I appreciate your comment! I usually remember to move my microphone closer...but forgot this time. Lesson learned! Thanks for putting up with this *totally* amateur KZbinr.

Thanks, Jeremy. Another really useful lesson. I look forward to part two. Just to let you know incase you're not aware. The sound cuts out twice for about 30 seconds towards the end...... Once at 15:26 and again at 17:20.

Hi Jeremy! Great video. Two things though: 1. "Db mixo scale against G7" shouldn't it be a b7 rather then a 7. F note. 2. I think I know why you lose your sound in 2 spots. It is because you focused camera on the sheet only in those fragments of video and probably sound comes from the source the is set on you and that is why software cuts it. Maybe something in settings to be tweaked.

Great video! Actually I think that the Neapolitan chord takes that name only if it is used as a secondary dominant and not as a substitute for the dominant, but it's nice that you included it in the explaination.
@JeremySiskind
@JeremySiskind 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for that clarification! I think I understand the distinction. I think the tritone sub can be used in this way as well (although, I would actually think of it not so much as a "secondary dominant" but simply a dominant with a different color).

Fantastic lesson as always Jeremy, thank you so much. Might you consider ways to improve the audio of your voice? I ought not be listening on my tinny phone, but am hearing too much of the room and not enough of your pearls of wisdom!

Thanks, Julian! I really appreciate you saying this...and saying it so kindly. I try to remember to bring my microphone closer to me, but sometimes forget. If you have specific equipment or tips, I'm very happy to hear them. I always get the perfect set up...and then have some kind of audio crisis while I'm teaching live, change my set up and have to start all over. 😂 Such is life!

@@JeremySiskind Jeremy, what sort of mic are you using to record yourself? If your setup allows for two mics, you could clip on a lavelier mic for your vocal audio while having a different mic for the piano. If you want to stick with one mic, you could use an omnidirectional mic and just position it closer to you, because the piano is quite loud. A Zoom H4 or H6 would give you the ability to do this quite easily.

Hey Jeremy, if you find the lip of the fallboard annoying (for the view of your fingers), you could always remove it :) I have been digesting your videos... brilliant stuff - you deserve hundreds of thousands of views. And I've asked Santa for your books this Christmas!
