Amphetamines are one of the worst drugs out there. They remove your sense of guilt while giving you a feeling you are connected to the divine/universe. They were used by Nazis in WWII to stay awake (Pervitin) during extensive battles and Hitler's doctor gave it to him as mood control (among 80+ drugs he was giving him including daily Cocaine rinses for his sinuses!) I believe there would be no WWII if that doctor didn't blast that SOB with all that. ISIL uses it all the time (Captagon) for their fighters and for the people they behead/capture (that is why they are always eerily calm). It sounds like a conspiracy theory but it really isn't it is a fact.

This is barely specious horseshit. Part of what made Cruise so outspoken back then was due to his fame, part of it was that he had hired family to handle publicity and part of it was that his kook religion began to treat him as a kind of avatar, near the same level of authority as the church's founder, and current leader. Ya’ll just think he’s crazy because he’s a scientologist.

You're interpreting what Tom said and making it into a reasonable statement. What he actually said is "psychiatry is a pseudoscience" and that every prescription drug is bad for everyone. Drugs are very beneficial to certain people and they are detrimental to others. I agree that lots of mental issues can be managed with diligent self-care that doesn't include a prescription, that's how I deal with my anxiety and depression (some days I do better than other days). But to say that medications and therapy are never part of the solution for anyone is a silly over-simplification.

SSRI's have tremendously improved the lives of 2 people i'm close to. The fact that they didn't work for you and me doesn't make them ineffective altogether. We can't apply what works for one person to everyone. There are lots of avenues to relative mental stability, we just have to find the one that works for us individually. To say that all psychiatry, psychology and psychopharmacology is good is just as bad as dismissing it, or as in Cruise's case, condemning it as somehow nefarious and evil. The problem with Cruise's argument here is that he focused on the history of psychiatry, which is useless. It's like saying going to the toilet is bad because we used to have to shit in a hole in the ground. Or that conventional medicine is bad because of leeches. When he says that people receive ECT against their will, he is being disingenuous. Likewise with children being administered pharmaceuticals. If we decided one day to stop medicating every person with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder etc. the world would be a far worse place to live in very quickly. When I see a celebrity move out of their lane and the person across from them is not prepared to play the sycophant, I have to admit that I love it. The best example is Ben Affleck and Sam Harris. As soon as Affleck jumped out of his lane, he was out of his depth. You can tell, for years and years these people are surrounded by idiots who hang off their every word. But up against someone with a bigger brain and zero interest in stardom, they are stranded.

I remember this time I dont know why cruise went nuts all over the place . Spielberg must have been pissed that he was going on shows being a nutcase & it was over shadowing the press of the movie. Cruise career survived this which is amazing. I thought he was awesome in that movie with jamie Foxx playing against type a badass sociopathic murderer. I really loved him in that . He also was great in tropic thunder. He definitely is a good actor who deserved an oscar for one of his many roles like rain man, a few good men, the oliver stone movie eyes wide shut. I think its bc he was young & good looking he got passed over. It did not surprise me at all that matt Lauer was a pervert. He seemed creepy to me & was very smug in many interviews. How did ant know all about scientology? What's sad is all Anthony is saying is what these scientologists have to pay millions for and it takes forever. Literally all anthony said was told to leah remini after 25 years of studying spending 2 million dollars for & tons of books. She was thinking it was so ridiculous it was some sort of test to see if she would buy this crap. The way they became a religion to avoid paying taxes they did something really smart & ruthless they sued every i.r.s. agent and the i.r.s. as a whole & burying these people in paperwork that they called uncle and said we will give u the status of religion please drop all the lawsuits and they did & it worked. That was pretty brilliant . Did cruise not sleep for a few days hes got serious bags under his eyes. I did agree with tom.about doing blood tests and a full work up on someone to see how much ridilan or a anti depressant a person should have. A lot of doctors will just prescribe a dosage of an anti depressant like a one size fits all.

Not sure I'd go as far as 'amazing', but it's certainly a lot better than people give it credit for. Its depiction of an alien invasion is way more grounded and focused on the horror of it than most alien invasion movies, the means by which the aliens invade (giant tripod machines with lasers) are more original than spaceships, and it's surprisingly faithful to the book despite changing its setting from Victorian London to Present Day Boston. Where the movie falls down is the god awful Spielberg ending where the son miraculously survives, some rather gaping plot holes (how the hell does that car start when every other car in the world has been fried by the EMP?) and some dodgy dialogue (specfically, the singing) between him and his kids. If it weren't for those flaws it could be called 'amazing' imo.
