2 1/2 cups of All purpose flour
2 tbsp plain yogurt
1/2 tsp orange coloring or 1/4 each of red and yellow mixed with a pinch of water
2 tbsp. corn starch
2 1/4 cup. lukewarm water
1/4 tsp cream of tartar to sugar water - optional
3/4 cup water
2 cup white sugar
oil to fry

In the traditional recipe, the Urdi dhal gives the sour taste and crunchy texture right away. I'm for sure going to try this one though

what is the reason for the cream of tartar? glad for this recipe always taut it had yeast in jalebi..yours came out great will try soon

Is this the recipe that is now used to make jalebi? The one I posted is the purely traditional one with the Urdi dhal.

You can find it in Brooklyn too, that's where i first tried it but i didn't like it. Maybe it taste better when they're fresh the one i had was in a package..

I tried this yesterday I its was the worst I had. . Your receipe was to runney ingredients u say to add was not enough when it come to added cornstarch I did eventually and it came out lumpy u make me spoil my stuff.
