Framegen stacks with this btw. So what you can do is get the DLSS frame gen by puredark, use that to double FPS, and then enable lossless scaling. You end up with a stable 4x frame rate with SIGNIFICANTLY less screen artifacts. The DLSS does a great job at keeping things looking good for the first pass of framegen. Then lossless scaling has a high enough base framerate(double your actual from DLSS) to scale off of resulting in a SURPRISINGLY clean visuals. So basically as long as you can reach a fourth of your monitors frame rate in game while running 2 upscalers, you will have a very awesome experience. 1440p Quality DLSS with framegen/lossless scaling results in me keeping a steady 36FPS with most mod packs using my 4070(*2*2=144).

I'm going to assume it's similar in what fsr and Nvidias frame gen does. It adds fake frames in-between real ones, these are fake as they are of a lower quality and will also introduce input lag. It's why 60fps is recommended as a baseline as the artifacts and input lag get worse the lower your fps, this isnt really a thing for going from 30 to 60, it's more about going from 60 to 120 or hitting 200+ on high refresh monitors.

It's pure wizardry is what it is. I got it a while back for Dragon's Dogma 2 and Cyberpunk 2077, since my GPU doesn't support official frame generation (RTX 3070) and I was surprised by how well it just works with no discernible downside like input lag, or the jittery UI you get from frame generation mods. Even the upscaler, I've found that looks/performs better than those in-game for most cases.

@@daethmer7834 there is *some* but not as much as what I've experienced with mods that do the same. The frame gen mod for Dragons Dogma 2 makes the UI so jittery that it bothers me. It's not perfect, but it also depends on how low your actual frame rate is. The lower it is, the more input lag you'll notice and the more artifacts will show. But that's the case with all frame generation. In my testing, if you're getting 40-50fps minimum, you're fine.

That's not how this works and it won't magically make your games better. You want a baseline of 60fps as this isn't real fps, it adds frames in-between the real ones and is recommended to have a baseline of 60 due to input lag and issues that can arise. It's not something that's going to magically allow you to play games at 4k. Even with the upscaling part ( as it's not 4k then )

@@quemsereu2009 yup, it will feel worse technically as it adds input lag. You would need reflex or AMDs anti lag to bring it back down. Definitely gonna try this. I have been getting 144 frames for the most part, in interiors and outside in less intense areas, looking at the ground/sky etc. But they can also dip quite substantially. I like my game looking good but i really like my frames, while frame gen isnt technically extra fps, if the input delay is low then who cares I suppose. I know it can also potentially cause ghosting/artifacting i think. Hows you experience with it in general? Do higher drawcalls affect it? How is it in the notorious skyrim locations like falkreath?
@biggie_boss5 ай бұрын
Skyrim runs on DX11 so you still want to keep draw calls under 12,000 when possible. Anything over 12k will lower base FPS on any PC and the more info lossless has to work with, the better experience. Although I find that capping my fps at 40 and doing the 3x frame gen is ideal for me and I usually get 50+ fps in heavy areas.

Does this also work good with variable framerate? For example I got a 4080 super and i5 12600KF. And while most modlists work just fine with 60FPS in 1080/1440p in the wilderness the FPS can drop pretty segnificantly in the cities. With Lorerim I had 29FPS at some point in Solitude 🥲 think that was the worst example Ive experienced. Usually its still above 40 tho even with much trouble going on. If this could fix those eternal Skyrim FPS problems in cities thatd be great. Also is this a problem everybody has? Bcs even with a 4090 I couldnt see it alw being 60+FPS in large cities when you enter. The FPS stabilizes once youre in the middle of it bcs not everything is loaded infront of you. It seems like as no matter how strong the PC is at some point the game just cant keep up. The GPU as well as the CPU are at 50% at best in FullHD and even switching up to QHD barely changes anything. Maybe some drops in the wilderness. Only in 4k you can see the GPU reaching its limits pending between 50 and 60FPS. That makes me believe that even a more powerful GPU wouldnt change toooo much. Maybe a bit. Its a bit like with Oldrim back then. Just not as drastic. The game is still playable :^

I have the program, I like it but I wish there was a .5 frame gen just every third frame to increase smoothness while reducing input latency. As someone who uses high refresh rate monitors I've come to notice the difference, but it's more of a feel than anything. While frame gen can increase the smoothness of the video it doesn't make it feel different, it still feels like native fps. Just because you generate extra frames doesn't make the input less you still need to wait for the next native frame to generate before the software can add a new interpolated frame. I don't like playing at 70fps to bump it up to 140fps I don't want to use 45fps to triple it to 140fps that feels horrible. We have all played a game or two at very high frame rate only for the experience to feel bad, you get very high input latency, where the time it takes to register a movement in game takes longer to update the video than low fps. Middle Earth Shadow of War comes to mind, 140fps easy yet it feels horrible, than going threw several forms I find out the game engine has horrible input latency. Something like 17-18ms at 140fps which is horrible generally the input latency should be around 4ms. I've tried to just leave the frame rate uncapped but it feels horrible, just microstuttering in some of the games I play. I would much prefer to just lock my frame rate to something like 90 and gen it to 120fps. That way the input latency is still low, so the response feels good.

