Also Trisha: "It's so disgusting to be like 'Get diagnosed first.' [...] I don't need to go into detail with what I talk about with doctors" -- after making a video claiming to have an incredibly serious mental disorder that requires a good bit of theraputic work to cope with it successfully. Honestly, her irrational, barely-coherent lashing-out at the slightest hint of criticism. especially since she's even trying to play the martyr, comes across like basic narcissism. Instead of entering into an honest conversation with people like Nin (DissociaDID), who respectfully took issue with her facts (and not her as a person), she's trying to keep the focus completely on herself. Which, ironically, only makes her look that much worse.

One cannot simply self diagnose themselves with a disorder WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT THAT DISORDER IS. She spent a few minutes in her video blaming her shitty behavior on her alters, while claiming her alters are her fragments of her personality rather than each of them having their own personality. This is clue number 1 and 2. She then talks about how she doesn't switch, then contradicts herself a few minutes later. Clue 3. She doesn't have DID, she has BPD, she's got borderline personality disorder which HAS been OFFICIALLY diagnosed. The key characteristics of BPD are a lack of feeling like you belong, and a lack of sense of self. This means people with BPD are desperate to find a place they belong, thus making them try to latch onto groups of people and try to claim they identify with those groups. She did it with Trans people and is doing it with people with DID. She needs help.

This is basically how everyone's saying they have OCD when doing ridiculous things, and whenever someone says that OCD isn't something fun and quirky like liking satisfying videos, patterns and being clean, you'll get immediately attacked by a lot of people saying it's "just a joke", "it's just a trend" and that "everyone else does it". I mean, yes, please make fun of my disorder that makes me have the worst thoughts you could ever imagine, that makes me feel like nothing is going to be alright again and that gives me such extreme panic DAILY.
@danielleleonard3054 жыл бұрын
Em Å I’ve been mocked a couple times, even by people who’ve said they had OCD too saying that OCD is just an inconvenience. Perhaps if you have mild OCD, I suppose you could describe it as a mild inconvenience. But what people often fail to understand is that your experience is not the same as everyone else’s. From what you’ve briefly described, it seems like you suffer with similar types of “evil” etc thoughts that I had growing up. Obviously I’m not a doctor and there is no cure all and this isn’t always the answer, but I did just want to share a small, way oversimplified piece of advice in case it by some miracle helps you at all.... I stopped trying to out “logic” my OCD. I stopped trying to justify and create reasons why they just simply couldn’t be legitimate thoughts. I stopped trying to differentiate between logical thoughts and obsessive thoughts. Why I kind of did was at first, try to talk over my mind with a simple word if a thought started to bother me. Usually something like “stop”. When a thought bothered me, I would yell “ STOP. STOP. STOP.” As loudly as I could over the thoughts continuously in my head. I would tell myself it doesnt matter if theyre logical thoughts. They bother me, so I will make them stop now. Then... I would allow myself to say hm... sure I could do the awful thing, but thats just too much effort. And somehow, over the years, that complete acceptance has made the awful thoughts lessen. I know this obviously wouldnt work for everyone, and quite obviously ive oversimplified, but I hope maybe my experience can help you just a smidgen. I still struggle a ton, but it doesn’t destroy my life the way it did when I was a kid.

@@danielleleonard305 I am so sorry, I didn't see your reply before now. That's some great advice! I usually just ride it out, since I know that once it "passes" I will see how illogical those intrusive thoughts were. But some things might take a couple of minutes to pass, and some things might take days or weeks to properly pass. During those times it's usually constant panic, dread and an anxiety that goes much higher than "normal" anxiety.
@beeoutofthebox69424 жыл бұрын
I have pure ocd and it used to be much more severe to the point where I would not be able to go 5 minutes without running in a panic to my mother to “confess” the things that I thought I would do. I was in constant distress and literally thought that I would kill myself, someone else, and do many other things that I would never do in real life. It would always frustrate me when people would fix something like a crooked painting and then say like, “haha I’m so ocd!” OCD literally made every moment of my life distressing and combined with other trauma/ possible ptsd was overwhelming for me. I’m happy to say that after 4 years I’m finally almost to the point where I can go a whole week without “confessing” to someone and that my intrusive thoughts are going down a lot.

