This week covers fitting a part integral to desert racing, not only integral but also well documented and period correct. Something to help me squeeze that power into a more useable range..
I also reproduce some 5ta/3ta Triumph seat hinges using the forge and solve my wobbly seat problem that has plagued me since i built the bike.
However not everything is smooth sailing, i think we might have a BIG problem..

Great work as ever Will, interesting to see the forge fired up. Rivnuts are a staple in my day job of fixing aircraft, found in many places and definitely handy for bikes too! Best wishes, Dean in Oxfordshire.

Thanks Dean! It has really been some time since I used it, out of practice and out of shape! I think I will be using them a lot more! Will

John Hemming in Shropshire would make you those. Used to work or Super Sprox. That's what he does, small runs, one offs

Interesting video with good information! One note, though: The chain connecting link clip appeared to be fitted the wrong way when you removed it - closed end should point in the direction of rotation. With the open end pointing in the direction of rotation, you stand a real risk of losing the clip.

Thanks mate appreciate it, yes you're right! If you watch the footage back when I release it the split link spins round and makes it look as if its the wrong way round!

Great work. Can you adjust the shock preload for better traction?
@ColemanCustoms

Cheers mate! These shocks are pretty limited on adjustment but I am giving them a little fettle to see if I can improve them, wise thinking bud!

This is a shit hot bike mate, as you probably know lol. Have you tried experimenting with tyre pressures for traction? The trials tyres will take it, and give a good boost to grip, rim lock permitting. This is inspiring me to get stuck into my Z440 scrambler build.

Thanks pal appreciate it! I have and it is better but I'm still having issues, more with the front end washing out! The back soon follows.. Very scary! Ha, I'd love to see the 440 build I am a huge fan of them and have a scrambler version myself!

@@ColemanCustoms - not seen anything of your 440 scrambler, have you featured it at all? Enjoyed your budget scrambler series - great aesthetics!

Not as of yet, it will be out for some greenlaning at some point! It makes a small appearance in the chopper tour video, it's also on my Instagram @coleman__customs if you fancy a peak!

Use a razor blade and cut your own tread pattern ,on the back tyre , flat track guys in the 50s 60s did this, I have done it on my Triumph , but once you have done it, DO not use it on the roads,
@ColemanCustoms
@ColemanCustoms 3 жыл бұрын
Ahh yes I have had to do this before, nice soft mx tyres are easy to do but I have struggled with the harder compounds. I know they do a heated blade now specifically for this but have no experience with those, what triumph have you got?
