FYI: you used your laser with the excavator on the shed pad you built for us. We have the 16x20 shed being built now and the pad was perfectly level. The carpenters were really happy. Thanks again Sam!!!

Yep, actually, I think your pad was the first I used that new Trimble Earthworks system on. Glad they were pleased with it. Thanks

I just bought a RL-SV2S today, so I wanted to watch a video about it. You have a similar sized excavator to what I have, but we have a lot more in common. I was so encouraged when you shared your faith in Christ. I was debating between a couple of lasers today and was silently praying for wisdom when the salesman lowered the price and then showed me some features that convinced me that this was the laser that would be best. My old laser was out of calibration when I checked it before starting the job, and it is a cheap David White, so I decided it was time to upgrade and my local dealer had this on hand. Thank you for showing your grade equipment, but also for shining the light of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His word keeps us on grade in life.

Yes Sir and thank you! The topcon laser is great and I really like it. I believe you will like it a lot. I appreciate you supporting the channel and glad you enjoyed the message. That was a cool way you said that about His word keeping us on grade in life. Stay tuned, because that will be a message in an upcoming video! We'll said...😁 God Bless, Sam

What a great devotional. Thank you. What an ending. You might have to get a bigger dozer for the grandson and diesel both to ride in. I forgot all you said about that laser when that grandson came on .

Mike, thanks for watching and commenting. I will let my wife know your suggestion on the dozer because I agree. Yep, that was a good video Ashley did with Henry. Made our eyes leak a little bit!

What a great humble video…. I’m trying to switch over from my desk job to small excavation at age 50… I’m tired of big corporate bs…. Would like to learn as much as I can on small jobs so that two years from now I can go full time ..

Check out the video "How I Bid Excavation Jobs," some relevant info in that video that I have learned. I'm just about 3 years into full-time excavation work and love it. I look at every job as a learning experience. Honestly, I watched and continue to watch a lot of KZbin to learn how other folks do dirt work. Especially pond work, which I really enjoy doing. In my videos, I try to explain what I'm doing and why I am doing it. I wish you the best, nothing like working for yourself. If I can help you in any way, just give me a shout! Thanks for watching and commenting, which helps the channel grow. God Bless, Sam

Got my certificate to get my septic license today been in class last three days. I need to purchase some laser equipment soon I reckon. Thanks for the video. I know it’s an older one I’m just getting around to but thanks. I’m gonna watch the tremble video again now. I just don’t know if I can swing that much for it right now.

When you get time can you go over and tell about and show us how you have your Ram 5500 tow rig set up? Thanks Robert PS I have a Ram 2500 now but I am looking at getting a 5500 to tow my Kubota U55-5 mini excavator and 75-2 skid steer.
@tristardiggin2 жыл бұрын
Will do. The Ram 5500 is an absolute beast pulling equipment. Terrible fuel mileage is the trade off though. Thanks for watching and commenting....
@rw246812 жыл бұрын
@@tristardiggin I am getting around 10mpg with my 2500 pulling my excavator that weights about 14k and the trailer is around 6k.
@tristardiggin2 жыл бұрын
I'm getting around 8 and sometimes less loaded with the skid steer and mini x. It has a 488 rear end, which adds a lot of pulling power but pitiful fuel mileage...
@rw246812 жыл бұрын
@@tristardiggin that's not to bad for pulling 2 pieces of equipment. My 2500 has 3.42 gears and only getting around 10 mpg on pretty flat ground here in Central Louisiana.

Really enjoying your videos. I am in the process of purchasing a CAT 306 and I am interested in the Trimble Earthworks. Do you have any more specific information on the exact system that you are running? I will be installing septic systems primarily, and I feel like this version of Trimble Earthworks would be more than sufficient. I wanted to get your thoughts on it? Thanks!
@tristardiggin6 ай бұрын
Hey Austin, I appreciate you watching and supporting the channel. You will love Trimble Earthworks. It is a time saver and works really well. I have two recent videos installing septic systems using the 304 and Trimble. Also there are random videos using Trimble as well. As far as I known there is just the one version of Trimble for excavators. But you can get a 2D system, which I have, or 3D GPS. The 2D system works great for me because I don’t do any jobs where there are engineered plans. Hope that helps…

Do you recommend the Topcon Sv2s for digging basements, crawl spaces, ponds, laying brick for a foundation, prepping for concrete pads, and for laying pipe on a slope etc…? Can the SV2s be mounted to an excavator bucket ? If not the sv2s which setup do you suggest? Other than tremble earthworks of course lol
@tristardiggin2 жыл бұрын
Go ahead 🤪and get the Trimble😁! Sidenote, it is amazing!!! So, if you don't need the digital (programable) slope settings you can go with the RLH5A. It has manual slope abilities and is half the price of the SV2s. If you just need single slope on a jobsite you could use the SV1S. It cost a little less than the SV2s but not much less. That's why I went ahead with the dual slope SV2s. As far as sticking a receiver on the excavator you could use the Spectra receiver I showed in the first part of the video. It isn't a part of the topcon package it was a separate purchase. However, the Spectra receiver will work with a lot of different brand rotary lasers. In summary if most of what you need is just a flat level area and occasionally need a single slope I would go with the RLH5A with manual slope settings and the Spectra, or some other brand, receiver you can stick to the excavator, it uses strong magnets. I hope that is some help to you. If you have any questions just let me know... Thanks, Sam

It was a little over 20,000 at the time I bought it. I'm sure like everything else; it has gone up some. Expensive up front, but over the life of the machine, it isn't bad. I always work by myself, and it is nice to have it...

Have fun with your grandson he will be operating your 259 D before you know it. You should get a GPS tracker and put it on your laser
@tristardiggin2 жыл бұрын
Can't wait until he is old enough to start operating the CAT's. GPS is a great idea, but slowing down and paying attention to what I am doing might help a little too 😉 😃. Thanks John for watching and commenting!
@johnprue2 жыл бұрын
@@tristardiggin What I meant was the GPS tracker is in case the laser disappears or gets stolen so you can find it
