I was one of those very flexible people when I was younger. I was 6'2" and could kick 7' without much issue. Tae Kwan Do was one of my arts so I got good at them. Even at the pinnacle of my training, I knew to only go for a high kick if my opponent was stunned from another blow or very off balance. One good thing about being able to do high kicks is if your opponent comes up with mid to high kick, throw a high kick under his kick and make him fall backwards.

Front & side kicks are the only ones I really like for real combat... If you can use your shin the distance defeats the purpose of a kick.. Range.. Even low kicks you can snap your shin..

Yeah, I don't see the point in using it except to show off during tournaments or making movies. Just be simple. I would use mid-low kicks and use flying kicks when necessary. Thanks for sharing your insight. 🥋

One of the first things I learned in martial arts were some flashy kicks, now a bit over a decade after I only use them in sparring because...fun...and yet I've never thrown them with intention much or landed a single one in any of my mma fights LoL😅
