I was quite surprised to hear chef is 4th on the list. Considering the danger of injury, I can agree with that. I have been a chef in London for 7 years or so now. I have had close encounters with A&E. Probably this would of been better as an email to Pflax since I have pictures. Apart from the daily burns, which are just normal day to day things, I have had the side of my left index finger chopped off during a super busy production service. I know this might sound insane, but I learned to bite off or cut the left over skin from the cut so it doesn't leave a permanent ugly scar. Yes, my finger isn't semitrical anymore nor can I feel the nerves, but at least it's not a lump on the side of it. I also had a scary slip up where a Japanese sashimi knife slipped from it's course with force and landed on the large vain just on the top of my left forearm. You can guess what happened. Cut it in half, blood started squirting out. By the time I got to A&E my t-shirt which I wrapped around my arm was dripping with blood. These are severe accidents, but they are super rare. I still love my job, and also that median the average. I'm a senior CDP and I make well over £45k annually. But I also work as a private chef. If you dedicate your passion into it, it's actually an amazing job and best of all, it's extremely hard to be out of a job all over the world, not just the UK.

Rare SEGA Game Gear mention. My dad worked with a German (west side) fella named Jürgen who my family visited one time back in the early to mid 90s, probably 93, and they were kind enough to give my brother and I a Game Gear. Bloody hell, the amount of AC adapters my parents had to go through, it was a real cursed monkey paw situation. It was too ahead of its time at a price point too high and poor battery life, but with a colour LCD screen and expansion opportunities like a TV tuner. You can find videos on YT of people using that to connect to modern streaming services lol.

Lewis' question is very valid, workplace injury reports are 90% the most mundane, tiny things. Now OBVIOUSLY fire fighters go through horrible injuries but yes, a good % of thise injuries while be small burns, cuts and scrapes.

I kept smashing the glass versions, so I finally just gave up and bought 2 identical thermos and a metal mesh filter that fits a funnel meant to sit on top of a coffee pot. Brew in one thermos, filter into the other. Practically the same as a french press and easier to clean. Also, only need to descale the kettle, but that's an advantage of the french press too.

Console prices are what they are because that's what they think most people are willing to pay. They found out back in 2006 when Sony tried to charge $600-700 for a PS3 that most people weren't willing to pay that much so the consoles after that all launched at $400-500.

@@RedSntDK Yeh, but you have to remember when being cold was a problem when those houses were built, energy was about 0.005p per kwh so we just burned more shit to keep warm. Now, the building regs on new builds require I think 600mm of insulation. The other problem ofc is poor retrofitting of of insulation in older buildings which ends up causing rot and damp - man I could go on for hours about this lol ;)

Inflation has no relation to the price of fucking anything flax
@LemonCamel4 ай бұрын
Also, what does flax mean that they aren't making consoles more cheaply because they cost relatively the same? Does he seriously think they'd say no to profits?
@jamescarroll3844 ай бұрын
@@LemonCamel I'm pretty sure consoles themselves make almost nothing for Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft etc. The cost of the tech going into it is too expensive. The profit comes from locking people into your ecosystem so they buy games for your console (including both exclusives and multiplatform titles), especially buying them on your digital storefront along with dlcs and microtransactions, and subscribe to your premium services (PS+, Gamepass, etc).
@LemonCamel4 ай бұрын
@@jamescarroll384 part of it, sure. But inflation is just an average of some indexed items. It has almost nothing to do with the price of shit. I just looked up the price to make a ps5 for example, and the only numbers I could find were spurious or from teardown vids. Nobody knows how much they cost to produce, and a teardown video doesn't mean shit. Can't know how much Sony buys their bulk parts for. "Oh based on the teardown it'd be about $400" isn't useful unless you know the total price of components
