I recognize I'm not a very casual listener, as I spend most of the time I'm listening to music fully focused on what I'm hearing, often reading the lyrics as well. This comes from struggling with comprehending rap back in the day, which grew into an engrossing love of the genre I can't escape anymore. I've listened to most of Swifts "must know" production, and when they were released very much enjoyed "Folklore" and "Evermore". However, after listening to both on/off for a few months, I realized most of her work is as wide as the ocean and as deep as a puddle. There's so MUCH of the damn stuff, and almost none of it stands to the test of re-listening to the albums a few times over a period of say, 6 months. The songwriting is catchy and makes you bob your head on the first listen, kudos to her on that, but trying to stick with her music for longer isn't a rewarding experience. Unfortunately she is a mediocre lyricist at best, as well, which kind of soured me on a lot of her songs in the first place. Liking her music is completely cool though, not everyone has to be the stuck-up snob I am, the world would be boring that way. I still enjoy hearing songs off Evermore every now and then. Lewis is spot on about the cult of swifties though, the cultural phenomenon of celebrity adoration needs to die out and fast...

Cassowaries are confined to a tiny rainforested area way up in the northern most reaches of the state of Queensland. It is an extreme priveledge to see one. My parents had to fly 1000s of km from Melb to Port Douglas have the honor of randomly spotting one. They are weird, wonderful and rare to 99% of Australians. I've never seen one. Maybe at a zoo but I can't remember? And spiders? Meh. The most dangerous I can encounter is easily is the Red Back Spider, the Aussie member of the widow family, species of which can be found in many parts of Europe, North America and more. The Aussie species is no more dangerous than any species worldwide. The two medically significant species the Mouse Spiders and Funnel Webs are ones you have to literally go looking for to find. I've never seen one outside a museum and I live near a national park. They have specific environmental requirments and can't survive in houses. And what of the Huntsman Spiders? Most of the ones that people encounter in Aussie homes are no bigger than a the Giant House Spider you have in the UK. And they are just as dangerous as the UK Giant House Spider, ie. not at all dangerous. Huntsmans are bros. Basically the only reason places like the UK barely encounter ANY wildlife is because you destroyed your ecology and biodiversity 1000s of years ago. You are used to living in a place desolated by human habitation. I am constantly shocked by the lack of trees and vegetation in the UK. Also careful Pyrion. Talking about Australia being a place never meant for human habitation is a bit gross, considering Australia was first inhabited by humans 65,000 to 40,000 years ago. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders might want to have a word with you, since they've lived and thrived here that long yanno? The Brits literally declared Australia Terra Nullis (nobody's land) to justify their takeover here. You sound like them, just saying... And I think a lot of Brits would like Tasmania. Its got the rural farmland and small town vibes. Kinda like a sister place to New Zealand. Actually it feels closer to New Zealand than the Australian mainland.

I feel like the whiplash of Pyrion growing up in Canada and being terrified of visiting Australia is hilarious, which I'm glad Sips prodded a little. He did explain a bit, staying far from nature as he could. Although as a Canadian from the west coast I've not only seen a bear about 20 feet from me casually walking along a road with her cubs, but I've been the same distance from a cougar stalking a housecat near my friend's old trailer home. Most of Canada is as near-uninhabitable as Australia. At least you wouldn't freeze your testes off in Aussieland, I'd move to Melbourne in a heartbeat.

That and Australia is even more centrally urbanised then Canada, with a massive proportion of the population living in 5 cities of between 1.5 and 5 million people, with the rest of Australia's cities (excepting Canberra) getting no larger than a couple hundred thousand. I suspect there is more intersection between people and wildlife in Canada than here!
@rareoddish
@rareoddish 7 ай бұрын
@@FreshlyBakedLePain Tbf about half of the population of Canada lives in the Windsor-Quebec City Corridor, which includes where Sips is from (near Ottawa) and I believe where Pyrion used to live. I don't imagine they saw anything much bigger than raccoons in their day-to-day life there, whereas I live on Vancouver Island on the west coast which is mostly undeveloped forest and mountain. It's usually very wet forest, it gets dark and cold for around half the year, and we have the highest cougar population in North America. I'm arachnophobic, but like I said, I'd move to Australia in a heartbeat haha

Either that guy is lying or he just doesn't know, but that description of how he signs to his mates in a loud warehouse that he needs the loo, is an actual sign language gesture people already use. It's especially often used to teach babies/toddlers to communicate they need the bathroom or are going to the bathroom. It was even in one of the movies about the Fockers. Maybe Meet the Fockers.

Hi, I’m that guy, had no idea it was real sign language. The way my mates explained it made it sound like it was their idea. That place stole 2 years of my life and my sanity at the time, makes sense they’d steal that too.

4:55 , ive never once heard a woman or anyone of any gender say they prefer a man with lighter hair. I personally like my light blonde long hair. But ive only ever heard it as a negative, unappealing trait, that people generally rather have a partner with dark hair. Is there anyone all at with a reason to not just darken my hair to not just be looked over in favor of darker hair people.

For clarification, I wrote that email mentioning my own personal preferences, but I say you do you! There are gonna be different strokes for different folks. I'm sure there are women, as one of the other commenters in this very comment section pointed out, who like our light haired gents. I think confidence, good hygiene and social skills, and a sense of humor goes a longer way with women than just the hair color.

Sydney is great but Melbourne has a bit of a grudge against them (Melbourne used to be one of the richest cities on earth, and was the de facto capital of Australia for while Canberra was being built for about a decade, but was eclipsed by Sydney for a while. Melbourne has caught up population wise again though). The biggest minus for Sydney is that it is the capital of Pentecostalism (insane Christian cult) in Australia so they have a lot of influence over policy there. It's also the capital of pokie machines which are a social cancer. Melbourne is a much less spectacular and beautiful city, so not as good for tourists, but its probably nicer to live in on average in terms of quality of life. Better public transport, the best sports scene in Australia, the major arts and fashion capital, the best university by lots of rankings. Except that our dickhead premier put us through the longest lockdown in the world during Covid and that has sucked a lot of life out of the city and racked up a massive debt. I like both on balance. Also to Pyrion's points, Melbourne and the land around it is basically the same sort of climate as central Italy maybe. Sydney is a bit warmer. All Australia's capital cities are in temperate climates similar to southern Europe other than Brisbane, which is still only subtropical. Also, Australian wildlife kills virtually no one. There's 25 million people here and maybe 15 people get killed by wildlife annually, out of about the 200k who die each year.
