I LOVE MINE! You’ll get use to it’s size. It didn’t allow you to open because it was still under pressure. This is good size when you’re feeding a family. I actually place mine on top of my stove on a wooden board. Just to give it that steam space and so it doesn’t steam right under my cabinets. My kids use the aircrisp feature all the time and I use the pressure cooker often. Ribs come out VERY tender using the pressure cook mode , then I brush them with barbecue sauce and put it in the broiler for five minutes. 😗👌🏼

She is nothiredby Ninja and doesn't want to be, but she buys her own Ninja products, tests them and gives reviews and demos, as well as cooki g videos, which often feature one of her Foodi appliances. she does her bread a little differently than the recipe book does, and it's easier and a little quicker too

I do love the new all in one lid designs Ninja and Instant pot have put out with their last two models. And the added temperature probe option is just WOW!!! My only critic is the fact they both have the lids built onto the lower sections with a hinged opening action. Honestly prefer the removeable lids. Maybe it's a balance issue with such a bulky lid. But again LOVE the new addition of a probe to temp what you're cooking.

I too have several old style pressure cookers and air fryer and instant pots and few ninja foodi with air crisp lid and a ninja grill. My wife refused to use the instant pot but uses the ninja foodi without asking her to use it. My child uses the ninja foodi too. I like it too. My wife still prefers the old style on the hob pressure cookers of which we have several types as probably they are faster than both instant pot and ninja as the electronic ones develop less pressure than the old style on the hob ones. But I prefer the ninja grill with grill plate but it can smoke quite a bit but the results are good. For the moment I think I can do without the steam crisp and steam bake options on the new ninja. Will wait for a few of these to turn up on the second hand market as usually they are about a third of the price if you look around! Got both my ninja foodi for about £70 to 75 each. The grill max for £50. I use the ninja exclusively now. Have the ninja chopper too which is more handy than the larger capacity Vitamix. Didn't buy the 15 in 1 ninja for £100 second hand as didn't think the steam crisp and steam bake was worth the extra investment and extra device. But you never know might make the jump one day. Certainly won't be buying new as there will be enough people intimidated by this and getting rid of unwanted presents. Which is great for people like me to get this cheaper if I want the additional features. The grill option on the ninja grill is any day better than the air crisp option on the ninja foodi for meats but air crisp is fine for chicken wings etc

You poor thing yes its frightening at first use. The reason why you could not slide to open was it still had pressure inside and the built in safety would not allow you slide to open it. The black frying basket be careful in removing legs as they can break as known from previous owners of other Foodi. Tip when going to use the basket is to move the legs so you dont see them from above means less fat dripping onto them and easier cleaning. Enjoy your new toy as i will stick to the older ones for my use . Great video and wake up to the sound of released steam and have no pets near.

I just started watching your channel because I’m considering buying an Instant Pot Duo Nova and wanted to get a good idea of what I might actually cook in it. I also came across this Ninja device but from all the negative reviews, I decided against it. Specifically, my concern was how to keep the heating element clean on the lid. It’s not removable and cooks with all your food in the pressure cooker, and it looks impossible to get that properly clean. So I’m going to go with the 8L Instant Pot instead (my husband and I have 4 kids so it make sense to cook in bulk) Still interested to see your take on this though as I figure I’ll start with the Instant Pot and if I really want to test this I can always buy it later.

I haven't read a single bad review that is based on grounded arguments. About cleaning the heating element, just run one of the steaming functions to dislodge any food remainings and with a clean cloth remove them after it cools down.

Two years ago my husband got me the latest 8 qt foodi. It was so intimidating that I didn't want to try it. I think the first thing I did was boiled eggs. I didn't screw it up, so I slowly tried other foods. We ended up buying the racks for dehydrating. Ours has two lids. One for pressure cooking and the other is attached to the machine. The only gripe I have is that it's very large in our tiny galley kitchen, and the slow cooker isn't great. We kept my crockpot to use I stead.

I have one of the early Ninja blenders and was happy with it. Then I bought a Ninja 4-in-1 Cooker and although it was a good idea, the design was bad. The steam escapes around the lid really bad and it didn't brown evenly. I decided I was done with Ninja products. Now they just come out with all kinds of expensive appliances. Today QVC had their "ice cream maker" which didn't really make ice cream. You mix it yourself and freeze it in their container overnight and then use it to "creamerize" (didn't think that was a word) and add mix-ins. I'm happy with my Instant Pots and stand-alone air fryer. Those hot air fry lids scare me.

