I certainly won't try and sell you on the Trinnov. I'm still enjoying mine very much so. Yes your first approach should have been with a laptop. Second approach would be to have read the manual. Watching Shane video over on spare change about the interfaces will get you used to what you're seeing and doing. Sound quality alone is what these processors are definitely known for. Most homeowners have it set up by an integrator they like the simple volume up down and select the source. Us HT hobbyist love the Trinnov for what you can do with it. But we can also find that point of set-it-and-forget-it. Enjoy it come back to it a little later. I wouldn't call the interface janky. All interfaces are very alien to us at first whether we admit it or not. Once we learn something from one manufacturer even if it has nothing to do with the same type of item see that's similar interface on another one we automatically think oh wow that's great. Not so if it's the first time you've seen it. But it didn't sound like you're going to be keeping it either way. Enjoy it while you have it like I said about the sound quality on your last video once you've heard it you always remember it. And you remembered in a way that compares to nothing else sounded better. If it's one other thing I can say about this thing I keep the volume nowhere near the levels I used to. Volume stays so much lower now in the negative numbers where on my Denon say recently -15, -10 or more. Good video though man keep it up. 👍

Thanks! I played around a bit more last night and while my Kaleidescape still isn’t passing HDCP, I think I figured out why settings and such were not retaining in that I wasn’t using profiles correctly. There’s definitely a TON of power here. My new MacBook Pro should come today, so I should have that before I do anything else. And I’m also going to fully RTFM too.

You gotta get an expert on board to get the most out of your Trinnov. It takes training and experience, no change to get there by trying out stuff. Love mine, its incredible.
@Techthusiasm3 жыл бұрын
For sure. This was a special opportunity to try it out, so I took advantage of it. Check out the several videos on the Trinnov I made. They tell the whole story of my experience through multiple steps. This thing is really cool and crazy powerful. It does take the right scenario though to make best use of it.

I have a lot more coming on the Trinnov. My experience has become a bit better. I've figure out how to manage the settings properly and I think my unit might have a bad HDMI 2 port which was behind all the Kaleidescape issues. RTFM... :) New update coming next week, if not later this week maybe.

My own preamp is currently a Marantz AV7704. I quite like it and used an AV7702 previously. I think my next intended upgrade though might be an Anthem AVM70. We’ll see.

Really good information setup, for some one like me craving for and Altitude 16. It's been mention by high end installers that the Trinnov Altitude should be install by a professional home theater calibrator. My current Nad M-17 V2I is a lot easier to set up. Can't wait to see your next video of the Altitude 16, to see if it's really worth the extra $$$ and headache...

Thanks! Yeah, I'm sure there would be a lot of benefit to having real dealer-level install training and whatnot for working with a device like this, but I know my way around gear and UIs pretty well. And I have a dealer to support me for any really deep questions or troubles. I just uploaded an install update earlier today, and I should be able to get more Trinnov content going into this coming week now that all my sources and such are functional.

If the monoprice HTP-1 isn't on your radar, I think you may be an ideal user for a processor like that when units are back in stock. I've thoroughly enjoyed mine

The Anthem AVM70 has my eye, but I intend to shop around for my next upgrade. I don’t have any real problem with the Marantz. I just lucked into the chance to explore the Trinnov for a while. People really seem to like the Monoprice gear now though.
@Fluterra2 жыл бұрын
Dude, the Trinnov is many leagues above the Monoprice. Not even close.
@bartl0062 жыл бұрын
@@Fluterra in what respect? Obviously the trinnov is much more configurable for something like active speakers or other exotic setups, it's modular nature making upgrades possible in the future without having to replace the entire unit, but for most of us with 7.4.4 setups or less, I would bet the audible differences would be subtle at best in a blind A/B test. Maybe you have done this type of test already?

You have a Rolls Royce in your hands, but you gotta take the time to squeeze all the juice from it. It's not your typical Processor. I absolutely ADORE mine.

I took delivery of my Altitude 3 days ago having upgraded from an Anthem AVM70. I’m really struggling with it and feel your pain as I’ve encountered similar issues. Thankfully my dealer is going to remote access and go through everything with me. Looking forward to your next video to see how you’re getting on.
@Techthusiasm3 жыл бұрын
What led you to upgrading from the Anthem? For the longer term, I'm really drawn to the AVM70 as a next likely upgrade from my Marantz. Yes, though, I am getting along better with Trinnov. I plan to do a shorter install update video soon, then a more complete UI overview, like higher quality with direct feed capture, then move on to calibration and such. I've been so busy lately though I haven't even watched anything using it yet. I want to watch something before calibration to be able to compare a same piece of content before/after.
@jjchmiel783 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. I still want to save up and get one, or similar caliber by the time that actually happens. I am contemplating upgrading my Marantz SR6012 with external amps to an actual processor like the 7706 but keep hearing rumors of updated Audyssey, so I am holding out.
@Techthusiasm3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting! I've been happy with my Marantz AV7704 for a while and the AV7702 before that, but I have my eye on an Anthem AVM70 possibly for my "next step" upgrade. The Trinnov is just a demo for me that I'll have for just a few weeks.

I sent this to a few dealers I know, and they all said the same thing. You are not meant set this up on your own and advised me that you go back to your dealer and have him setup. He actually is supposed to do that based on his agreement with Trinnov. There are quirks and and things that the dealers who have had training on the unit should be able to easily get you past.
@Techthusiasm2 жыл бұрын
I hadn't actually purchased the Trinnov from a dealer. It was just a short term loaner from a friend. But yeah, definitely a dealer-supported product to do it right.

Cool, I don't have the Trinnov any more though. It was a loaner from a friend for a short time, so I spun out a handful of videos about my experience using it. Admittedly in the videos, my time was not dealer supported so I was kind of poking around and learning as I went, and it's a pretty complex device on which to do that. Quite awesome and powerful as I discussed in the follow-up videos, but also sometimes hard to use and in need of some of workflow improvements too.
