Trifecta of traffic violations

No drivers license, no plate, no registration… but a valid CPC?
This was an unusual encounter for MMDA enforcers, during a clearing operation.
Pity any driver, pedestrian or passenger involved in an accident with this tricycle.
Based on similar encounters in the past, the most you’re likely to get for your injuries or damages, is a scratch of the head.
That's why it's important to impound the tricycle BEFORE an innocent person can be negatively affected.
* The driver said the tricycle was last registered in 2017 - and he showed a registration document which seemed to confirm his claim.

In that area along sauyo and novaliches, roads and non-parking zones are occupied by motorcycles, private, jeepneys, e-v's that causes traffic and lots of riders don't follow standard safety gears. Glad that you guys operated again in that same area.

Good Job @Gadgetaddict! Normally we only see the other side of the story. But having watched your videos and seeing how most Filipino motorist flagrantly violates the traffic rules makes it evident that the primary issue of traffic in the Philippines is the lack of discipline. I hope the SC lifts the Non Contact Apprehension policy so it can be implemented by MMDA. I believe this will help catch traffic rule violators without a traffic enforcer dealing with them (hence avoid corruption)

5:32 Agreed. Motorcycle drivers fail to realize that vision is limited when driving automobiles, especially the bigger ones. Motorcycle is at the side? Automobile drivers will give it a wide berth. About half a lane's worth if possible.

There's no voice overs. Everything is recorded there on the road. But generally violators don't hear me say it. With the crop and zoom of the camera, I'm actually standing a little far away. And my voice sounds louder because I'm talking directly into my microphone.

I understand enforcement especially when we travel to Manila from the West. It seems like a bit of a wild west to us, but the other side of the coin is these tricycle drivers make a 400-600 pesos a day maybe. As an example shown in the past, I can understand why you will see underage drivers step in for their dads if they can't work....No work, no food. They will roll the dice and hope they don't get caught.

Yeah its kind of sad, i like Philippines, people are nice and so on. But Manila is the most dense city in the world. So not enough parking, low wages and kids have to work too. For the parking ticket to us its not much. But for them its a lot. So sad in both ways

The average daily salary of an enforcer Is P500 I know some enforcers that drive a tricycle after their regular shift. According to them, they can earn P1000 in an evening. Of course it's highly dependent on the route, time of day and how many hours you work. But the point is, a lot of people really underestimate how much some jobs can offer, especially compared.to what many government salaries offer. For example some enforcers would operate as legal motorcycle taxis, outside of their shift, and they generally say they can earn P500 in a few hours. That's the equivalent of their whole day earnings as an enforcer. I'm not saying people aren't struggling, for sure there's a lot of people struggling. But there's a lot of people who experience the same hardships but they still do their best to obey the law. Look at the habals on EDSA. They'll often say they're working for coins. But actually many are taking home P2000 - P3000 in a day. Of course that's partly due to the way they overcharge and abuse commuters. Those are commuters that should have gone to LEGAL motorcycle taxi riders. Instead, they were taken by the illegals.

Most of the Tricycles will overcharge me at first...Until they get the idea that I know the rates before asking how much. I didn't know they made that much in a evening...I assumed it was on par with Minimum wage.

I won't be surprised if they already gave a "warning" to the parents and children. It's very rare that those "warnings" are listened to. It's not until someone gets hurt or killed, either the kid, or the innocent person they hit, that people finally take it seriously.

It does not seem that the fines are a enough of a deterrent. In my opinion I think that the fines should be increased and doubled for repeat offenders. ex. 1000 would double to 2000 and on a third offense the 2000 would double to 4000 and so on. Fines would not be anti-poor but instead pro-safety. If they're going to be on the driving on the road, they should be aware of the laws and not pretend that did not know. Also, from seeing many pleading their cases and ultimately not winning, enforcers should start the conversation with law breakers with "You broke the law and you're not going to win this argument." Just my opinion.
