Today I’m finally flying Delta again and no less than on the mighty rare B767-400ER.
I chose this flight specifically because it seemed empty online, and it eventually was!
A big thanks to the crew of DL106, lovely meeting you and thanks for the great care!

Thanks a lot Peter! Yes, I have no plans in earning a dime complaining. I firmly believe that it mostly depends on your own attitude. I find it funny to watch other famous youtubers video’s and see how they are having a tough time for example on a Lufthansa B747-400 while I had the time of my absolute life there. Even pre-renovation, the cabin was fairly modern. The only bad thing about pre-renovation was the very very dated and worn Delta One seats that people hate. Even then, Delta's 767 was the best among US airlines. United also has a decent 767 design after their recent renovation.

2-3-2 configuration in economy class is amazing Long flights economy class configuration should be 2-3-2 Premium 2-2-2 Business and first class 1-2-1

Good video! You’re right about the delta website. Finding out about the empty seats is a game changer. I booked a jfk-Lhr last minute and saw the flight was half empty a day before departing. I usually fly business or comfort +, but I saved big bucks by booking economy knowing I could lie down on four empty seats on the 2-4-2 configuration. Btw, Delta is by far the best US airline.

The intro wasn't goofy at all, I *LOVE* the 767-400ER. It was my first ever wide-body that I flew (twice the size as any plane I'd flown before it). I personally think it's among the most underrated jets of all time and I'm surprised it wasn't more successful.

It is one awesome machine, I completely loved it. But I understand why it did not do well, and it’s sad. Almost the same story as the A340-500: it came out at the wrong moment. I am however looking forward flying it again :D!

Nice video... I am putting my elderly mother on to a LHR to ATL Delta 767-400 in Premium Select to come visit me this summer... used airmiles for that... did not have enough miles for Delta One sadly but looks like she should be comfortable

Nice video and well edited! I remember when the 767-400ER was brand new and began replacing Delta‘s aging L1011 TriStars (which will always be my favorite aircraft - hence my name), now the 764 is almost as old as the TriStar it replaced … gosh time flies! 767s and 777s are currently my favorite planes… I honestly don’t care much for the brand new Dreamliners and A350s … they’re kind of boring and generic looking planes… but obviously the future. About your question concerning the fact that US flight attendants usually mention where the crew is based is due to the fact that the major US carriers have far more hubs and thus more crew bases than most European/Gulf/Asian carriers that mostly have only one or two. LH and BA were probably an exception with having more bases in the past but that has changed as well… LH now only has FRA and MUC left after closing DUS, HAM, TXL, BRE, HAJ, STR and NUE and foreign bases in DEL, BKK and NRT. Delta for instance has more than 10 different crew bases and satellites. So do United and American. Sometimes flight attendants staffing a flight are from a different base than the pilots, for instance United still has a London/Heathrow flight attendant base which staffs transatlantic flights out of LHR but pilots are all US based. Back in the day when Delta still flew intra-Europe and Europe to India they operated foreign flight attendant bases and in recent years it became a little more common for flight attendants to pick up out of base trips, so for example you might have DTW based flight attendants on a ATL to CDG flight. So by announcing „You‘re JFK based crew“ they indicate that it’s all JFK, otherwise they might announce „You‘re JFK based flight attendants and ATL based pilots“ or „You‘re ATL and DTW based flight attendants“ … I’ve always felt like this was a nice touch. When you fly EK all crew members on every flight are Dubai based… so no need to point out where they’re based. They only have one. Thanks for the incredibly detailed and interesting comment, I’ve enjoyed it very much indeed! The L1011 was the one that got away for me. I used to watch many video’s and documentaries about it and fell in love with the plane. Tri-holers have always been my favorite. The L1011’s engine roar is just a legend.. Thanks also for sharing the story about the crew bases. I am aware of all the bases, more airlines have many bases. For example, Ryanair, Easyjet, Wizzair and Vueling to name a few, yet nobody tells where they are based despite operating all over Europe.. It is a nice touch indeed! Yet I still wonder why! Perhaps because some bases are for very senior employees and they wish to “let everyone know” or something? On this particular flight in the video there were some ex Pan Am crew and they had to remind me a couple of times during the flight. The same happens when someone comes from Northwest and not Delta, I have to be told at some point! Funny anecdotes to me.. Thanks again for the comment and all the best my friend!

