2 cups split peas soaked for 3 hours
2 cups oil for frying
6 leaves bandania aka culantro
4 cloves garlic sliced
3 hot peppers scotch bonnet / habenero - optional
3 bird peppers - optional
1 tsp cayanne powder
2 tsp paprika
salt to taste

I feel so blessed that you're not a selfish person to keep recipes to yourself. I've asked so many people to show me or tell me I've been met with " it easy man, do so and so," such a befitting reply I tell you. I'm a roti pro, a divali sweets pro and what I've learned most of all is to take my time feel the food slow down and it'll get done right. Thought I'd let you know you're a blessing to many of us who desire learning about making great Caribbean Trini dishes.

Oh my. Word I tried this recipe and it came out really good. Always wanted to learn to do this. The best part is that I get to control the amount of salt and pepper bbn that goes into it. Love it. Came out really nice . Will be making this more often especially around the holidays where they get so expensive.good gift ideas also.

Thanks for sharing this recipe. I came on your channel to see if I remembered doing fried split peas like my mom used to do, because I know your channel's reputation for great recipes. My mom is 89 years now and was a boss at it in her day.

Saw this Morning and just finished eating along with my nephews. Though I didn’t make it spicy because of the children. It was amazing!! Next time I’ll make it spicy. I love a little spice.

It is called culantro or recao in America. Similar in flavor to cilantro .

True true...unfortunately I have brittle teeth and as being a senior it is even taking a chance at my teeth breaking. I have to eat soft foods only...steups 😢