@@feefee2 There are two functions that I would not trade for anything else which are only available (at this moment) on the Ninja Foodi Multilid. These the are Steam&Crisp and Steam&Bake. I have never achieved better results baking bread or cakes than with these two functions. Also, with the Steam&Crisp I'd been able to cook a three course meal (pasta or grains plus vegetables plus protein) in just 10 to 15 minutes perfectly. It feels like this machine really does what its supposed to do easy and almost perfectly. Also, the Ninja OL701comes with a temperature probe that lets you cook based on temperature instead of time. This is particularly useful if you want to cook proteins to specific doneness without using an external thermometer (which is impossible when pressure cooking). No Instant Pot does this. Neither does the Instant Pot allows for an automatic delayed pressure release which is required with some recipes.

I already have an IP and a Ninja Foodi air fryer/toaster oven (the flip up style so its space saving) so I don't think I'd take the plunge but I"m intrigued. Usually multifunction machines do one thing well and the others just ok or meh, but if this bad boy did them all better than ok... I might reconsider just to have more counter space. I'm not a huge fan of my Foodi because it doesn't have a basket like other air fryers, it has a metal mesh tray which is a PITA to clean well and the holes are so big lots of crumbs fall through to the baking sheet below so you have 2 things to clean or need to foil like the bottom piece every time. Most of the time my 6qt IP does what I need it to do but every once in awhile I wish I had the 8qt. Man, you really got me thinking. Yes please, more videos to see what this can do. Just for POV, I'm almost 70 years old and LOVED this video! BTW my InstantPot 8QT Duo Crisp box was 22" wide 18" tall and 15" wide so this unit looks like it's about the same size? I don't recall if you said how many quarts it is? All I know is due to my kitchen if my lid were permanently attached like this one on the Ninja it would kill the sale right there. I have no room to open it. And I moan about my InstantPot being heavy already so that's a second reason I would never buy this Ninja. (I'm going to be shipping this to my daughter soon and getting a smaller pot.) I don't use the air fryer separate lid on my InstantPot Duo Crisp due to it's too heavy too. So I bought a separate air fryer lol. Anyway I also use my InstantPot Duo Crisp a LOT for the Sous Vide cooking. Probably more than anything else. It has a temp setting that it holds the food to so you would think they could add that to the digital part of it for the other cooking so you don't need to have a separate thermometer?? I just love InstantPot's removable lid which is the final deal killer for Ninja cookers ... I park it in my dish drainer when I'm done cooking. (You could also park it in the dishwasher while it cools off)

So I'm in the market for a new pressure cooker. My old IP just keeps glitching all the time and giving me the "Burn Error" message. I am not too worried about the price. I've got my selection narrowed down between the Instant Pot Pro Plus WiFi ($199) and this Ninja Foodi Smart XL OL701 (Currently $349 on Ninja's website with a 20% off coupon making it $280). I like both machines so the choice is difficult. Because the Ninja has the non-stick inner pot I probably wouldn't have to worry about receiving a "Burn Error" message. 90% of the time I will be using the machine to pressure cook so I could save myself $80 and go with the Instant Pot Pro Plus WiFi but I'm worried that I will keep getting the "Burn Error" message as it has a stainless steel inner pot. Since the Ninja has the Air Fryer and Steam & Crisp, I probably would give it a go and use it but what is your opinion? Which machine would you go with? Thanks.

Box was prestine, not repackaged. Everything inside was wrapped and all packing materials were in place. Unit works fine. There were two machines on the self both marked for clearance. I just happened to be at the right place at the right time.

OMG! It looks as big as a carpet cleaner., and a robot. Danger Will Robinson! I def don't have room for a huge machine, and don't like the lid opening up instead of coming off. Temp probe isn't necessary, and the slider thing to open an close looks like cheap plastic. I have a 6qt IP Duo Plus 9-in-1 which is simple to use, and enough for me. Plus, the lid comes off.

Proof that large easy to read labels still don't help some people.

Thanks so much for your coverage of the Ninja, I have both the Instant Pot Air Fryer together with the Instant Pot Duo "7 in 1", which together cost £142, so I totally agree, not worth the extra for the Ninja. Ok so both Air Fryer and the Duo take up more horizontal space, but I'm totally fine with them not being housed in the same ginormous 8 quart monster Ninja, lol. Thanks so much for all your vids., especially loved your Instant Pot recipes and review of the accessories, please keep up the good work. Liked and subscribed!

Aha, first impressions, heating elements inside a water based pressure cooker, is super dodgy, but it has got to have intelligent switches to disconnect the heating elements from the power source so it does not blow your fuse box. Thanks for your suggestion, will be in touch 👌 PS. Love the Ninja's auto quick release, just wish the Instant Pot could auto switch off after a chosen Lxxx Time, I put that on my review on Amazon, lol

Tip don't put it under your kitchen cabinet. The steam ruined your cabinet

I bought the top model I seen all the things it was capable of doing pictures and stuff lovely food , unfortunately I’m a bloke and can’t really cook I foolishly thought it would do it all for me , well not exactly all I’m not that stupid but nether the less it’s far to complicated for me , and I am not big on patience reading up on cooking, suppose it’s brilliant if you know how to cook and use this thing
