I just got my Alt16 delivered today was previously running a Lyngdorf MP 60 2.1 that is getting moved upstairs to living room while the Alt16 is going in theater. Now I'm deciding between amps as I want to make a change to drive Paradigm Founders. Right now the short list is NAD M28 Masters, ATI, Anthem and Amplitude. So hard to find dealers that have them installed that I can listed to them. Can find plenty with Hegel, and ATI in showrooms. None with Amplitude or NAD Masters so this video is very much appreciated. Don't think I can go wrong with any of the choices I listed either way but I have to say your video is very very convincing lol.

@@BrolicBeast thank you, I figured it was time to upgrade to the equipment where there is really no upgrade left to go to except if I upgrade for more channels. It’s funny when I really sat down and thought about it when I add up what I’ve spent on AVRs etc for upgrade to upgrade looking at my resell price and what I’ve technically spent over the course of 5 years…I could have already bought a Trinnov. I’m in the mountain states and likely won’t be headed east coast for several months which I’ll have likely already purchased by then.

Excellent review. I love to hear subjective listening experiences like that. I wish I had the cheddar for aTrinnov and wisdom line source speakers but those are waaaaaaay outta my price range. Gonna have to make do with a Denon X6700H and JBL Stage speakers for now. Hopefully at some point I can upgrade to a better 16 channel preamp and JBL CBT line array speakers but at $1000 each thats $13,000+ for a complete upgrade 😱

Great! About having each amplifier in a different 20amp circuit. Do you plug each amplifier power cord (2 per Amplitude 16) directly to a different wall outlet each? Or do you have 4 power conditioners each in a different 20 amp circuit?
@BrolicBeast2 жыл бұрын
Hey there! They each get their own wall outlet. East 20 amp circuit in the equipment room is terminated with a single outlet except for the seventh one, which goes around the room to meet code.

Gain matching does not guarantee that background hiss will be minimized. This is mainly due to speaker sensitivity. Amplitude gain is 19dB. You can find other amps that provide ~20dB.
@BrolicBeast2 жыл бұрын
Speaker sensitivity definitely plays a role,.... Some ultra high sensitivity horns will definitely put some sound out no matter what amp their paired with. Gain matching is absolutely a benefit. I'm not saying other amplifiers can't also match gain with an altitude, I'm just saying that this one does and combined with its other benefits, this made it a winning choice for me.
@gmartin0312 Жыл бұрын

Wow you have the full 32 channals. And ya gonna use the full 36. So gelous. So how does that work? Meaning how many beds subs and hights? On their site they say 24 beds for the subs I assume it is they have an x so who knows how many then 10 I assume hights. This true? How do you have them configed?
@BrolicBeast5 ай бұрын
Hey there, it's 11 bed channels, 8 Atmos channels, and eight subwoofers. But the Maine and Surrounds are all active, requiring two Trinnov channels each.
@MrHamit645 ай бұрын
@@BrolicBeast Ah and that's why 32 then? Okay. I was just confused cause HDMI supposedly can put out 32 channels. But I couldn't figure out how to devide 32 into beds hights and subs. Man I'd love 1 of these processers. Ah and the Ascendo subs an I guess they make satilite speakers too.
@Fluterra2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately you don’t get the audio quality as you would from XLR if you use the TASCAM style cables. There are no free lunches! Think about it: 32 individual balanced cables vs 4 ribbon cables. You won’t get all the benefits that good cables provide. You’ve gone this, far, get the 32 XLR cables… I know they are not cheap, but it’s like putting Kumho tires on your Ferrari.
@BrolicBeast2 жыл бұрын
If you look inside any XLR cable, those signal cables are quite thin and the diameter of the DB25 cables is definitely sufficient to hold eight full gauge signal constructs. As long as the conductor is excellent, and the sheathing is excellent, and the termination done properly, it's definitely good! With the DB25 cables in TASCAM config, they're just just packed into a single sheath and terminated differently.

Any fan of Brian's is ok with me, :) Never come across this channel before, despite watching loads of home cinema type content. (damn you goole's algorithm) Really good to see someone doing something different, with the onscreen graphics, Only critique I would have is having blasted background music on when your talking, if what you have to say is worth hearing, there is no need for background music, it is very annoying and distracting, and for an old coot like me with dodgy hearing it makes it harder to make out what your saying.