I enjoyed this video immensely. I, and my wife, over the last 6 years have had the good fortune of flying 5 or 6 times a year, always in J or F class. Her from the US to Europe and me from the Middle East to Europe to meet up. A good half-way meeting point. Now that I'm retired I have a few Delta flight credits to use up and just booked ATL-FRA for early next year in Premium Select. I'm a taller/bigger guy and am kinda freaking about about not being in J/F and wondering, besides what you showed on the video, you could tell me about the PS experience. We are in 20 E/F (she always gets the window:()and, though I don't normally like bulkheads, the room you showed looked massive. Was the wall mounted screen in that row smaller than in row 21 & 22? As a "twosome" would you have gone back to row 21 or 22? Anything else you could provide would be great. Great video.

2:40, I was lucky to United airlines rare Boeing 767-400ER last March from Honolulu to Washington Dulles and the flight is good and okay, almost 8 and a half hours, the longest domestic flight in the US and the Boeing 767-400ER.

It seems that Delta will switch from the B764 to A332 from April 2024. My FRA-JFK flight on 28 March is with B764, the return flight in April is shown with A332

Delta is really good with alcohol drink. Wait until you check out the Asian routes and the Japanese, Korea and Chinese spirits... Even the bulk red/white wines that comes out of the plastic cola bottle are pretty drinkable. The B767 is my favorite widebody and I've sent countless days and nights on those.

@@TheLayoverAviation As you perfectly depicted in your video, the 767-400 cabin fixture is basically the same as 777 but way less seats, so it's quite comfortable. The only fault I can think of is the older engine design and narrower fuselage result in slightly louder ride that other widebodies...

Hey Robert, thanks for watching and the comment! I didn’t know the service was modified from before. Likely it will go back to original sometime soon as things seem to be improving. About the VPN, if I have time (which I already barely have) I’ll try to show. But each flight video takes me some full days to edit and I still have another 30+ to finish🥲. Hey Mark, I arrived in Frankfurt at around 05:50am and yes, made it to Ams. I use various sources for the planes, one is to check the Flightradar24 app and other is just to check at the gate where it’s going to (if it’s parked at a gate). Thanks for watching!

.....and why wasn't the - 400 ER not a succes ? Because Boeing introduced the 767-300 ER follower to late when the battle against the A 330-200/300 was already lost. So the queen of the North Atlantic was Airbus after they conquered the market there.

When you see cities from the air you see entire metro area’s, not just the city boundaries. So I always include that. I live myself in the outskirts of Dubai, and I consider it Dubai. But if we follow strict rules I live elsewhere..

It’s just not an airport that I enjoy.. I could spend hours and hours in Singapore, Hong Kong, Munich, Amsterdam etc.. If you’ve been to any of those you’ll understand what I mean. Although T4 in JFK is quite all-right, nice views!

You think this is great? Delta Premium Select WAS great before COVID. Before COVID: 1. your dinner consisted of the same app Biz class was getting, and your main was a sub-set of the ones served in biz class. Your salad and dessert are same served in regular Economy. Now you get same food as Economy class. 2. You got a welcome drink (no longer) 3. Your meal was served on Alessi china. 4. You got real glassmare for your wine or mixed drinks. 5. Your FA was attentive and happy to provide drink refills (much like Biz class). No more. Premium Select has gone WAY downhill since COVID. And don't get me started on the service and food going way down in ONE class on Delta since COVID. Delta used to have fantastic biz class food. Now it is seriously rubbish. Flown 4 times in ONE class during COVID and the food was just nauseatingly bad. Not much better than what you showed.

I actually didn’t know Kevin, so thank you very much for all the info! That sounds like an incredible product! I hope to be able to experience it soon. Most airlines have used Covid as an excuse to perform service cuts under said pretext and most won’t bring back the full experience as this is just more economical. I really hope though that Delta will bring back the full experience. They are the one US airline able to compete against all the great Asian and Middle East carriers.
