It's gotta be said, the chapter numeration is an integral part of Bodega so here's some pointers for proper pronunciation (considering how well you did from 1-10 just keep your previous wording): 16 diesiseis = d-s-e-seis 17 dieisiete = d-s-e-siete 18 diesiocho = d-s-e-ocho 19 diesinueve = d-s-e-nueve 20 veinte = vain-teh 21 veintiuno = vain-t-uno 22 veintidos = vain-t-dos 23 veintitres = vain-t-tres So on and so forth. I'll update when you're getting closer to 30. Cheers guys, always looking forward to Wednesday Triforce!

Wanted to comment on the space travel bit they talked about at the start so time to geek out a little about this so yeah. They are talking about travelling 39 light years to get to those potentially habitable planets but that would take about 780,000 years to get there on the fastest spaceship/probe we have ever built (New Horizons Space Probe) which travels at mach 47 or 36,373 mph. There are of course theoretical methods for getting there that may work but they have not even reached physical concept designs yet but they are things like crafts propelled by lasers and solar sails that might take about 5-20 dependant on the amount of radiation and light that you can sail with. Long story short however it may never be possible to go these sorts of distances in the time it takes us at the moment.

You're right, Lewis, there's so much room on Earth we'd never need another planet for at least another couple hundred years, if we were to use all space available. HOWEVER. The Earth's dying. We as humans need to look for new planets because of this, and hope that we've learned a few things to keep the new planet safe and healthy.

The point lewis makes about basing future projections on our current technology was dead on, you don't even have to go back 500 years. Even up until the 80's our science fiction never really pushed forward the idea of the internet as it is today. Back to the future still had people reading newspapers to get their information while driving their flying cars. As far as I know the amazing amount of information we can pull out of thin air with a tiny personal device was never really seen coming.

Reaching the 7 recently discovered planets would be so vastly expensive and it is currently generations away from being technologically possible (if ever). Voyager 1 launched in 1977 taking advantage of a special alignment in the planets causing it to zip out of solar system at great speed..... in 40,000 years it will still be 1.6 lightyears from the nearest star in that direction.

Werty Line Also, all we know about those planets is that 3 of them are in the habitable zone, so could have liquid water on their surface. However, because the star is a red dwarf, the planets are closer, but this means that the planets may orbit more slowly to a point that half of the planet will be facing the star all the time, similar to the moon. This means the only part of the planet actually habitable would be the horizon, living in a constant dusk.

"We might not need to colonise anyway" And there's the Lewis that I hate to balance the times he is entertaining. I'm not sure why he *always* goes for the contrarian view point but colonisation is going to be critical for the continued survival for our species. We need to use this homeworld entirely, strip mine it if we have to, in order to expand to multiple planets. Once that planet starts producing on it's own and expand it's industry our race will suddenly be capable of so much more. His contrarian view where we need to "fix our own problems here first" is a pet peeve of mine. Not only can we do *both* anyway, but the realist view point is that 6 billion of us are expendable in the face of colonisation. We don't need to fix our problems here until we have the time to waste turning Earth into a garden at the core of an interstellar society.

I don't think Flax has any concept of how far 39 light years is, or how unrealistic traveling any significant fraction of the speed of light is. The fastest moving man made object ever (relative to the Sun) is the Juno probe, which is moving at about 70 km/s. Even if we could get a manned ship moving that fast in the right direction (which realistically, we probably couldn't because a manned ship would have to be MUCH more massive than Juno, and the only way we even got Juno going so fast was with a bunch of fortunate gravity assists, which may or may not be possible heading towards TRAPPIST-1)... Even if we could manage that, it would still take somewhere in the ballpark of 200,000 years. Humans as we are today appear to have evolved some 70,000 years ago, so it would take 2+ times longer than we have existed as a species to get there. Sure, on the cosmic scale 39 light years is essentially nothing, but on the human scale, its impossibly far.

I think Lewis is wrong on the limit on human innovation. Everyone thought we'd invented everything in the Renaissance era. But we always keep innovating. We take the learning of our forefathers and build on it, and we can only go higher. I don't think there's a limit- we've blown away our own expectations before. I think that, relatively soon- perhaps in the next upcoming centuries, mankind will have another "20th Century" explosion of invention. From horse and buggies to faster than sound travel and several men on the moon- with Mars next on the list. It's only a matter of time before someone somewhere makes a breakthrough. We may not live to see it, but when I die I'll believe that humanity has not stagnated- it has not even reached it's peak yet.

39 lightyears is 39 years, at the speed of light. Unless we were able to find out how to warp the fabric of space (not ftl) it would take centuries if not millennia to reach it with our tech. Even if we were to advance our tech by 50 or 100 years.
