TRIP REPORT | Air Europa A330 | CLOSE to Go-Around! | Madrid - Tenerife Los Rodeos

Air Europa trip report flight from Madrid to Tenerife onboard one Airbus A330. Including a fast visit to Puerta de Alcalá business lounge, in Madrid Terminal 2.
When starting the descent to Tenerife, the captain told us that the weather in Los Rodeos airport wasn't good. There was almost no visibility, low clouds, fog and drizzle. It was probably to make a go-around and try the approach again. In case of a second go-around, we would be diverting to Tenerife-South airport. Let's see what happened!

I think that you convinced me to fly with Air Europa from Athens to Madrid in September.It will be a great chance to fly in an A330 or maybe a 787..Fantastic video .The fog at the end was pretty heavy.Cheers

WOW!!!! sólo pocos minutos más en aproximación a la pista y era un go-around y posiblemente aterrizaje en Tenerife-sur por la densidad de niebla que se vió durante el aterrizaje, igual excelente video

Pues parece que sí. Uno nunca sabe si esa nube cubrió toda la pista o no... En cualquier caso, la aproximación entre nubes tampoco estuvo nada mal.. :)

Es lo habitual. Después de frustrar, salvo que la meteo sea muy mala, suele volver a intentarse y luego irse al alternativo.

I know that I'm lucky! But you wouldn't believe if I tell you that there are some cons (just a few) but there are still there. For example: sleeping in airports. It can sound nice, but it is not at all ;)

😂😂 probablemente era el único que quería go around 😂😂 A mi me pasa y creo que me hago un poco de pis encima... jaja. No me gustan nada los techos de nubes... la verdad que son unos ratos que paso de mucho agobio, la sensación de no ver nada por la ventana y pensar, no habrá ahí en medio una montaña o algo 🙄. Jajaja Es muy posible sí. El vídeo hab´ria quedado mucho más interesante seguro jaja No debes preocuparte por volar entre nubes. Lo pilotos nos entrenamos mucho en ello. De hecho, como durante nuestra formación no siempre hay nubes, nos ponemos una especie de visera (justo después de despegar) que no nos permite ver nada fuera del avión, es decir, como si estuviésemos dentro de nubes, y volamos sólo siguiendo los instrumentos del avión. Al principio es una sensación muy extraña, pero una vez terminas la formación, aunque fuera no haya una sola nube, nosotros nos centramos siempre en los instrumentos, pues nuestros sentidos pueden engañarnos muy fácilmente, pero los instrumentos no. @@josemariuko Jeje Hazlo así. Durante mi formación aprendí que los sentidos fallan muy frecuentemente. Especialmente cuando confías en ellos sin cuestionarlos. Si embargo, los instrumentos no. Éstos pueden fallar, por supuesto que sí, pero al ser independientes, si uno falla se puede detectar con relativa facilidad y rapidez. Saludos y disfruta mucho de tus vuelos! :)

Thanks so much, Gábor! I've never used (and I'm not planning to do so in the future) a fixed camera. I enjoy recording the videos and that has to be done by hand. Many people told me how I can maintain the camera without shaking... well, I really don't know what to answer. It's been something that I've been doing for the last 4 years in every flight and I guess I've learnt which positions are the best to avoid that shaking... Anyways, thanks so much for your comment. I'm really glad that you like my videos so much! :))

Muchas gracias!! Este aeropuerto está en la zona norte de la isla de Tenerife y ahí el clima es muy distinto al del sur de la isla (la parte turística), supongo que esto se debe a la cordillera que está por allí. Saludos! :)

@@josemariopa No digo que sea siempre así, desde luego que no, pero sí que el clima en el norte es peor que en el sur. De las veces que he volado a Tenerife Norte (unas 5 o 6) esta fue la peor de todas sin duda, pero nunca tuve un día sin ninguna nube. Sin embargo, cuando he volado desde/hacia Tenerife Sur, siempre he tenido buen tiempo, sin excepción.

¿A que se debe volar en un a330 en un vuelo de corto radio?

Esta ruta ha sido siempre una ruta con una demanda enorme. Llegó a haber 4 operadores con varias frecuencias al día en esta ruta (Air Europa 2x con A330, 1x con B737 // Iberia Express 5x A320/A321 // Ryanair 1x B737 // Norwegian 2x con B737). Además, al llevar este tipo de avión, pueden llevarse también un importante volumen de carga en las bodegas.

I'm wondering why AEA is flying WB to Canary Islands on most flights (even though they are empty like this one), while IBE chooses to fly cramped IBS NB... I hope IBE will switch to WB on these routes!

Hahaha That's for sure! But I don't do it always! I think that will change soon, but the videos will continue to have the same "taste" I hope! :) Iberia was flying also with wide-body planes but with Iberia Express they've decided to stop doing it. The A340-600 was flying daily to Tenerife North. The reason is the high cargo demand on this route, as far as I know.

@@OnBoardHD I didn't have the chance to get on the new aircraft, but I got for all 4 times the old seats. IBS is actually too tight in my opinion and there's a huge different with IBE cabin (at least on front seats) in terms of comfort, even though the seats are actually the same. I much prefer to have flown on a IBE WB as AEA does. I will consider AEA for the next times...

@@NikiSvaizer In my opinion, talking about legroom, IB gives an excessive legroom to the business rows in detriment of the economy rows, that are also a very important part of the airline revenue. For example: if you compare LH A320 with IB A320, both have basically the same number of seats, but LH gives 30 inches to every row (maybe not a lot for business class, but enough for an European flight), while IB gives 32 to the business rows and 28 to economy. Those 2 inches (slightly more than 5 cm) are a huge difference, especially if you take into account that they have similar prices both airlines.

Es una ruta con una gran demanda, pero no sólo de pasajeros: también de carga, aspecto que el A330 puede cubrir perfectamente con sus enormes bodegas. No vuela a ningún otro lado. Desde TFN vuelve a Madrid. Saludos

If you want to know about AFN school you should call them directly, ask for info and, if you would like to know more, ask for a date to get an interview. That being said, I'm really happy with all my education in AFN and, if I would have to choose again, I would be going there, for sure. The job opportunities are there, that's for sure. If you work hard and do your best, the airlines will be happy to give you opportunities in different assessments. I got a job in a commercial airline a couple of months after finishing, so yes, there are opportunities out there.