7 USD in US but 4 USD where I live. The Devs just straight up killed AFMF which is insane. AMD's method of driver-level frame generation would put a strain on the GPU, it is also super inconsistent and adds noticeable input delay. LSFG does a better job at consistently (although janky) generate frames while not affecting input latency in games. Speaking of AMD, since they acquired the baseline for FSR tech from an Indie Dev's app that features dynamic resolution in games in the past, I'm curious whether the same thing will happen to Lossless Scaling.

That’s insane considering Frame Gen is only available on 4000 cards currently. This must bypass that somehow

Damn... my Nexus payout could not come any quicker. I am going to do a test, Loseless Scaling vs PureDark's FSR-3 mod. It'll be interesting to see how the two compare. If it's better, I might start a new series for this utility 👀

Have you compared them yet? I'm quite interested in the results :D
@mfvicli5 ай бұрын
@@ImNoah I have. The program is very good, though I would still recommend PureDark's upscaler over Loseless Scaling. There are simply too many graphical glitches to be considered usable. Daniel Owen explained it better here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmmQanqsZb-pmKc The program was nearly flawless in other games, Minecraft being one of them. I am going to keep it, but I will not continue to use it in Skyrim.

Ok I hope you can answer this but, doesn't ENB require you to use fullscreen mode? LS is made to use on windowed mode right? So, should we run the game windowed mode or fullscreen with ENB? Another question, if I wanna play 60 fps, do we have to enable or disable Vsync in game? Since my monitor doesn't have 120hz.
@Dregomz025 ай бұрын
LS only works in fullscreen borderless mode you can't use it in small windowed mode. It doesn't matter if you disable/enable vsync if you don't have a high refresh monitor and game already had 30fps cap
@cottenceauarnaud74014 ай бұрын
@@Dregomz02 of course you can use LS on small windowed mode (border or borderless) but you need to enable upscaling to make it fullscreen

So if you are using the x3 frame gen, you need to cap your fps at the third of your monitor refresh rate? Or am I getting this wrong?
@biggie_boss5 ай бұрын
That's correct :)
@cottenceauarnaud74014 ай бұрын
@@biggie_boss you don't mandatory need if you enable vertical sync in LS because that way LS will only generate frames up to your selected settings (X2 or X3) OR you monitor refresh rate (the first that is reached). So even if you can reach eg 45 fps flat and your monitor is 60 Hz then you will not get x2 (90 fps) or x3 (135 fps) but only the needed to get to 60 fps (less generated images might be wanted for less artifacts for example) but if you cap to half or third of your monitor refresh rate you might get some artifacts but you will also use far less power from your gpu (good for notebooks). matter of tastes and priority :)

I tried it and don't like it for 3 reasons: - noticable input delai (makes camera precision bad, you will get mad for aiming stuff, wich is what you do when you play skyrim) - visually wierd when moving the camera (hard to describe with words) - having to launch the program everytime you play skyrim Definitetly not worth it ..

I just used it and my mind is completely blown. It's literally free 3 times the fps. And there arent even artifacting unless you stutter. Once again, my mind is blown. And if you play around with the settings, the input delay is non-existent.

Anyone else have issues with crazy frame jitter (not sure what else to call it) in dark areas? It looks like the the frames are stuttering/shaking or really bad motion blur or somethin. Fps doesn't drop and no additional input latency or lag occurs. Other than blur and artifacting I didn't see any other comments about this issue. Overall seems to work really well outside during the day and in well lit interiors. This is sadly a deal breaker for me, unless there is a work around. Typically I get 60fps+ (with DLSS upscaling) everywhere with a couple of exceptions, outside Whiterun, Windhelm and Markarth can dip into low 40's but those areas have draw calls of 15k+. I love how smooth the 120fps feels with FG x3, I can even get that in outside Whiterun which is my absolute worst fps location. It's a shame I can't seem to figure out why it looks so bad at night or in dark areas. 3090 @ 3440x1440p, G-sync disabled, capped @40fps with FG x3 (for 120hz) I am also using PD's DLSS upscaling. Cheers Biggie, always enjoy your content!

Same for me. I tried it on fallout and during the day it's fine, but when it's night time it will start messing up like that. Apparently it only happens when LSFG 2.1/2.0 is set and LSFG 1.0 comparatively doesn't really get the tearing in dark places, but 1.0 is worse off on latency.

@Dregomz025 ай бұрын
1) do you have a screen with freesync/gsync? if so then vsync should be disabled since you have VRR 2) it's better to lock your framerate to lowest average framerate otherwise your pacing will be all over the place, maybe lock it to 50-45fps and check if it doesn't drop further. PS game runs much more smooth on Xenia emulator (but it has more bugs) 3) 30fps will triple it to 90fps so it will feel much more smooth but nowhere near your monitor's refresh rate
