In this weeks video, I am showing a continued lesson from last week. In this lesson, the subject is actively charging at the officer with fists clinched and in a striking manner. I am teaching how to measure the safe distance between the officer and the subject, and how to safely clinch, takedown, and control the subject.
Every friday morning from 9am-10am, I am offering a free Self Defense class for all law enforcement officers. It is FREE! Only for certified officers, and also emergency personnel.

Please help support my Patreon Channel so that it can be easier for me to create more of these videos, as this is very time consuming and can get expensive with video editing software, and equipment. I want to be able to create many more educational videos on my Street Combatives Self Defense, as well as my Sport Jiujitsu techniques, and any social media video where police are involved. Thank you

That's the only thing that i don't really enjoy about bjj, its so competition based. Sweeping for points etc. Id much rather work on self defense techniques like these

I was a Black Belt Tae Kwon Do instructor for many years before MMA was even born. The challenge I see with the feigned front kick in Jujitsu is that the suspect can grab your leg very easily and throw you off balance. Why not do a proper front kick with force and then enter into the Ju Jitsu combative moves? One nicely placed front kick to to the liver, groin or abdomen will take the suspect down. I trained in the 1970's with the Korean Masters when you got beaten pretty bad. It is not like today with points and protective gear. I realize the gear we carried makes it difficult to kick. I never faced a suspect straight on. I always stood to the side opposite from my gun and kept enough distance to react. I wish Jujitsu were available years ago. Years ago when in the academy, our arrest and control course was very inadequate. It would seem to be proficient in Jujitsu would take at least a year of regular training. This young generation is all into MMA. This makes it difficult for officers unless well trained and conditioned. This is why two officers should always go to any call. If you have a partner long enough, you know what he is thinking. Please, female officers if you are smaller, get combative jujitsu training or you will end up having to shoot the suspect so he does not overpower you and take your gun. Always wait for back up. It's like if you find one gun on a suspect, there are often two guns he is holding. Check them good. If you are overweight and out of condition, it is dangerous. Also Jujitsu looks much better from the view of the public. Just don't take a little 18 year old girl out of her car and body slam her as we recently saw on the viral KZbin video. Thank you Jujitsu Instructors for caring about those in blue. As Jesus said "No greater deed is there than to lay your life down for a friend". Well, Law enforcement lays their lives down for strangers. God Bless you all. SR SE HPD Retired

People can argue about technique and whatnot, but I think the biggest thing that will help police is gaining that aerobic capacity and exercising all the little muscles, nobody lifts weights for, when rolling. Hopefully you can get them to at least come once a week. The officers in my area are often winded just walking from their cars. They are overweight and have to rely on their firearms for any advantage. This leaves them vulnerable in many circumstances.

The sad reality is that the only thing most cops exercise is their eating. Cops are notoriously lazy when it comes to fitness and eating correctly. 😕

@@Blackbeltcop I'm sure some of that has to do with the stress they deal with. Sadly, an unhealthy body makes their anxiety, depression, etc worse.

I am asking this with all due respect. Is such an elevated side kick a little high risk? Also I am of the opinion that if it doesn't work against a trained fighter, than it doesn't work at all. To tell the man drilling with the young woman "don't come at her like a UFC fighter" robs those students of being able to have than edge or perhaps that next level of truly effective BJJ.
@Blackbeltcop
@Blackbeltcop 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew, I agree with the student coming at her like a UFC fighter, he actually does do some MMA training. The side kick is aimed generally at the waist area and or knee. There are a multitude of ways you can do this. The technique works 100% even against a trained fighter. It takes time to build timing and efficient movement with a technique. Thank You for watching!

If you know how to kick well it's safe. If you're slow or something it can be grabbed. You see Sidekicks in UFC now
@Blackbeltcop
@Blackbeltcop 5 жыл бұрын
@@taekwondobro of course that applies to anything really, but UFC isn't a good comparison and here is why. In the UFC, you have two elite well trained professional fighters. The techniques that I am teaching are mostly meant to be used in a street fight "hopefully against a NON trained attacker" which is 99.9% of the average street person.

This type of situational training would only be useful if they do it consistently, like multiple times per week for a few years. Training a little bit only builds false confidence and could get them killed. MMA is only a cohesive self defense method when you develop a well rounded game which takes a lot of time

MMA fighters train 6 hours a day, they have a nutritionist and several coaches. This training is unrealistic. Also, MMA fighters don't have to worry about knives deployed in the middle of a match.

I will say this in a very respectful way, I am a 7th degree master instructor in Tae KwonDo, I have always taught law enforcement the first strike is neutralizing the threat. You are going to get someone hurt.

Freddy Trillo as both a special agent and a martial artist, I agree with your teaching style. I believe BJJ is the best way for cops to defend themselves because not only is it highly effective, it isn’t meant to cause permanent harm, unlike some of the striking martial arts. In any event, you just got to know when a suspect needs medical help so you don’t end up with a Michael Garner situation, which was horrible but probably avoidable.
