING you said. That includes the things you DO need & the things you don't! GREAT JOB!!

Does the Dawn cleaning fluid damage the non stick coating..? If it's that aggressive.

I love your channel! I’ll be getting all the things, lol! I think the silicone in-fryer trivets are meant to protect against the Teflon coating. If they don’t interfere with cooking, they might be worth checking out.

I decided against getting an air fryer because of the Teflon. Those silicone mats would make me more willing. I would still like an option to buy a copper ceramic basket instead. Until that's an option, I likely won't jump on the band wagon.
