The skin of the roast duck is eaten with sugar, and the roast duck meat is eaten with sauce 😊

Let me put it this way, watching you eat Peking duck is like Americans watching others eat the bread, vegetables and meat separately when eating hamburgers, or eating pizza separately from the toppings. But the restaurant is also responsible, because it didn't have a waiter to teach you how to eat Peking duck.

Dear friends, we've immensely enjoyed your videos, especially those from China. However, we've observed that you have inadvertently made a lot of mistakes and some may be quite offensive without your awareness. It would be greatly beneficial for you to make some local friends in China, East Asia, and Southeast Asia who can introduce you to the food, culture, and more. You don't appear to be shy or too introverted nor do you hate Chinese? Making more friends would help you a lot and make your travel more fun:D. You can still explore independently on your own without feeling restricted and seek assistance from your friends when needed. Many foreigners who befriend locals find their travels in China much more interesting and exciting. They find their experiences in China much more enriching! The Chinese people are very kind, friendly, generous, cool and chill, and always eager to help people who visit their country. Don't worry, nobody is interested in fleecing you. In fact, the opposite is true; many would love to give you a treat. Since you don't speak Mandarin, you might miss important cultural nuances, such as aspects of service, food, shopping, etc. Even just having some local acquaintances can greatly enhance your travel experience. Merry Christmas and a Happy And Prosperous New Year! 😘😍🥰 🎄 🎄 🎄 🎄 🎄 🎄 🎄 🎄 😄😃😀

You are supposed to dip the duck meat in the sauce and put it in a role, with other stuff. The sauce is to neutralize the oily taste of the meat, and to give it flavors. Otherwise the meat itself is blend
Please respect the food. Learn how to eat the dish.

To tell how good the Peking duck is by how crispy the skin is. Premium orders will use the meat for stir fry or fried rice. The bones for soup of congee. It uses the entire duck. I know you guys don't like to google beforehand but I find that you missed out on the meaning of each food, the meaning, and the culture. You guys travel to many places, BUT do you understand the country?

I, a Beijing native, had never heard of this small restaurant, only because it may have advertised it on Google. Not every restaurant in Beijing will do Beijing roast duck, especially the roast duck roll sold by the roadside do not eat, really delicious roast duck only those few chain restaurants do taste good, see a friend reply to say that "four seasons Minfu" "cheap square" "Quanjude" "Liqun Roast duck" (personal preference ranking) these are old brands, There are also local Beijing restaurants like the one in the video but the quality may be mediocre.
Your comment seems very judgmental of two young guys traveling around the world while you sit at your computer watching them. Maybe we should give them the benefit of the doubt, even though we don't know their culture, instead of making fun of them.

Like your videos, but our ancestors told us to respect food or it will bring bad luck. Chinese people continue to use chopsticks on the table not because they are backward, but because our ancestors gave up the habit of eating with knives and forks thousands of years ago (modern style knives and forks can be found in the tombs unearthed in BC in China) because they think knives and forks are very similar to weapons and it is impolite to use them in front of guests. And metal tools make it easy to cool food and it's rude to handle food with your hands, so thousands of years ago they started to elaborate and detail when making food at the same time they invented bamboo and wooden chopsticks, and different foods not only have different ways of cooking but different ways of eating them. We have a lot of faith in the experience of our ancestors to help us and so we hold on.😊

In Chinese food , if you think a dish is greasy, you must be missing the side dish on the table to help you reduce the fat, such as sugar and cucumber。The duck skin needs to be dipped in sugar Just like the burger restaurant will not teach you how to eat a burger, the waiter does not think it is polite to teach the customer how to eat, so you can ask the waiter if you do not understand, there is never an extra charge for this.

That’s right. I normally don’t mind their jokes and find them quite funny. But it’s not just the way they’re eating the duck (which the waiter didn’t show them the proper way to do it) that is doing wrong here, it’s their attitude and disrespect to the meal that makes me not liking it.

Nobody also offered to teach them as the people are also not that friendly or chatty to foreigners. This could easily be the other way round if a Chinese or Asian visiting the US for the first time. Use dianping to find good restaurants in China. Not Google.
@KWExploretheworld10 күн бұрын
Don’t know who’s rating these restaurants in Google but that’s definitely not the one to go to. People use “Dianping”, “Meituan” and “Xiaohongshu” apps to search for restaurants in China. I know a lot of Peking Duck restaurants in Beijing but have never heard of that restaurant you went to. Not to mention the poor service, even the cutting does not seem good. Half of the art of Peking Duck comes from the taste but the other half comes from the cutting which will change its texture. But the way you ate that also kind of ruined the food and the whole experience; and that does not do any justice to this famous dish. You’re not supposed to eat the skin just by itself; you should either dip it in sugar or put it in the wrap with some other meat to balance the oil out. Don’t know if this has anything to do with the restaurant cuz good restaurants serve very thin skin and will get rid of the fat under the skin. And you’re supposed to dip the meat into more plum/sweet bean sauce than you did before wrapping them up.
