One thing that works really well is to soak it in hot water and espresso machine cleaner (Cafiza or similar, it's like 15 bucks for a big bottle of powder that will last for years). It's specifically made to clean and sanitize spots you can't reach or clean physically and to be washed off without residue. It gets rid of all the grease (it's made to clean partly polymerized coffee oils) and dissolves almost anything, except plastic and metal. It's also perfect for keeping rubber seals and gaskets squishy and clean. It's a game changer for so many kitchen hygiene problems, in my opinion.

I then just pull the gasket every single time and wash in hot soapy water as normal. So far so good. It blows my mind that people don't know you can pull the gasket out each time!

There is a bit of solution. I saw on the Facebook Ninja Creami page. Right where the latch is to remove the blade is a small hole. Run hot water through this hole and will spew out the sides thru 2 smaller holes. This should be doing a better rinse of the inside is what i read
@elliotflorida3469 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for pointing this out. You missed another SERIOUS design flaw. The shaft that spins, holds the blade and moves up and down CANNOT be cleaned. It definitely has contact with the contents being mixed. And the shaft cannot possibly be properly cleaned and sanitized. There is likely mold building up inside the Creami. The inside is dark and has no air circulation, a perfect breeding ground for mold. I had a Creami and contacted Ninja TWICE about this - they never got back to me either time. On a Facebook Creami group I belonged to, someone who had opened up his Creami stated that there was mold growing inside his Creami - no surprise. I stopped using it and went with a traditional ice cream maker with a built-in freezing system. I am much happier with it. It is easier to use, faster, easy to properly clean and sanitize. Absolutely no concerns about mold! The Creami gives good results, but its numerous design flaws make it an undesirable appliance IMHO.

I have had my Ninja Creami (deluxe model) for about 8 months now and use it most every day. It never smells and is not hard to keep clean. Why is my experience so different from yours? Perhaps it is the way I use the machine. I never fill it to the max line, but usually about three quarters of the way full. The lid generally accumulates ice cream on the exposed parts but never on the inside. Usually I don't even need to remove the gasket for cleaning. Where I do get residue is immediately around the shaft at the center of the lid. I have a very small brush to remove that residue. It just takes an extra minute (I wash the assembly by hand) and I can visibly see whether I have gotten it clean (or not). I make up my own recipes so they vary from partly full to over full. When there is too much mix, I just put the extra in any old freezer suitable container and add it back in (melted) when the container is partly empty. We are a family of two and never finish a whole container at once anyway. Maybe that is my saving grace. I hope you have found a solution for your problem. The Creami is such a blessing for us.

Along with your normal cleaning routine, perhaps consider a final rinse with cool water with some freshly made chlorine dioxide (Cl02). It is a safe disinfectant (hikers use it to purify creek water). You can either buy the 2-Part solution from an outdoors store (i.e. REI or even Walmart may still stock it). It is cheaper in larger quantities online. Equal drops of Part A and Part B - swish and ready to add to water in about 30 - 40 seconds.

Imo, the worst design flaw is the blade connection itself. The blade pops off a lot. I had to replace one whole creami machine already and I have only had it since last Christmas. The new machine, blade started popping off again. I am always careful and make sure the container frozen containers flat. That makes me not want to use the creami. I’m always just waiting for it to pop off. You have to be quick with turning it off or the piston shaft thing will keep driving forward and shred metal off the fallen blade.

I noticed that issue with the lid, It actually holds water for a long time after washing since there is no air flow in that circle spring mechanism. I was thinking about drilling a small hole in the top of the lid in that area as a drain/air hole where the spring mechanism is. I haven't done it yet but I'm pretty handy and I want there to be a way for soap and water to rinse better where the shaft and blade sit and for it to dry. That is important for bacteria control.

You cleaned the o-ring but did not clean out the 3 port openings on the outer bowl lid. See my instructions below. You have to use fine brushes inserted into the 3 port openings to dislodge and residue in the outer bowl lid. Then rinse the port openings under running sink water or use a water pic to clean. Really though, the worst design flaw of this product is that the shaft retracts after your desert is finished. Although there is a seal that the shaft passes before it retracts back into the machine - bacteria will not be stopped by the seal. I provided instructions below how to clean the shaft.

So sad I was so close to buying one but this is a huge turn off. Guess I’ll wait to see if they fix it.

Try using your Water Pic Tooth cleaner down in that shaft hole, I bet that will clean it well.
