I was playing in a small traveling bar band ,and playing a week long gig at the old now ,long gone, Peter Pan in New Glasgow NS . around 1977. I was only 18 at the time under age .lol Triumph was playing the Stadium in New Glasgow, on one of those nights. I had developed a severe case of laryngitis and as the lead singer I was having a nightmare of a night. The whole Band was. .All of a sudden Gil Moore , the drummer and singer from Triumph appeared in the dark bar . Triumph were staying at the the same motel with the bar we were playing at. They had just finished their show. Seeing my struggle, Gil offered kindly to finish the last 2 sets for me as leed vocalist and our drummer gladly gave up his throne. I was totally floored ! While the remaining band followed , Gil proceeded to blow the doors of the place, much to the delight of the patrons and us. After, I felt even when I did get my voice back , I would never sing again. The guy was a God !. I thanked him for his generosity and wonderful gift to me. I told him how I loved his voice ,however I never thought to ask for an autograph. I had never met him before or contacted him since . I followed his career at Metal Works and with Triumph . I have always remained a part time musician throughout my 65 years, but I will never forget that night. I doubt you remember me Gil , but thank you again for you help ,generosity and kindness, from a then 18 year old wannabe rock star in New Glasgow NS.

Many groups either loved the Spectrum or hated it. The ones who gave us our moneys worth; they loved Philly and we loved them. I recall Iron Maiden in 1986...they did 3 or 4 encores and that place went nuts. The Spectrum had great sight lines and most importantly, she had a Spirit about her. Hockey teams and basketball teams did not like to come in to that building. My fondest memory was 1976 when the Broad Street Bullies kicked the shit out of the Russian Army team. That was legendary! We loved Triumph, Rush, Yes, Maiden, Megadeth, Blue Oyster Cult and many others because, they left nothing on that stage after their shows. They knew that we in Philly can tell when somebody was just mailing it in.

However Rik has a good presence here on YT and he shows a lot of wisdom for young (and old) musicians that we can take to heart. He is happy and very much keeping his music alive. Saw them on the SoK tour in Texas in the early 80's and will never forget it. Incredible show.
