For this journey I took Sleeper train from Czech capital Prague to Krakow, the second-largest city in Poland. This service is operated daily between Prague and Przemysl by private carrier RegioJet. I was accommodated in a couchette car that originally ran on DB NachZug and City Night Line trains.

Thanks for the ride , I enjoyed it. In March I am again taking RJ from Vienna to Prague, relax class 2nd class and then changing to CD Prague to Dresden, coach. The price was great for Vienna to Prague. senior price of e9.5 and the CD price to Dresden was also good. OBB wanted a lot more. Thanks again for taking me along

I discovered the train in Wienhaupbahnhof station and then in Prague thé land of my ancestors. Indeed I understood that it was a private company. I filmed in Prague station in March. Hi, if you plan to take a night train to Krakow, I recommend the EuroNight train, which is more comfortable and at the same price :-)

If you want to book the EuroNight train, the best way is on the České dráhy website, which is the carrier operating this train (Prague portion)

Nice video! I also traveled on this train from Katowice to Praha. Due to late connecting train from Ukraine, we had to wait for our train till 2 am... I could book a ČD couchette but RGJ was half the price (55 EUR vs 28 EUR per person. For that price it was a bargain and I fully recommend this service. I was even surprised that we received a single-use linen which is not always the case with couchettes. So when compared to a regular sleeper it's far worse but for backpackers that just want to get from a place A to B it's a great way to travel (better than Ryanair).

That's right, the price will be compared only when the entire compartment is booked, the price was already very similar to the ČD sleeper deluxe compartment. But even when traveling with more people, RegioJet comes out cheaper. Btw. once I flew from Krakow to Prague with Ryanair and I really regretted not taking the train :-D

I would say that train connection to Poland is completely broken since war in Ukraine started. You have to change train in Bohumín for no reason or it's full of Ukrainians. They should have some special "refugee trains" or something, because this is not fair towards ordinary travelers who want to have good experience and use 1st class with no yelling ukrainians.

Really enjoy your videos and this one is no exception! Surprised to see the lavs in such great condition, many times the carriages they send on the Prague-Vienna-BUD route have horrible lavatories. Buttons missing, toilet seat missing, no water, no locking doors…. It’s usually an adventure going to the bathroom on RegioJet services between Vienna and BUD.

These couchettes were bought by from Deutsche Bahn after 2019, so the passengers probably didn't have time to destroy them :-D The carriages that run on the route to Budapest were bought by RegioJet between 2011 - 2014, and it seems to me that they use the worst cars on this line.

👏 Another thumbs up for this coverage . Personally, I wouldn't be disturbed by some station lights passing by occasionaly - but the lack of accurate curtains towards the corridor is a rather nasty foul . On the other side, I think the couchette stategy of companies like RegioJet or SNCF also is a good choice . Similar to the big russian or indian railways such a carriage type allows a wide variety of offers by guarding the fleet costs acceptable due to the economies of scale . It's possible to sell 10 cabins as single with optional services - but also to create an affordable ride for 60 people . The offer of a reliable, spacious, clean shower/toilet with an accurate room fragrance is a niche product for agency trains like the special category on the VSOE for example - a station based offer is more suitable . ?Przemysl - when I first heard about this place was upon the new routing of the former Metropol night service(Berlin-Dresden-Prague-Breclav-VIE/BUD) - as Nightjet began to operate there . Quite hard to pronounce for a native german speaking tongue ... Premissel is easier ) Nowadays it certainly has a big importance ... But were there other international night services to this destination before Nightjet(PKP InterCity), RegioJet ? Is there a context with the cancelled "Saratov-Express" from Berlin, which also had through cars towards the Ukraine(Odessa etc) ?

Thanks so much! A few years ago there was a Przemyslanin night train from Przemysl, which I think continued to Berlin, now it also runs as a night train, but it doesn't continue to Frankfurt (Oder), but goes as a domestic to Szczecin / Swinoujcie. Przemysl has always been an important transfer point for trains in the direction of Lviv and further east, there is also the possibility of changing bogies for sleeping cars. Otherwise, the RegioJet train to Przemysl has not been in operation for that long. But there are day trains from the Czech Republic to Przemysl operated for several years, the EC Cracovia train from Prague and also the EC Porta Moravica train from Graz.

I'm curious to know what you do with yourself when you arrive at a city at 0500? Is anything open? Can you get into a hotel?

Fortunately, there is a cafe already open in Kraków at the railway station. Otherwise, I travel by night trains so that I don't have to take a hotel. In this particular case, I went for breakfast, then walked around the historic city center and then moved to the airport because I was continuing to my next destination.

Yeah, this is really annoying that you can't check in before like 12:00, but in some hotels, you can at least let your things there and return later. And what to do in such time? We call it zevlování in Czech, which means you just exist somewhere. 😀

About 2 weeks in advance, but I had to choose a day when there was less occupancy. Usually on Fridays the trains are more busy and the entire compartments may be already sold out.

I have traveled this train from Prague and from Krakow and it is incredibly uncomfortable. This is a very old train and typically some of the washrooms can be broken and the sleeping arrangements can be uncomfortable and dirty. If you are booking the leg into Ukraine through RegioJet be aware they may not book that for what ever reason and you can be forced to find other arrangements. This company is not a 1st class company. My current experience ( in the last day) is they forgot to book my leg from Lviv to Przemysl and now I must find a way to Przemysl to catch the train to Prague. Just be aware when you use RegioJet you are taking chances.

Ten vůz jezdí jako low cost třída na komerčních vlacích kategorie IC, ale u tohoto nočního vlaku je označen jako třída standard (i je tak označen v rezervacích) a většinou se střídá s vozem s kupé.

Question… i am noting that you can purchase the entire bunk. That is great! But what if you are traveling and do not want to purchase the entire bunk… will the person or person{s} you share with be of the same sex? Also what if you purchase a bunk and you are with your wife/girlfriend… could you end of sharing a compartment and will the person you share with be of the same sex..????

You can buy the entire compartment or entire bunk. For women it is possible to purchase a bed in the women's compartment, but if you are traveling as a couple, then only a mixed compartment. But in my opinion, for 2 people (or a couple) it is better to buy the entire compartment, the price difference is not so big if you buy the ticket in advance.