I dont agree with anything else she said but she's right about that. It's tiring when you can't afford the expensive treatments/services in the world of psychology or there exists no specialist in your disorder near you and all you have is a self-diagnosis. Then there are doctors who are bad at their jobs and give you a misdiagnosis multiple times. I remember having 3 psychiatrists tell me that I was not depressed but just lazy before having one who finally listened and understood what I was and how to fix it. I would still be depressed if I acted based on what the other 3 told me.

Alex But She has more than enough money and resources-even just free basic online research that she could use and she chooses not to and then doubles down on vague self-diagnoses. The problem is more that she *could* get a diagnosis at any time if she wanted to because she’s richer than many people who suffer while living under low-income homes. It’s ridiculous.

Hi! Psych grad student here! So there’s actually a term for what this is: self-monitoring. This refers to how people respond and interpret social situations. People typically are high self monitors or low self monitors. A high self monitor is someone who tends to change how they act depending on who they are with (adapting a personality to fit social cues). They may express views and traits different from how they truly feel at the core when alone. They are like “social chameleons” , if you will. Low self monitors are the opposite. They will use their inner beliefs and thoughts to guide their actions regardless of who they are with. They may be less in tune with some social cues. Self monitoring is on a spectrum from high to low and it’s simply an aspect of our individual personalities (you can take tests online to see where you lie :) )It is NOT a mental illness-something as simple as being a high self monitor should not be twisted for views. Do not self diagnose to be “quirky” you are the worst!

I am a second year Psychology student and the thing were she says she has DID because she acts differently around different people is literally just functionalism. In Psychology a doctor William James, he was inspired by Charles Darwin, he created the theory of functionalism, which is how people and animals change their behavior depending on their surroundings in order to survive. There's also the sociocultural perspective that is the perspective about how humans act differently depending on the different cultures, people, and groups around them. Trisha these things aren't new we all experience them. Stop trying to throw a pity party for yourself, and open a psychology book instead because this isn't about how Anthony isn't believing your problems this is about you spreading misinformation about a disorder that is very serious many people suffer from it and its because of the worst reasons. DID forms because of childhood trauma you literally fucking called a person, that suffered with so much childhood trauma that the only means to survive that they had was to disassociate themselves, crazy . Stop spreading misinformation take down the video, apologize, because this is so wrong in so many ways.

I don’t understand how people like Shane Dawson, Who is a major advocate for the mental health community, continues to be friends with her when she is constantly using mental illness to her advantage and won’t take it seriously enough to go get diagnosed. Like hun, when I think I have an issue I go get it confirmed so I can then work to fix it (whether it be regarding my health or a plumbing issue). If she has any form of mental disorder go get Therapy and make your life better. I just don’t understand why people who deal with their own mental health and are advocates for mental heath would continue to be friends with her. Holy hell! I did not expect this many likes~ I checked yesterday’s comments and it was at 30 likes and then today I got a notification and saw 1.5K!!! 😭😱 Thank you! Also, thank you all so much for being involved in the Mental Health community. That fact this has started a discussion shows that while we may have different viewpoints on this we all care about mental health! So thanks to everyone for contributing! 👊🏻👊🏼👊🏽👊🏾👊🏿🧠❤️ Also also, I in no way mean to question Shane’s right to pick his own friends as I don’t know him and it’s not my business, however when on a platform where you are looked up to by others and are an advocate for something, I think it’s important to make clear who you support and condone based off of their behavior and actions. In this case, because Shane is an advocate for mental health, to continue a friendship with someone who (I dare say) abuses the community and system for attention/pity consistently is a disservice to the people who look up to him for guidance as he does not /hasn’t condoned this behavior publicly thus showing his audience that this behavior is not ok.
