The Tritrix MTM DIY speakers from Parts Express designed by Curt Campbell sounds quite good, and the price? even better at only $229. It's not a complete kit as you still need to get screws, binding posts, and wires, as well as your desired finish, so price is just a bit higher, but it really does sound good if you're looking a speaker in the price range and you got a bit of time to spare. We compare it to the KEF LS50 and Elac Debut Reference DBR62 in the video to see how far or close it is, to the more well known speakers.

Nice comparison. I’ve been considering a project-style speaker addition myself but that instant gratification thing has kept me on the fence so far, so it’s nice to see it can be done to satisfaction. Thanks again.

I built these about a year ago, and I love them. The port tube should be set at 8.5" long. I adjusted mine to this length, and it made quite a bit of difference in the bass response. Give that a try.

Thank you for bringing this kit to mind, and your experience from beginning to end. Was curious about these, and a few other kits! You said a longer bass port (tube) would have helped with bass extension...how long would you say -or anyone else you know would say - in the tube length to go while not compromising tonal balance? Thanks again 🙏🏼

The recommended is 6.5" so maybe an inch longer depending on taste.

Hi and thanks! You say your Trixtrix does not have the expected bass extension, I didn't get why, could you tell more about it ?

hi What did you say about the bass port why it doesn't go down to 45

Thanks for watching. The port comes with a port extender and should be attached to have a total length of 7" I think. I haven't put it on which probably explains that lack of extension.

Dayton Audio is a great source/ supplier! Why no extension on the ports?..are you kicking yourself? Honestly...all your reviews make me want to buy a pair of KEF LS50 Metas and a pair of SVS 3000 Micro Subs! 🤑 It would be a nice "upgrade?" from my Monitor Audio Silver 100s & old Audio Engine 10” Sub, perhaps....not sure... I am a carpenter...but would not build this kit! 😂😂😂..it would be too much like work..... Thanks for your thoughtful review....👍🏼

I didnt test out the port extender, and already glued the port to the box, but the extender didn't fit the port lol. Couldve sanded down the tubes to make it fit if i tested it out earlier. re: ls50, if you can hear it first, try it out. Hard to recommend for someone if you dont know what gears they liked.

Nice job on the cabinets! Those drivers are very beginner and have high distortion. Check out the RS line of drivers from Part-Express ( Big step up ) and also take a look at the kits at Madisound.

Hexaudio with the driver upgrade would you have to change the crossover? Thx

@@jcowboy123 Yes, the crossover would need to be re-done but both companies have full kits.

There is a lot of mark up, most of the cost is marketing and r&d. yes you can build but designing one is a whole different ball game. I"m not handy enough to build one, but the solstice flat pack looked appealing.

Why is the sound secoundary ? Its the reason I have loudspeakrs to improve the sound quality, thats what HiFi is about. I use a HiFi System to listen to music and not music to listen to the gear. Its like a bought a house and garden with lawn so I can own a lawnmower and use it ;-)
