My doctor won’t prescribe triptan only anti depressants for migraine sensitivity to artificial lights very frustrating. I want to try it. They won’t prescribe just because I have history of asthma even though it went away over a decade ago.

I’ve been dealing with debilitating migraines since I was in my early twenties. My doctors throughout the years never took me seriously, but thankfully a neurologist I recently saw prescribed me sumatriptan. The pain disappears within 30mins of taking it. My life is changed.

So cool Nothing worked for me but sumatriptan did. Its a miracle in my eyes! I have suffered with migraines since the age of 14. I am 30 now. Tried everything nothing ever worked but finally after years of pains one little pill worked. Thank god i dont have many side effects just a little pressure in my face and warm chest. My migraines are so bad i throw up I can't function I literally want to tear my eyes out. Lasts 2-3 days at minimum:( Aah so relieved:) thank god for this whomever came up with this med may god bless u❤

When I discovered Naratriptan it felt like a freaking miracle. I also get very very very sick when my migraines hit. Vomiting every couple of minutes and puking so hard with nothing coming out that I'd suddenly begin sweating and become SO WARM. I would fall backwards and lay on the floor heaving for breath. My husband got so scared he almost called an ambulance but ran to the pharmacy instead first and asked them for something for a migraine that wasnt normal "Migraine pills" you know the normal paracetamol(Tylenol) and caffeine ones. And she gave him a box with two tiny pills and said to take one and if not gone in 4 hours take the other. He also gave me stuff for puking. I took both, got knocked out for a good four hours, and woke up tip-top and pain-free. I cried from the relief i felt. My attacks would last for DAYS. I kept that second pill close by and when my next attack started I popped it and within an hour it was over. Triptans are a literal godsend for me.

This tablet is a life saver for me I used to end up hospitalised multiple times put in if drips morphine vomiting fainting with migraines this has allowed some level of existence despite the side effects

Whoever came up with Triptans is a medical genius and deserves rewards for improving quality of life all around the globe. I'm 24 with frequent headaches/migraines. My doctor prescribed me with Rizatriptan that I am only allowed to take if normal pain killers don't relieve the pain in the span of a few hours. Literal lifesaver. I have a headache as I type this, I took a triptan and let it melt on my tongue and I can already feel ever so slight improvements despite my intake just a few minutes ago and at this rate it'll be gone in about 30 mins.

i never herd any one who had attack who last that long (realy 7- to 10 hours) i suffer CH since 12 years .they last betwen 30 min. to 3.5 hours you could use taro-sumatriptan injection 6mg/0.5ml or /and zomig nazal spray zolmitriptan nasal spray 5mg

Must be nice. Been having migraines since 17 and I've tried using both sumatriptin and rizatriptin. Got a new dosage to try sumatriptin again (50 mlg) and rn my throat hurts and my migraine is still present. Y'all are lucky it works for you T^T

I take it hormonal migraines. i get migraines either before,during or after periods. Takes a full day to work..

For me I tried to think about what happened before I got it, and write it down in a journal. Might be something with the tightness of the neck when I sit crouched a lot. Or it can be alcohol, smoke, pollution, stress, loud noises, bright light (I think I get less migraines when wearing sunglasses) I have had Migraine in all those situations more often then if not in those situations. But I also get migraine out of nowhere, for example waking up from sleep. I also have adhd, so who knows right.

@@bertilhammar8825 Might be. I have all of those to :P I think there is some science that people with ADHD have more migraines. Might be some energy/dopamine thing. For me I am very hypersensitive (which some people with adhd are) and, like I said, I think I get migraine more when there is some strong/uncomfortable exposure of the senses. I think sunglasses, and noise canceling headphones help for me.

Same with me youre supposed to take a second pill after one hour and it actually worked an hour later on 2 pills 🤷🏻‍♀️

you should take triptan only and as soon as headache begins. (aura does not mean pain begins but it only indicates that pain will begin soon.) taking pill before pain begins will not work let the pain start

ty who found this medication... i tried one of these today. goodbye to painkiller spam. i hope... and migrane headache worst headace ever. its like endless icecream headache. i yawn a lot before it coming. then cluster/migrane headache starts. i dont have aura but. i cant use my effected eyes properly. not have a choice but painkiller spams which is not health my plan is . when migrane attack comes i just took 1 one these for passing the strom.

I was given sumatriptan in the e.r. and have to say that is one scary medicine. It felt like someone sat on my chest for about 30 seconds. I also have asthma but I wonder does this also happen to anyone taking this?

I was on sumatriptan for about 5 years before it became less effective and I was switched to rizatriptan. For both triptan medications I experienced that chest pressure you described.

@KB-90 I am now taking Nortriptyline once daily and Fioricet as needed for pain. Once you start taking Nortriptyline you can not suddenly stop, or forget to take it, you will get bad withdrawal symptoms and migrains will start up again, but it does help reduce the number of migraines for me. Fiorecet is great, but it can be very addicting. When I started taking it, I needed to take 2 caps every 4 to 6 hours due to the severety of the pain. Then, once Nortriptyline kicked in , I was able to tapper down on Fiorecet.

I have the same :'( at the moment i have 17 days migraine in a row. I started taking triptans half a year ago. You should stick with 10 triptan days a months but lately i have many more migraine days. Now I take at least 20 days a month triptan. But i have no choice. My migraines are very intense. No painkillers help me and sleeping is impossible
