Come with me and the elusive brother to Scotland - the home of my ancestors and my heart.
This holiday was very accessible disability wise - the public transport was really easy, taxis are affordable and abundant and everyone was incredibly nice. Calton Hill allows for taxis to the top - which is something I didn't know until I'd climbed it :')
A lot of buildings had lifts within, and I saw a lot of fellow cane users, people using crutches, mobility walkers and wheelchairs. However, most of the buildings have steps leading up to the entrances and even some of the pavements had steps up from the road especially on the Mile and around the old town.
Be prepared for lots of walking, and some steep inclines.
We visited:
Edinburgh
Stirling Castle
Greyfriar's Kirkyard
Queensferry
The Museum of Witchcraft (off of the Mile)
Bannockburn battle site
The Kelpies in Falkirk
Frankenstein's Bar
Flashing lights at:
19.17 until 19.32
33.50 until 35.54
Bookshops visited:
Waterstones (Princes St)
Blackwell's (South Bridge)
Forbidden Planet (South Bridge)
Old Town Bookshop (Victoria St)
Stayed in the Premier Inn waterfront in Leith and would highly recommend for quiet nights but accessible to the city centre on the tram.
