Guess who went to see Triumph the same day she got out of the hospital from a tonsillectomy? This 17 year old (1983). Guess who got re-admitted to the hospital directly after the concert due to bleeding and a severely swollen throat? Yup and it was totally worth it!

Yep you got some lead singers that you know they play rhythm guitar, they might be a decent singer but they're mediocre at the guitar, or they might be a mediocre singer and halfway decent on the guitar, it's super rare to find somebody that can nail them both Rik Emmett does that.

Triumph is one of the most underrated rock bands to ever come out of Canada. They are right there with Rush. Why they are not in the Hall of Fame is an embarrassment to Rock music. Rick Emmet isThe most underrated guitarist ever. I have not seen them in concert but wished I could see them do Magic Power. Rick sings his heart out for their music. It comes out in this song. Thanks for Lay it on the line and Fight the Good Fight! It is great to see some 20 somethings enjoying and appreciating their talents of this power trio. Energy should have been the Band title.

I saw Triumph play to a half empty Baltimore Civic Center back in the '80's during a near blizzard. We thought for sure the show would be cancelled, but the band said since we were all there, the show will go on. And what a show it was. Hard to believe it was only three guys on stage making all of this sound. Killer light show too! (By the way, when the show was over and we walked outside the snow was crazy! What normally took a 45 minute drive home took close to four hours. Another one of 'those shows' I'll never forget.)

I'm a Texan and Triumph is my favorite rock band. I saw them in Dallas at Reunion Arena 3 times in the 80's. Such positive uplifting music. Saw Rik Emmett in '09 in Houston playing acoustic at a supper club with Dave Dunlop. Had the pleasure of meeting him. Such a gentleman. Fight the Good Fight, well the title says it all. So many awesome songs. Two that touched my heart the most that I've never heard on the radio back in the day. Ordinary Man and Just a Game.

April Wine & Triumph were my HS rock bands of choice, I had tended to gravitate to the lessor played bands. Never knew in HS that the majority of bands I liked were Canuck bands in those days. April Wine was my first concert in So Cal in 82 - it was fire! Best concert ever! Triumph was the 3rd top billed band at the US Festival in 83. There were 8 Rock/Heavy Metal bands that played in one day. Triumph blew the headliner, Van Halen & David Lee Roth's drunk ass off the stage! A day & event I'll never forget that you can still find on YT.

Check out their live performance from Bob Wozniak's 1983 "US Festival". Yes the co-founder of Apple created a concert venue in San Bernardino that could host 150000 fans and then added a massive mobile stage with the first Jumbo-trons used in concerts and digitally audio-delayed speakers to the venue and then brought in only top acts paying them more than anyone had ever payed for single gigs before. And yes he lost money for both years he "produced" the festivals, but he got one thing super-right! He personally insisted on Triumph for the Heavy Metal Saturday in '83.

This was way before you three were even a thought if you know what I mean! That particular era was freaking awesome, of course, April Wine and rush started 4 years ahead of Triumph. In the mid, to late '70s and '80s they were played on the radio quite a bit in Texas, Minnesota, and Colorado. If you liked this one song then you should check out their debut album self titled 1976, and the Rock and Roll Machine 1977 album pure awesomeness and power, or jump to 1980 Progressions of Power
