The reaction everyone was waiting for!! The song is soooo good!! It's interesting that you mentioned the eighties, because for me it felt more 90s, but after all both decades are kinda similar, the 90s take a lot of inspiration from the 80s, it's like a continuation melt with an evolution. (And it's totally what this song feels comparing to the whole SOUR album). I totally agree about her maturity, her voice, the lyrics, and even the music video... We're really entering in a new era for her and I'm so excited! I also like that she didn't change completely what makes her, her. Like the music, the way it begins very slowly, it's always very light to then go hard on the chorus. For the lyrics, I wouldn't say it feels less personal than SOUR, but more metaphorical, and if the album has the same vibe, I think it can be better than SOUR!

I’m glad I was finally able to listen to the full thing! She has a very smoky tone that I really enjoy. It’s so much different than what I had though it would be. It was much better than the snippets we were showed. I’ve been listening to a lot of alternative artists lately - my favorite being Medium Build (real name is Nick Carpenter). Great artist who writes honest music and sings with presence. I highly recommend you check out his live performance of I Never Learned to Dance.

I love how this song is built up from the beginning to the end. Started with whispering and soft melody then kicked up with pop rock and some retro into it. Olivia gives punch everytime on the high notes which showcases her vocal. She sings like pulling a string, sometimes she pulls sometimes she let it go.
