The plaintiff says the defendant is his lying ex-girlfriend, and she owes him money. He’s suing her for what he’s owed. The defendant says she and the plaintiff went on vacation and he paid for it, but now that they’ve split up, he’s claiming it was a loan. She’s countersuing for rent, utilities, and gas bills.

This is the most bitter dude I’ve ever seen . He even said at the end that it wasn’t about the money . He was obviously trying to get back at her since things ended & him texting consistently wasn’t working so he had to get her attention another way . Then when she denied him , he starts taking digs at her talking about her “drinking” etc . Yet I bet if she called him the next day he’d want get back together with her in a heartbeat . I definitely believe her when she said he was putting things in her head & words in her mouth . He was bold face lying to the judge when the texts shown otherwise .

Look, I met my husband (1 year anniversary soon, but together 14 years) online but I still don’t think most people are good at navigating online dating so I wouldn’t recommend it at all for the average person. Just as I wouldn’t recommend someone meeting people to ‘date’ at a club. It may work out for a few unicorns, but as a whole it’s just not a good way to meet people looking for something serious or finding people serious about a relationship. I fielded many creeps who wanted to treat me as a sex object shifting through online dating.

This is exactly why I threw the towel in on online dating/Tinder/Bumble. It's exactly what you get - the people you meet are some combination of a clinger, drunk, drug user, broke as f**k, terrible credit, more likely than not quite overweight, and my personal favourite when you ask about work - taking time off to take care of my parents at home. Yup. I had the same experience. Nothing but fat single moms, over 30, with different baby daddies, on government assistance, but looking for men in shape, with a high-paying job, willing to wine and dine them. It was weird to see grown-ass women with bunny ears looking for "mature men." Every one of their pictures was filtered like crazy, but they want "genuine men." And my favorite recurring line was "F*#$ you if you don't like thicc women." That meant "it's easier to insult you for not being attracted to obese women, than it is to get a gym membership and work out every day." That experience cemented my desire to avoid online dating completely.

I kind of question the check as it's just a photo copy. The memo line could be faked by her since the judge is seeing only a copy that isn't even in color.

Unless you do a remote deposit through your mobile device, you don't keep or get back the original check. The most you can get is a digital copy (always b/w and purposefully grainy) that was scanned by the bank or ATM at the time of deposit. Not saying that image can't be messed with (although it would take pretty good forgery skills), but a judge wouldn't have a problem accepting a printout of a cancelled check as evidence.
