When I listen to her sing, I think of melted dark chocolate. I don't know how else to explain what her voice sounds like. It's so rich and full and almost jarring to hear (in a good way) because she's so in control of her tone and raspiness.

I’ve followed her for a while. While everyone is talking about how dramatically her stage presence has improved (which it has... this is how you take criticism and run with it), her voice has always been good. But I’m sure she got more lessons before this last album release because I’ve noticed her voice is doing more of these flips and tricks. She’s always had this thing she does when she hits higher notes where her voice kind of squeaks/cracks at the end... you can hear it in “Be The One” towards the end and a lot on “Cool” with the newest album. It’s almost like the shout thing you were talking about.

@@ThePolypam Well, it depends on the type of music. She's know as a pop/dance music singer, so there's a bit of an expectation that she move some on stage. She doesn't have to do full on choreo like Beyonce or Brittany, but at least make me believe that your music makes you want to move too. The more dancers you have on stage, the less you have to do it, but you've gotta move some, or have a surrogate like Sia does

I saw dua live in 2017 at a small venue when she was coming up in America but still low key. She had a cold and she still sounded amazing. She’s only gotten better over the years and I can’t wait to be able to see her live again hopefully soon cuz the show I went to, she only had her first album out & nothing else😭 now she has a whole other album and a bunch of collabs and singles. Love her

"Did she always used to be this good?" To be honest, I really don't know but I have followed her enough to really like her. Her voice is very different, the fact that she's really gorgeous and has a deeper voice than what you hear from most artist just sets her apart. AND THEN you hear her break apart her songs and create the versions she came out in Tiny Desk just makes you like her songs more.
