🌿🌸🌿 Hello This is Christy from Brussels. I enjoy these long video's so much. This way I can learn so much more, then the 15 min. see-and-forget-reels ! You have a pleasant voice and explain things very well. Thank you. I love your video's. Kind regards, Christy from Brussels 🌿🌸🌿

Oh Fulton, I need you to stop before I buy myself a 16 x 20 plate! lol. Obviously I’m joking but I adore all your videos. You have a calming way of being and your art is always stunning. I like how the first print ended up looking like four separate blocks and how using the same stencils and paints you get entirely different looks. I’m always reminded of Klimt when gold is used but illuminated manuscripts definitely fits! Honestly, after years of not creating, you and other artists have inspired me so so much. I’m very grateful and kind of wish I was still a NYer (always a NYer at heart though) so I could take you out for a coffee or dinner. In lieu of that, I’m going to your shop and seeing what I can acquire. I’m going to also need a bigger house for all the art I own and covet.

Thanks for your videos... I am watching them as part of my daily art routine. I am back in my studio after many years of exhausting my creative energy at work. Now, in retirement, I'm doing monoprints with the gel plate and reviving my art exploration. I appreciate your process and find it helpful since my previous art work was involved in objective realism and portraiture and now find myself doing nonobjective abstraction.

Nice prints! If you want to lift a fully dried ghost image but don't want to change that color, brayer on a thin layer of acrylic binder to lift that residual color. Very happy to see you have tried a metallic color.

@@allthumbs3792 I just read that Mod Podge is also a binder. I have some on hand and might try that, too, on small artifacts just to see if it helps grab artifacts. It's readily available here in the U.S.

Thank you for the wealth of experimentation and experience you are sending our way! I have learned so much from you already. I am also exploring gel plate monoprinting, but my primary interest is to produce textile prints that I can use in my art quilting. I wonder if you, or any of your audience, has any tips and pointers about printing on fabrics. I love your art, and it’s good that you remind us frequently not to copy, or I would copy you!

I know this is a rather old video, but I enjoy your laid back approach to your art. You tried out some Amsterdam paints and commented on the creaminess of the paint as opposed to some other brands. You also thought that they stayed ‘wet’ longer. I’m wondering g what your thoughts are on the Lukas paint? I have many of the brands available at the local store, as well as, Pebeo Artwza, and even a few Amsterdam colors. I think I would really like some of the Lukas colors, but I just wanted your opinion.
@artwhisperer884 ай бұрын
Hi Mary Ellen, Lukas is sort of a student grade paint ,but of good quality (made in Germany) and quite affordable. I purposely steer clear of expensive brands as I cannot afford them! There is no substitute of actual experimentation with different brands, as everyones tastes and objectives are different. Thanks for watching!

You are getting nice prints, bit it looks like the large format gel plate has a tendency to stretch and the rectangular shape kind of warps. Are you satisfied with that? Maybe if you lift the gel plate and push it back into place before printing it would help.
@artwhisperer88 Жыл бұрын
I'm not thrilled that the gelli plate is sort of a shape shifter, but I flip it over and use the B side every now and then. When I did that today I realized how beat up and discolored it is compared to the brand new ones! Thanks for your observations.

I don't agree with your false assumption that by using the same material you will get the same results. Experience tells me that that is not the case. I want my viewers to explore different materials and use what you have to create art, not have a slavish reliance on "recipes" or "magic formulas". To quote the famous artist and writer of The Art Spirit Robert Henri said that if you do this, you are a mechanic, not an artist!
