Thanks Pete - nice to see a ride on Alex and the scenery looked pleasant too. I have been on Alex only once: - Munich - Regensburg. As the train was super packed it was not a great experience but would love to try it again at a less busy time.

Thanks so much Linda! Yes, between Munich and Regensburg these trains run very full. I have traveled the whole route from Prague to Munich several times and the only part of the train where it's not so crowded is 1st class :-D

Díky! No je to jednoduché, vlak z Prahy a Hofu se sejdou ve Schwandorfu, tam se spojí a jedou pak jako jeden vlak do Mnichova. A protože souprava z Prahy už tam stála, tak se přejíždělo na jinou kolej se soupravou z Hofu. Jinak dřív se posunovalo se soupravou co jela z Prahy (ale ta už teď neměla lokomotivu)

A bit cloudy out upon departure. 1st class and it is in a one level car. I would always opt for the bi level and always choose upstairs, so much nicer in my opinion. So it is second class, I am surprised it would not be a first class area. I was in Regensburg, Jan 2020 just before the pandemic hit. I enjoyed my visit there, nice old town. Thanks for the ride, see you again soon.

Thanks so much! I chose a one level car because it has openable windows. In addition, these trains now run very full, so 1st class is the only option for a quieter journey :-)

I love the old coaches on the ALEX train sets. Being able to open the windows this far has become really rare these days, and the seats are super comfortable; You can buy your tickets on board as well, right at the bord bistro which usually is open. Not common to be able to buy your tickets after getting on the train

I also like old Alex coaches, I like the diversity of their fleet. I bought my Bayern ticket in advance because I took more trains within Bayern that day, this train was my 2nd in a row that day :-)

@@PeteBrandy did you proceed on the Agilis regional or another train from Regensburg then? Yes it's definetly unique to find train sets with mixed single and double deck coaches. Kind of funny to see the train with ordinary coaches and ONE double deck coach in between. I love the heritage electric locomotive which has the color scheme of an old steam locomotive.

From Plattling I took a train to Bayerisch Eisenstein, where I moved by walk to Železná Ruda Alžbětín to catch my next train to Prague :-)

Thank you for a most interesting video. I really like the Alex trains, having used them several times between Munchen and Regensburg, when the train has been hauled by a Siemens Taurus loco. I particularly enjoy travelling in the double-deck car, and hopefully they will be retained for some time yet !

Thank you so much! I also traveled between Regensburg and München several times, but mostly with Prague portion. I also have a video from whole Prague to München route. Double decker car looks good for travel, but I preferred openable window in classic car more :-)

Great video Pete - thanks! 🙂 It also answers the question of why my train from Prague to Munich didn't go any further than Schwandorf about 10 days ago. German police were checking passports once we got we got to Furth im Wald (because of the number of people fleeing Ukraine), making us quite late. I didn't realise the trains are supposed to merge at Schwandorf for the remaining journey to Regensburg and Munich. So the portion from Hof continued on without us. I enjoyed the trip, though.

Thanks so much! Yes, both trains (from Prague and from Hof) join in Schwandorf into one train. I also have a video from the whole route Prague - Munich :-) Btw. delays due to passport checks was a reason, why I traveled via Cheb and Hof a week ago. But my opinion, the best option how to travel to Munich is via Cheb and Nürnberg :-)

Díky moc! Ano, otevíratelná okna už budou pomalu minulostí. Tyto vozy se mi líbí, jen by zasloužily trochu zmodernizovat interiér. Mimochodem stejný základ mají i ČD velkoprostorové vozy Bdpee233, které jezdí i na části Praha - Mnichov, a také ČD lůžkové vozy WLABmee :-)

V těch Alex vagonech občas jedu z Prahy do Plzně, opravdu záleží, co je zrovna řazeno za vagony. Někdy jsem chytil pěkné modernizované vozy, kde i v 2. třídě byly zásuvky u každého sedadla a někdy ty vozy, co jsou ve videu, a kde bych zásuvky hledal marně. Takže asi záleží i na štěstí, co je zrovna řazeno.

Na Pražskou větev (od nového grafikonu značenou jako EuroCity) by správně měly být nasazovány jen ty novější vozy (ABbmdz a Bmz), ale ABvmz jezdí do Prahy velmi často a celkem hodně se tu objevují i staré neklimatizované Bm.. bohužel u Alex to funguje ta, že pošlou co zrovna mají a občas pošlou i jen jeden vůz :-D

Tyhle vozy nejsou špatné, jen je docela nedomyšlené, že je ta první třída uprostřed vozu, pokud je to ten vůz, co si myslím :D

Nene, ty nedomyšlené jsou ABbmdz, ty jezdí většinou na Pražské větvi. Tyto ABvmz mají 3 kupé 1. třídy na kraji, což je v pohodě.

Hello, does somebody know, does the Operator DLB Die Länderbahn cz accept an Interrail Ticket, because when I wrote them, I recive an Czech Answer ( the Google Translater translated that they accept it ) but then I recive from annother Mail account (also from Die Länderbahn an General Information about Interrail, where it says, that only Ceske drahy is inclusive) Someone is supposed to know about this?? Yes and no but not?? I want to from Rumburk to Mlada Boleslav. By TL 4 DLB. Does somebody know the answer maybe, otherwise I have to call them. Best regards From Vienna Toni

Depends on train composition, the ABvmz 1st/2nd class coach (I've travelled in) is air conditioned, but most Alex 2nd class coaches are not air-conditioned (only new Bmz coaches that run on the route from Prague are air-conditioned).

The interiors definitely need refurbishment. But, complaining about no snack service on a 2 hour ride??? Maybe it's because I'm used to crappy trains here in the USA.

I do not complain about the snack service, I only informed about this service announced in the timetable. Otherwise, the total journey time of this train (Hof to Munich portion) is 3h39m and the journey time of the 2nd part of the train (Prague to Munich) is approximately 6 hours.

Od prosince 2023 by měly linku Hof - Mnichov převzít DB Regio. Na linku Praha - Mnichov by měl jezdit podle nového výběrka ÖBB Allegra Deutschland s ČD, ale údajně se Die Länderbahn (Alex) odvolaly, takže to ještě není jisté.
