Had a similar issue with my Sprint ST 1050 and I know this is an old post but thought it might help someone. Every now and then especially when cold it would turn over, try to catch then cut out. Needles reset, waited a few seconds then tried again. Put battery on charge, same issue but did eventually start and run fine. Main dealer (where I bought it from) told me it was an issue with these Triumphs when the battery gets weak. Battery was tested and sure enough it was in the yellow - still working but on it's way out. Bought a new battery and now starts every time. If your battery is more than 5 years old I would recommend changing it.

I had the same symptoms, and it turned out to be a dirty clutch safety switch. Just peeled back the rubber cover and squirted some contact cleaner in the contacts. Works fine now.

If the air box has been removed check the vacuum hose that leads to the sensor has been reconnected as this would cause the problem shown in the video. I've run the bike with air box removed this causes the engine management light to stay on this can be reset through the ECU or allow the engine to go through 3 complete cycles from hot to cold the management system will recognise the error is no longer showing and the light will go out once riding.

Hopefully, you still read the comments. I had the same (or similar) issues with a Sprint 955i RS 2003. I had checked the valve clearances (which were in spec), replaced the rocker cover gasket and ladder seals (to fix an oil leak in the spark plug chamber 1), and spark plugs. The problem continued, with poor idle and often trying to cut out when disengaging the clutch. The fuel pump has now been replaced, and hoping this solves it, when I get time to fill her up with fresh fuel. As for the airbox - I have the large hose connected up, and a smaller hose on the left (underneath) that doesn't seem to connect to anything, and seems to kink very easily. It hasn't ever been attached to anything before. There is another hose, which is plastic, and looks the same as the ones that connect to the sensor inside the airbox - and that seems to come to the rear of the bike, through the left, to behind the engine - it isn't long enough to reach anything, and has also just sat there. I'm thinking that there's missing components on my bike.

Same problem? Have u figured it out? When it's warm No problems it's only when it's cold. I have the proper voltage needed in the low 13s and while it's running the voltage stays at the same levels?

Hello I own a 2009 triumph tiger 1050 similar to one I saw in your video but I’m experiencing a problem with my bike is there any chance that you can assist me if I explain what is happening to it? Also my biggest problem is that I live in the Caribbean and and there are no triumph dealerships so it makes it even more difficult to solve the issue

I've sold this bike over 3 years ago now so I would probably no good at resolving your issue, sorry.

Thats not the battery. You can hear the battery has plenty of charge, spinning the starter over very quick. Nothing to do with the battery thats for sure. What did you work out the problem was? Sounds like its just flooded to me.

I've now got the bike engine back from the triumph dealer , fitted the engine back into frame myself, now running well, put oil in approx 5L semi synthetic make sure and fill water into radiator, sensor in rad won't let bike start. a thing I forgot to do was the water nearly seized the dam thing and the engine only built. looking back now could have been the clutch since now my cable clutch broke yday since clutch needs to be in when starting, could be the electrical connection to the clutch. could be the side stand connection, battery needs to be above 12.4v for engine to start. battery should be 14.4v when running to prove bike is charging battery, means regulator is working also. bike now starting first time every time. Got the engine completely rebuilt with valves reset, new oil value stem seal heads, shim replaced under main crank at bottom of engine. cost a lot of money two days work at $55 per hr and gasket set at $400

sorry for not getting back to you, I took the bike apart and left with the n Ireland triumph dealer, problem was he kept it from July 16 to December 16, due to get it back 19/12/16, broken down to the crankshaft worn shim holding crankshaft in place
