My friend Tom, or Toreos, as he once told me his real name, is from Tristan Da Cunha, he came over to England in the 1960`s when the volcano erupted and he stayed here. He paints amazing pictures of rugged rocks and wild oceans 🕊

I've become slightly obsessed by this island community and watch everything I can get hold of. This allowed a wonderful insight into the nature and scale of Tristan. Many thanks for the song and for the posting. My first encounter was through a marvellous work-in-progress documentary here on KZbin called The Tristan de Cunha project. Sadly, this film has been withdrawn. If anyone knows where, or rather if it can be found I would be soooo grateful. Edinburgh of the Seven Seas is number one on my bucket list! It's incredible! It looks as though this could be a tiny village in Scotland, Wales, Cornwall or Ireland that's just a few hours via roads/ferries to the nearest town and maybe no more than half a day's drive from a major city! Yet, it's in the South Atlantic actually 3 times farther away from even St. Helena than the entire length of the island of Great Britain. Thanks for this!

It’s about time the UK Government invested in giving the Island some decent roads. All the money they waste from the Foreign Aid budget on giving it to countries that don’t need it, it’s about time we looked after our own people. If we can give St Helena an airport, we can certainly give Tristan decent roads and a better port/harbour.
