Service call came in for chiller down ac not cooling. Found York air cooled chiller tripping on low pressure switch for both compressors. Thankfully I was able to get it back online. Enjoy hvac technician and chiller tech.

Non ionizing radiation. The biggest issue would be "microwave heating" of human tissue. If you feel warm, move way from the antennas. Otherwise, you're almost certainly fine.

I worked for York/JCI for years as start up for years and did warranty work. I always carried those sensors in my truck. Actually you should be changing those on maintenance schedule on annuals. But don’t go past 3 years. They drift always. I retired March after 31 years in the Union. Good job

I work on condition space Chillers for 50 years. These are all chillers that were installed between 1948 and 1967. There were no VFDs or computer Logic on any of this equipment. All unloading was done by cyclinder solenoids and Penn Basso Micro Control pressure switches. The superheat was somewhere between 15 and 17 on these open drive compressors which the Penn Basso Micro Control pressure switches would load and unload the compressor. Everything was mechanical including the governor's that ran the 389 Chrysler Hemi engines running on natural gas When I left after retirement there were no techs that could use their iPhone to fix the Chillers. If there was a problem with the control circuitry I could start these chillers with a donut magnet on the liquid line solenoids until I could work on the 120 volt control circuits

Rooftop communication site - as long, as you don't walk in front of the antennas, you'll be okay. Those are directional panel antennas and radiate outwards only from the front, not the back. If you know, or see you are directly in front of one of these antennas, you should inform your customer, you need the contact number for the communication carrier and call to request a sector turn-down. You want to perform your job safely, carriers can and will turn-down sectors or the entire site for safety. Sometimes if you look around, you might find a placard that has the carrier name, site ID and a NOC (national observation center) number you can call. Stay safe.

I worked on chillers for years, and now retired. you can go into the processor logic functions and tell it to perform the logic functions from the entering chilled water side of the chiller, while you replace/ order new temp sensors for the leaving chilled water temp side of the chiller. we did this so the chiller would start/ run without false tripping. when johnson cotrols bought out york from borg/warner, they are terrible with technical support, and the reason is they want the service call!!!. we went with carrier equipment, dumping trane/ york systems, at least carrier will work with you when it comes to technical support.

We recently took over a building that Verizon and ATT use a antenna site. I had our boss require us to take the required RF/EME training and have an RF detector with us when we are there. They have a big label on the door to the roof that says its needed. I got equipment thats right infront of of the direction they are pointing. For me safety is a big concern, company wont care if I get disabled for life, they go hire someone else. Safety before work for me.

Years ago at a 400 ton air cooled carrier, screw chiller and the design engineer had multi loop variable drives on the pumps. It was in a school so we had anywhere from 10 ton air handlers to 40 ton air handlers that come online and go off-line the variable drives would slow down the flow when a large air handler started or shut down it would vary the flow Thats the same flow through the chiller so my chiller may be running at 200 tons of capacity and all the sudden we would shed 80 or hundred tons of load the pumps would slow down and the chiller would just go crazy! after a very long discussion with the young design engineer, we came up with a solution that wasn’t gonna kill my chiller not one that he liked.

Hi My air cooled York chiller compressor is tripping on current limit. The unit has 2 x compressors and bigger compressor having FLA 270A and is tripping on current limit. One thing I have observed that when ambient temperature crosses almost 38 C this issues appears. The set-point I have given is 9 so that 24 C temperature is maintained in 2 x floors of plant and it was working fine before.

Why do some compressors on drives like this one and on intelliPaks with variable speed compressors run such high frequencies?
@spikester
@spikester Жыл бұрын
Probably because the drive was retrofitted in after the fact vs. coming with the device as delivered, thats all I can think of, they can run some motors designed for 60hz line freq higher to increase RPM but it all has to be properly re-rated to handle such. There was a large transition period where vector drives were thrown in everything the moment costs came affordable.

I have worked with radios for wireless internet and those cell phone antennas are giving off a lot of radiation, think of a higher frequency than your microwave. Most of it will be facing away from the center of the roof, but the radiation comes around the edges like a bubble. I had heard of old-timers talking about finding bums getting warm by the radiation but killing them as it microwaves them from the inside out. I would get headaches when setting up the new 60Ghz radios (some of the 5G is 58Ghz). Long-term exposure is something they do not talk about and just push the "5G will make your life better" despite the 4G/LTE is still plenty fast and capable for years.
